Pine Valley GC Litler vs Nelson 1962

Excllent video here of a match between Gene Litler and Byron Nelson at the famous Pine Valley GC. Both players were regarded as great swingers of a golf club, and Pine Valley is usually at the top of any "World's Best Golf Course" rankings list.

Funny how the difference from today’s game. Hitting 170 yards using a 4 iron vs what. 8 or a 9 today at most?

That 7 that Littler took on the par 3 makes me feel better about some of the shots and decisions I've made on the course, too. I'm sure he was kicking himself after the fourth shot for not taking the S&D.

I actually watched this earlier today as well.

I was surprised at how far Nelson was still hitting it. I think he was in his 50s during this match. The course looked brutally difficult. Nowhere to miss. I would be curious how the current tour players would tackle this track.
