Pictures of the course

Looks fantastic @Vortex Picture this thread up today buddy!

The fall pictures from you other guys are wonderful. Love seeing the courses and the fall colors.

Nate,

Whistling Straits and Sand.Valley had a baby and they named him Tobacco Road! You must put this course on your list.

FYI - we were the last group on the course. Played 42 holes.

N.C. has some incredible courses. Travel tip: bring a PGA Pro....they ‘might’ be able to get a deal, or two, for the group.

#14...181 from the tips to a front pin. Our shot was ~155 yards. You can rent the cabin behind this green. Awesome place for a 4-man group.

#9...photo doesn't fully capture the elevation rise.

#18...good carry test for the driver.

Forest Creek near Southern Pines, N.C. If you ever wonder where Micheal Jordan, Roy Williams (UNC b-ball coach), and some guy named Wanamaker hang out, then this is the place.

Here’s a photo of the clubhouse followed by the bar area in the men’s locker room. We were the first players to arrive so I was able to take a couple of pics before staff got things going for the day.

Pictures of the North Course. Greens (dwarf Bermuda) are extremely fast. We got hit by some rain for a few holes.

The view on every hole is great...for both courses. Here are a few examples from the South Course. The greens have Bent Grass and the speed is slower and more respective to approach shots.

I had to use a 3H, but I split this fairway haha.

Like the last par 3, nice. Private? How do you get on without a membership?

The last par 3 is #17 and it's a great hole. #18 is pretty sweet too. A good drive leaves you with a 6 or 7 iron into the green. Water behind and left of the green. Green side bunker on the right. They also have a 19th hole over a pond. It's called the Hog Hole and it's for resolving wager ties.

We traveled with a PGA Club Pro and he secured the tee times. We paid a guest fee. The course took care of the Pro. I've been fortunate to play a few nice courses and Forest Creek is incredible. The men's locker room is rated one of the best in the country. It's a high-end place which isn't me but I have a lot of respect for how the course is run and managed. It embodies the country club lifestyle to a T. They have about 400-450 members. Men is ~310 and women is ~125. Not sure if an invite is required (guessing they have some type of introduction membership). Fees are $50K initiation plus $1K per month. Food and beverage prices are very reasonable. Pro shop apparel includes Johnnie-O, Peter Millar, and Travis Matthew.

We played Mid Pines and Pine Needles the day before Forest Creek. The guys who followed us at Mid Pines played Forest Creek on the same day. I'm not sure how they got tee times but their group was 24 guys. It would be interesting to know how many rounds the members play annually.

P.S. I reloaded the photos via the new mobile platform instead of TapaTalk (original method). The photo resolution is way better if you're using a desktop or laptop.

Just got to say, these pics make me want to get back out to NC and play. Haven't played in NC in a few years and now I'm really missing it.

I played a round on the Live Oak course at Lakeway Country Club in Austin TX yesterday.

20191028_095706.jpg

This par 3 was only 155 yards but its a forced carry.

20191028_111342.jpg20191028_121630.jpg20191028_122334.jpg20191028_125912.jpg20191028_101043.jpg

I hit several good drives. The fairways were soaked so there was not much roll.

20191028_104615.jpg

I got it going pretty good with two birdies in a row on 5 and 6 but I came back to earth. I carded a second +3 on the front but settled down again and shot 87.

My buddy takes pics and plays the nicest courses in the country. Cypress Point, Sleepy Hollow, Bandon Dunes. He came here, NC, and played Pinehurst, Mid Pines, Dormie, and he couldn't stop talking about Tobacco Road. He loved it. He's an architecture junkie and takes some damn good pics. Check them out
