1. Sit down and shut up
2. Every airline has the select-o-matic when it comes to seat selection, so you who chose to sit in Row 15 can wait for Rows 1-14 to get their carry-ons and leave
3. I'm not your buddy, pal - refer to #1

Man - I got yelled at by the flight attendent because of #1/#3. I noticed the person next to me was a golfer so I struck up a conversation while we were waiting to take off. Crew starts the whole emergency prodedures deal so I stop talking and look forward, but this fella is still talking. Flight attendent tells us to be quiet. I'm still looking straight ahead not saying anything. Then the guy NEEDS to finish his thought so he starts talking again. So the flight attendent yells at us. "You guys are being really loud, be quiet" I'm like..wtf did I do?! I haven't said a single word, lol.

I’m not sure how often you fly or visit airports, but it ain’t one person…The ratio drastically changes.
I fly maybe once every two years and work from home, but I do go to Starbucks every day and sometimes twice.

I don't understand why seats even recline at this point. It's seen as rude to do it, it barely makes the seats more comfortable if at all. It's just a nuisance and cause to get people more angry at each other

Rule #1. I don't fly
Rule #2. Never forget Rule 1.

This was a family outing - kind of a trial by fire to see if it is something we can do with the kids to other places. We'd like to explore the west coast, Alaska, maybe Hawaii at some point.

We all agree that we much prefer road trips. So really anything under 20ish hours is going to be a road trip. Half the fun is finding cool spots along the way to explore!

I’ve been flying now again the last for weeks in a row for work. People are trash, 100%. No one cares about others and openly show it.

Some of the stuff in inexperienced flyers, but most of the time it’s just that they are trash. I had a giant guy in front of me this week and as soon as the flight attendants sat down for takeoff he slammed the seat back as far as it would go. Then kept trying to slam it back further throughout the flight. Luckily I knew what would happen if I used the tray with a drink, so avoided it.

the thing that bugs me the most are people taking your seat before you are even on the plane and just telling to take their other seat. Happens way too much, and is super inconsiderate. Also the random people that jump up upon landing and start trying to get to the front of the plane, like there isn’t some order that takes place. Everyone has a connection to make, you aren’t special.

I wish seats on planes couldn’t recline.

Would be soooooo much better to not have to worry who is in front of you.

I honestly think reclining a plane seat is more uncomfortable than it being upright.

keep your damn shoes on

I don’t do it but I would just rather people didn’t have the option. Sucks getting rammed in the knees.

1. Headphones on means leave me alone.
2. I’m ok with people reclining. Just don’t do it like you’re having a seizure.
3. To the person sitting behind me that grabs the top of my headrest and yanks on it to help themselves stand up (shaking the crap out of my seat): I hate you. We all hate you. Knock it off.

I recline if i want to, use my vent if i need to, use or do not use yours and I will not say anything.

Be a dick? i will say something

Some people are just a**holes. The woman you described is one of them.

I chalk a lot of this stuff up to a total lack of self awareness and an unwillingness to accept that ones actions affect others.

We are in the 'it's all about ME ME ME ' phase of history. I see it every time I drive more than 4-5 miles, I see it in the grocery store, I see it in restaurants, heck just walking down the street with my wife on some shopping excursions in the city. No one seems to care how their behavior affects others.

In our family, we keep our shoes on, and we don't recline - and for what it's worth, we upgrade when possible and not cost prohibitive to avoid many of these things.

I will say I do try to get up relatively quickly depending on where I seated, but that is more often due to needing to stretch, I try on flights of 3 hours or less to just stay seated - so when we hit the ground I need get up!
100% agree with you.

Just flew back from Europe last week, 8 hours and had the same a**h*** jerking his seat back forward and recline. He obviously doesn't understand that MY tray is connected to HIS seat. My wife kept looking at me and saying "serenity now!!"

Insanity later!

I always sit in 1A..I can’t deal with people in front of me.

Last time I was on a plane I opened up my iPad and Pilot Debrief was the last thing I was watching on YouTube.

Videos about plane crashes don’t go over well when you’re on a plane.

I’ve gotten to the point where I just put in the earbuds, turn them up and just close my eyes. i don’t get all bent out of shape if the person in front of me reclines their seat. They barely go back anymore.

We live in a time where a total lack of self discipline and respect for other people has declined. There is a line in a Yes song, “don’t surround yourself with yourself,” which is how these people live. We have relaxed the rules far too long, allowing so much freedom that now we’ve created monsters in our homes and in society. I’m all for airlines and other venues to start having signs, pamphlets and announcements listing rules and etiquette just like golf courses do.

I usually sleep most of the flight unless it's international. I don't bring food of any type on a plane. I only recline if the person behind is poking their knees into my back repeatedly or otherwise pushing or pulling the back of my seat. I rarely get up at all, but do get up when it is my time to exit the plane and don't d%@# around when departing.

On the general topic of flying: I've only flow twice this year, and it's been the first time I'm flown in several years.

I was really surprised at the difference between airlines. First was Delta. They had the seat back screens, gave actual snacks - it was pretty nice. This time was AA, no screens, no snack options. It felt much more stripped down like a budget airline.

There's a ton of factors that go into this. Many airlines have a discounted version of their own flights. So Air Canada has "Air Canada Rouge" for example. United i believe has their version of this. Generally when you are on the discounted version, there won't be screens. However if you have the app, i believe all the major airlines you can watch stuff on your phone or table for free on the plane Wifi

Also, some regional flights use older small planes that don't have screens

The quality of screen and offering typically depends how new the plane is. I was on a brand new midsize airbus not too long ago that had a pretty nice touchscreen and very large library.

I was reading that AA has done away with the seat back screens for most shorter flights. It just wasn't worth the extra weight/cost/hassle. Which I do get, but it was a nice feature to have on the Delta flight. Thankfully I have t-mobile that offers free flight wifi so I was able to watch shows or scroll through THP.

I do try to be considerate, but the reclining absolutely makes my flight more comfortable. I would never b*tch about someone else reclining though... so I guess there is that. I'm also willing to pay more for additional leg room or other perks. We had recliner like leg rests in a flight home from Germany last year... that was fantastic.

I follow similar rules on an airplane that I do in the rest of life. Try not to make someone else's life difficult. Mind my own business. Be helpful when I can.
