Project X HZRDUS Yellow G5 Shaft

As I have been trying to trend more to "smooth" in my driver swing, and with better tempo, man it seems like I have found a sweet spot with the HZRDUS Yellow G5. Like a different flight, the ball just goes, and things are starting to become more effortless with the setup. Not to say that there hasn't been a lot of time spend trying to find the way, but now that I have things just fly for me.

This is coming off a morning at the range between rain showers, in the cold and lots of wind. I wasn't expecting anything in terms of performance/distance, and was trying to just key on my swing. I loved it. Maybe the best I have felt swinging driver in ages. There was no two way miss, the wind maybe playing a part in that, but the flight was consistent the whole time.

Has there been anything anyone HASN'T liked about this shaft?

For me personally, I haven't found anything yet. I haven't had a second thought about ever wanting anything else in this driver.

Aside from it not being completely yellow in color from tip to tail, I don't really have anything memorable at all that stands out as a negative. Luckily it seems to have worked out well for my swing/transition. It has helped improve, or I guess stabilize aspects like spin and height.

Did I struggle early? Yes. Moreso from trying to swing the heck out of it like I was my old shaft. When I worked more tempo into the swing, and swinging more freely instead of forcefully (if that makes sense). That isn't to say it won't work for someone who swings differently, clearly it could/would, just for my own swing tempo/speed/transition, I had better results with one approach over the other.

I think there is plenty to like, if your swing is screaming for what the HZRDUS Yellow G5 offers. If you struggle elevating the ball, it may not be for you. If you overall benefit from MORE spin off the driver, your results may vary. But if you are at all curious, I realy recommend you to just go demo one off a fitting cart if you can. See how it reacts for your swing. See the results for yourself.

;TLDR, add more Yellow.

It’s a great shaft and I’m hitting a very high percentage of FIRs with it. I’m still babying my back some but hope to get to the range this weekend latest for more experim.

I do like the yellow version of this better. Does that count?
Ill Allow It GIF

So played Pinehurst #2 on Monday with @Jeff Spicoli and @SVonhof

1st drive was ugly but that was nerves, and had a bad drive at the end but that was when heat stroke started to settle in.

Other than that my driver was pretty damn on point with the yellow and AI smoke. I believe I hit every fairway besides 1 with driver and that was the first hole. Even the horrible drive to end the round with heat stroke was a worm burner but ended up in the fairway. I still play a fade with it but it has definitely become less of a fade, and my distance is not hurt as bad as I can tell for sure the combo knocks a lot of extra spin I had with the previous setup off.

You hit the driver well. We were playing different tees and I didn't even notice you had the Yellow in the bag, as I might have asked to hit it.

That last drive wasn't a worm burner. You hit a high fade. You were having a heat stroke so it's understandable you didn't remember that one.

Ohh yeah the 1 before that was the worm burner. The high fade was fairway as well.

Well now I am jealous. How many PMs and fireballs did my guy @Jeff Spicoli have?

Bummer I was really interested to see if you had feedback on the yellow.

hahaha no PMs or Fireballs. It was a stupid hot when we played so no alcohol consumed on the course. I think there was something like 15 people who could not finish their rounds that day due to the heat.

I want to try it. Next time @pumbaa and I tee it up I will swing it (if he allows).

Yep, hole 2 barely made it to the fairway but worked out better than mine.

It all gets a little fuzzy around there because I was fading fast.

Going through a swing change but my driver was pretty damn on yesterday. This shaft really fits my new swing. I'm hitting more up on the ball and less steep so it comes out mid launch and hot! I hit some seriously impressive drives yesterday. Love this setup.

This combo’d with my Max-K has me the longest I feel like I have ever been off the tee, and feels great throughout the entire swing. Accuracy doesn’t feel much different than with my HZRDUS black, but I do feel like it has a bit more kick for me.

Just stopping by to say I absolutely love this shaft in my driver. I really want to try it in my fairways too. but so far this has been everything I'd ask for or want in a driver.

My time with the HZRDUS Yellow G5 has been really eye opening. Showing me I could play a profile that I previously thought would be bad for me (just on my own assumptions).

A round on the weekend had more good drives than bad. Not the longest that I can remember on the one "feature" hole, but 3 of 4 I hit on the hole reached distances that in prior years I had only hoped to reach. I still tend to get hooky with it when I get too aggressive, but then I wonder if it is construct of choosing the 5.5 over a 6.0. When I build better tempo into the swing, I am more than happy with the results.

At one point I hit two drives on the same hole, one where I tried to swing faster/harder, and another where I swung with more tempo... the results? Within 5 feet of each other.

I don't have lots of experience playing around with driver shafts, in fact this will be the year where I will have played with the most driver shafts I have ever used, with the Yellow being my 2nd of the year, and then another offering next week. To say the HZRDUS Yellow G5 surprised me with the results would be an understatement. Faster speeds in the sim, longest drives I have ever hit in the simulator, and overall positive results on-course. I cannot recommend trying one out enough if you have the chance. Give Yellow a try!

Continue to be super long with this combo’d in my Max K. The transition in my swing feels excellent.

Been at the range the last two days, and swinging driver over and over repeatedly helps show more of how the shaft performs for me. It’s just so damn consistent and the transition just feels so powerful but also so in control. It’s giving me what I love about the HZRDUS black, but with that little extra kick to it, which I just can’t get enough of.

Will have this in the Max-K with me at Victoria National. Going to be really putting the combo to the ultimate test. Last time out was probably my most consistent driving day of the year, so we'll see if I can replicate it. I just tried to swing smoother and let it feel like the club was transitioning more naturally and was hitting it really well. Didn't really seem to lose any distance with the adjustment either.

I’m jealous you’ve been able to get this out. I have not had a chance to tee it up for a couple weeks now and the season is winding down

I luckily have a wife that has reluctantly let me prep for the Morgan Cup. It's been a good excuse haha.

That’s fantastic. Hopefully the weather holds out and I get get 18 in with @Redd tomorrow morning
