A couple from our new “away” course, University of Texas Golf Club in Austin. Awesome place & great staff, once you get passed all the burnt orange & Speith gear.

A couple of shots from Black Jack's Crossing at Lajitas, on the Texas/Mexico border near Terlingua and Big Bend. The shot with me is hitting a ball 90 degrees to the teebox over the Rio Grande into Mexico just to say we did it...

Supposedly one of the 8 most beautiful courses in the US, but those polls are funny things. Estes Park's 18 hole top 2 pix and 9 hole courses below with Lake Estes in the foreground taken from Prospect Mt.

That is a course I have wanted to play for a long time. Great pics!

Thanks! I wish I played a little better. I was so exhausted from all the hilly walking haha

Granite Links in Quincy, MA. Second pic is the remnants of the old quarry they filled in (using dirt from the Big Dig) to create the course. Look closely and you’ll still see old car parts. The dead bodies are long gone. :p

Ever had this situation? From FB Group Golf Jokes and Stories
WHAT IF THIS WAS THE SITUATION ON THE FINAL HOLE TO DECIDE THE RYDER CUP? WOULD THE USGA AND R&A HAVE DIFFERENT OPINIONS?
Here are three opinions from Rules Officials
Opinion 1) The ball is not touching the flagstick so Rule 13.2c does not apply. For the ball to be holed the entire ball must be below the surface of the green. See the definition of Holed. In the example, the ball would have to be played as it is because if the twig was removed it would cause the ball to move (fall in the hole) and that would be a penalty of one stroke, (Rule 15.1b) and the ball would have to be placed on the rim. Removing the twig is an action that will make the ball move so it is deliberate, not accidental thus the penalty.

Opinion 2:
  1. 13.2c N/A as ball not resting against flagstick.
  2. The ball is resting against a Loose impediment on putting green and if the ball moves on putting green (which it will here looking at the photo, BUT it is possible it might not) Rule 9.4 Ex 3 says NP no matter how it happens and refers to Rule 13.1d (1) but as on the putting green, the player can mark and lift their ball, remove the L.I. and replace the ball.
  3. What I am not sure about is when the ball is replaced as in the photo, and stays there say for 2/3 seconds and then falls into the hole before the player can tap in, would the ball be considered holed with the last stroke? My gut feeling is yes, although 2/3 seconds may not be considered long enough. If so then the ball must be replaced as instructed by 14.2e last bullet ‘on putting green’.
Opinion 3)
The ball isn’t holed
To proceed, you could either try tap it in or mark and lift your ball and the twig and then place your ball on the lip of the hole where it stays at rest. If it falls in, you must replace it to where it will stay at rest.
Rule 13.3 and the definition of “holed”.

Two of my favorite holes from the course I played growing up. My parents are members and now that I’m back in-state, I head back to my hometown to play it regularly with them. One is a 100 yard par 3 over a quarry and the other is a 380 yard par 4 with the men’s tee facing a quarry that requires about 100 yards of carry with OB on the right all the way down the hole.BC666916-0803-4706-B43B-78DC63DBFF44.jpeg78814433-0DC2-4616-864C-DD792EB7C46F.jpeg

Don’t forget windy as heck especially the first hole. I made the mistake of using my driver even after watching a local in front of me play the wood lol. Great course! Nice gps in the carts too. Many blind spots.

Country Club of Barre, VT. This is a 1924 Wayne Stiles course, at the height of land along the spine of the Green Mountains. Lots of contoured green complexes, natural terrain features, and the greens are some of the best in the state. Very, very quick and sloping = no easy four footers today.

4th Green - cool grass moguls in a sea of short approach grass. Got up and down (y)

14th Par 3 - the tee is down in the chute along the trees, and from the tee is an amazing array of moguled, rippled natural terrain and exposed granite rock face, and the green is just visible up the hill past all of it. Very old school cool.

16th Par 3 - 155 yards and almost blind from the tips...

More accommodating sight lines from the forward tees.
