Par Three/Pitch & Putt Thread by Slaz 82

We have a par 3 course near me that’s city owned. Longest hole is about 140 yards, but it’s about $12 for 18 holes. I grew up playing the course, but it’s been several years since I’ve been back. I need to check it out again soon.

We unfortunately do not. There is one about about 30 minutes away that is very short. Like Cradle at Pinehurst short. There is another about an hour away that is a bit longer and is part of a 27 hole facility. Love playing them on vacation though. Nice warmup. Used the Sandbox at SV as our warmup the day we arrived in Nekoosa.

I’ve only ever played one and it was the Mountain Top in Branson. It was probably in the top 3 for most fun I’ve ever had playing golf. I need to start seeking them out when I’m out of town.

Several nearby. One is 18 holes, par 67. two others are 9 holes, par 29. We also have a city course that is 9 holes par 34. I enjoy the opportunity to play each of them. The pace is usually good and the courses aren’t pushovers particularly if you try to manhandle them into giving up an even par round. I’ve shot under par on each of them but all three require course management not bomb and gouge.

I have a couple options for when I’m in a pinch. We have one inside the horsteack at Pleasanton fairgrounds I love playing. Got 3 par 4s that are 220-250.

Have another true pitch and putt I play that is all 70-110 except for the 9th that is 190.

Play them 2-3 times a month. Good in a pinch to still get out when I only have a small window.

This is about 15 miles from me. 12 hole par 3 from 94 to 175 yards. Also an 18 hole natural grass putting course. I played the par 3 once and it’s not bad at all. Haven’t played the putting course yet. Need to get back over there.

Understand that this is now part owned by Justin Timberlake. His team has built another near Charlotte, and they’re planning to franchise.

We have one 9-hole executive course here, it's par 30 and 1769 yards from the tips (blue tees). Six par 3s and three par 4s, the longest hole being 309 yards. It borders on being a goat track but it's a fun enough little course to play, we hit it up every once in a while.

There's another 9-hole par 3 course about 25 minutes away that I haven't played yet, but I've heard from people who've played there that it's a pretty tricky course for a par 3.

I love playing the course near me! Unfortunately it just closed for the winter. It’s a great way to practice the short game and has served me well. The greens at my local course aren’t real grass, so I don’t get a lot out of that aspect since they are really slow. I can play 18 in about an hour so it’s great when I want to golf but not spend hours at a local course!

I wish I had a good one. I used to play the par 3 at LaFortune park in Tulsa all the time. It was lit and the lights stayed on until midnight or 1am.

The one they built here in Houston is like 40$ for 9 holes. Haven’t even thought about trying it.

There's an executive course in San Diego that has lights for night golf. I loved going down there during the summer and playing at night!

9 hole P&P at the local muni, use it all the time for dialing in my 50* wedge

We occasionally play the forward tees on the shorter of the two courses at my club. At 3,999 yards it's basically almost a par 71 pitch and putt. Longest hole is a 371 yard par 5. Your short irons and wedges get a real workout and it's good practice for learning to score.

I have a practice facility that is near me that has wedge course don't think anything longer than 60 yards. They also have an executive course so it is some good practice as well, only problem is that they are always overcrowded. Have a couple other par 3 courses around as well and will play them every once in awhile.

We have two par 3 courses. A 9 hole and an 18 hole. I've never played the 9, but the 18 is fantastic with anything from 80-230. If the greens were a little faster I would play it more. It's a bit pricy, but it's in great shape

I said par 3 / p&p was fun, popular and very good for practice

for me its great to `pretend `i can play this game :D

this is my odd way of scoring i tried (my son did a spreadsheet for me, i cant attach it but managed to do this

so

hole 1 is 78 yds if it takes 3 shot i get 26 points.....
hole 2 is 69 yds if it take 4 shots i get 17.25 points

if just thought it was a bit of fun .

I have 3 (strictly 2) close by that I used this year.

Links style 9 hole pitch and putt on the seafront at Hayling Island, sand based and the greens are maintained by the 18-hole members course next door and are excellent ! Longest hole the 9th is 155 with the shortest at 80. Tiny greens, often windy, and I would imagine packed during the summer with tourists but for early season play it was in good condition in March/April when pretty much every course locally was flooded and closed. Took my son there as a stepping stone from range to course.

A par 3, 18 hole course at Ampfield, near Southampton. A Henry Cotton designed course and one of the first 18-hole par 3s. It is £12 off peak, and when in condition the greens and tee boxes are good. It does suffer with a lack of maintenance towards the end of the season, particularly the tees, and the fairways are close by to each other. Shortest hole is 80 yds, longest 170yds and it is a lovely parkland course. Small greens, tight and pretty challenging. Play it mid-week evenings after work.

Then the cheat - Swanmore near Fareham. A 9 hole course with a par of 30. 6 par 3s from 92 to 144 yds and 3 par 4s which range from 241-270 yds - you'd have to be very confident to try to drive the par 4s as they are well protected and often best to give yourself a good position and a wedge in for a birdie chance. Parkland, holes nicely laid out and spaced out. Takes a while to dry out after wet weather but a challenge.

So I'm pretty lucky as these are all within 45 mins of me. Used heavily this year as my son worked through his first year of golf and I/we will be using them still next year. Great for evenings, and tight time availability and also for working on my short game.

There’s one close to me. It’s a dog track, but fun. I honestly don’t know why there’s not more around. Par 3 is underrated.

We have a three hole wedge course that you can play as many times as you want for $5. It’s part of a larger First Tee facility.

I’d play a full 9 hole course like this regularly.

I have yet to play this course even though it's within an hour of my house. Supposedly, it is not a typical pitch and putt. The greens are large but very challenging.

There's a 9-hole par 3 by me that's $20 unlimited play. It's an easy drive from home to course to work, do I will occasionally olY it at 7:30am the head to work.

There's an extremely well maintained, legit 6-hole pitch n putt about 40 minutes away that I play with my 7-yeard old twins every couple weeks.

I have a deal with the that when they can drive the green on the 103-yard hole, I will take the to a bigger course.

It looks very nice indeed, i shouldn`t moan about the cold overhere ............cos i bet it gets very cold up there and driving distances don`t really matter in the USA, i have another small course its about 9.5 miles away from me my pitch and putt is just under 2 miles away

We have a few options here.
-Home course has a free 4 hole P&P out beyond the range. Usually free to use junior clubs and balls in the unmanned 'clubhouse' Little kids might like the clubhouse more than the course since they ride a big slide down to the 1st tee area. I'll practice there sometimes and can setup shots out to @ 110 yards. Compiled the bulk of my short game matrix there.
-Course I play 2nd most has a 9 hole lighted P3. Well maintained bent greens and zoysia fairways/surrounds and bunkers. I'll usually hit it a couple times coming out of winter to help bust the rust off my approach game. I can setup shots from @70 yards out to a little over 200.
-We also have a couple world class P3 courses 30 mins down the road in Branson, Top of the Rock and Mountaintop. A 3rd (Cliffhanger) is currently being built down there. These are expensive P3 venues and up until recently hosted a Champions/Legends Tour event each spring. I've only played Mountaintop (Gary Player design 13 holer) one time. Never played Top of the Rock, but saw it every year when I'd volunteer at the tour event.
