Fun.. I have been saying for years this segment was growing. It is basically to the point each OEM basically has to offer one.

Interesting to see. Marty Jertson is a big proponent of playing a higher lofted driver with a shorter shaft as a second tee club. They must be seeing enough asks for the mini driver to introduce one.

I will be interested to see the final product for sure.

I wonder what this will sound like indoors... :ROFLMAO:

Interesting timing with my AMA thoughts :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Hmm not sure what to think on this. Looks very... Simple?

Adjustable Hosel, settings for fade and draw... If the Tour Players take to it, we may see it at retail.

That's the first thing that came to mind when I read the title of this thread

If the old rapture strong 3W is any indication, this will cost 2799$

Like other Ping Product- NOT the most attractive.
Honestly, if your joining the Game late, you better match or do better than the rest. Cobra just did this with adjustments in Hosel And Weights, whereas the (longest running?) TM has multiple moveable weights in the r7.

I'm still gaming that club with an OG 7X Blueboard. They weren't selling great at Golftown, and got it Boxing day for a great price.

This prototype looks clean to me.

so I will ask a question from a position of stupidity...I never really knew what a minidriver was. I saw my first one when I knew what I was looking at this saturday and it...well..to me it just looked like a 3 wood.

I have conclusively proven hitting a 3 wood is substantially worse for me than a driver off the tee...i combine just as much dispersion with a loss of distance, and sometimes a substantial loss. It looks to me like a minidriver is a 3-wood head on a driver shaft...

I am probably wrong but that is what it looks like..

so for minidriver enthusiasts, educate me. What are the 7 biggest erros in my understanding and why should I try one?

I remember a Club Ping made long ago that had a unique name considered a Mini.

The Thriver?

It was like a 12 degree driver on a 3 wood shaft.

The more the merrier - I like to see it.

That's the exact appeal of the mini. It's far more forgiving off the tee than the 3w and offers better dispersion than the driver. At least on paper anyway, your mileage might vary.

3 woods around around 160-200cc these days. Mini driver is around 280 on the small side to 350ish. Deeper face, more discretionary weight. It's supposed to be the club you take off the tee when driver would bring trouble down range. There is also the element of setting up a driver for one shot shape. Say you play a cut, so the driver is set up for a cut. If you tried to work a draw with that driver it's just not going to be a good outcome. In comes the mini driver!

Yea, but the only one that matters any more is the GT280....

Just kidding. That Ping looks as if it may be a bit more diminutive that the TM et al. Thats why I like the GT280 so much, its not intimidating off the deck.

Is that a movable rear weight?

Also, it better have turbulators or I am going to punch somebody!

I am a big fan of the 280. I have really enjoyed it and Titleist built exactly what I was asking for. . Does not mean that I am not wanting to try others.

The big thing I have taken away from this thread is that I missed an AMA today.

And that this looks like a reaction if I've ever seen one.

And it will sell. Those Raptures still fetch big $$ on eBay
