Heading into Christmas, here's what I'll be gaming in 2018. I hadn't really messed with my bag very much the past couple of years, but recently got new irons so it seemed as good a spot to start as any.
Here's my bag. It's probably due for a replacement soon.
Putter cover: Got it about 2+ years ago from Bullitt. Still love it.
My putter for the past year. Love the feel and distance control. That I suck at putting isn't this guy's fault, so I see no reason to hunt for a new one.
Wedges: I bounce around between my pair of Trust Rusty wedges and my MD2's. Right now this combination provides the most options inside 100 yards. And it's nice to be in Florida, where rust requires no effort at all.
Irons: I recently switched from my long-suffering Apex irons to Cobra F6 irons. They're crazy-long, launch very high, and they're a bit flatter, so I'm not fighting a pull as much. In addition, the gap wedge feels and plays more like a traditional wedge, which is really nice. Overall they've kind of helped my iron play feel less like I'm fighting where the clubs want the ball to go versus where I'm trying to get ball to go. Plus they look really nice at address.
Hybrid and wood: These guys are some stalwarts. Been gaming them both a long time. Still like the look and forgiveness of the X2Hot hybrid, and the 4-wood is just really easy to hit. Sadly, the 4-wood is likely next on the block. It's just too prone to ballooning and getting lost in the wind in the past year.
Driver: The big stick has been around for...I dunno, almost two years. I still like the look & feel, and I get pretty good distance and forgiveness from it. The only thing I can hold against it is that I can hit some bombs with the weight forward, but it renders the toe side just too low spin and I get a lot of knuckle hooks that just refuse to stay in the air.
And last, I'm planning to game the Srixon Q-Star Tour this year, and my divot tool and marker are probably going to be something from Arizona.
So that's my bag for now. I like it, but I'm never not shopping for new clubs. I guess I should take a moment to say thanks to all the great people on THP. It's been more than 4 years since I found this little corner of the internet, and it's introduced me to a passion for a truly wonderful game, and some even better people.
