I had the pleasure of playing a round at Pine Forest Country Club in west Houston last Sunday. This is one of the nicest private clubs in the area. I have been to a few weddings and events hosted here but have never played golf. I drive by here nearly every day and look through the fence at the beautiful course and dream of teeing it up. This place is an absolute gem with tall mature trees and perfectly groomed lush fairways and fast smooth greens.
You can see the dew on the ground when we teed off at 8 am. We had a rare June cool front move through the area and the humidity levels were low and it was a perfect weather day to play golf.
Ed and Karen Summers were my host and rolled out the red carpet for me and my wife Carol. Carol does not play golf but enjoys the scenery and points out a lot of things that I would miss being focused on golf. The bunkers were fluffy and just perfect.
Here is 67 year old Ed walking the round putting us youngsters to shame.
Ed and Karen's beautiful house on the picturesque par three sixth hole.
As you can see this is an absolutely beautiful 27 hole golf course and the clubhouse facilities are impeccable. After the round we had a nice lunch and said our goodbyes. Pine Forest is having a membership drive currently and offering a generous discount off of the initiation fee. I have played a lot of very nice courses with my ClubCorp Play away program and this place right in my backyard is nicer than any of them.
