Project X HZRDUS Yellow G5 Shaft

First swing after brief warmup. Promising. She's low spin.

I think we have a new very solid option here. I screwed up and didn't save the screenshot, but ended the session with 12 drives with the CTTD that were all fairway between 252 and 282. That's unheard of for me. This club will not go left out of play, which is huge as that's my bad miss on course.

Spin is low, maybe too low for most. I'm seeing 1800 - 2200 rpm with the CTTD, and only maybe 100 more RPM than that with the ProV1 RCT ball. Very consistent no matter the ball used.

I played around a lot with the adapter settings and rear weights on the Elyte, and didn't see much of a difference any way (except the fade setting, and that's horrible for me anyway). Ended up back in my D/-2 setting as always. It is borderline too low peak height (75-80 ft), but it's got runout which I've been missing.

The shaft has more flex in the 6.0S than the same Ventus Black 6S. I can definitely feel the kick with this shaft. I struggle to feel it on the Ventus Black.

This 6.0 flex does match up to my swing speed (95-100 today in the cold) than the 6.5 of @outlawx that he sent for me to demo. I was just turning that over too much and had a duck hook at times, that I did not see today.

Definitely early on honeymooning here, but first session was very promising.

I love seeing this. You might even go back to the x head

Those are some really good numbers
I don't really know, but I hope. I saw better ball speed with your 6.5 shaft on a few but it was much warmer. I'm in here swinging in 50 degrees today.

I saw 146 or so on a couple today tops. I was more concerned with straight and not all over the county......
I need a driver shaft I feel confident in. Once I can find fairway, I will go for speed next.

How do you like the feel of it?

X head went back in the backup bag the last few months, on a time out. It was mis-behaving (high face heel side spinny shots).
I don't know if it's ready to come back out yet.

I like it. It flexes but mid shaft, not in the handle at all. At least I don't think so. Feels firm handle and tip, maybe medium+ in the middle.

I could be way off, but to me if I feel any flex in the handle, I lose the head. Ex. Denali shafts. I'm done first swing with those.

I got this back out last night for a brief sim session as the garage temps weren't too bad.

I am LOVING the stability I feel with this shaft. It gives me the confidence to put a little more into the swing, knowing I (likely) won't lose it left. I am getting better smash factor (and ball speed) than others I've tried this year, and the spin stays down.

I thinking bad things about finding some others to try.....

This is a shaft that still intrigues me, so I'm going to see if I can source one this offseason and give it some run against the gamer

For a 3wd or what exactly are you pondering

yes, maybe something for the Mini Driver too. The AD-VF is the only shaft i've tried in that. It's just a weird need (mini driver length) so haven't hacked down any of my other driver shafts to try in it. You can't exactly go back once you cut a shaft down. See my other post about prior gen HZRDUS shafts looking for opinions.

Question for you. Do you feel the hinge in the midsection? I believe it has a stout, butt leading to a softer midsection in an abrupt transition on the EI curve.

I can't say I feel it, no. But Im used to shafts with flex in the mid section. I've found I need stiff handles sections, and tips. That keeps the spin down and the ball in play for me. If I have a flexy handle shaft I lose direction control a bit. I've been in a bit of a shaft progress this year in a search for the right combination.
  • Aretera EC1 - Prior to swig change and jsut wasn't right at the time (Its closer now)
  • AD-DI - was fit to this when I had my old swing and needed something I could consistently close the face with. This was it.
  • AD-UB - After changing my swing the AD-DI felt loose and while long, had two way miss. The AD-UB was stiffer handle and tip. This was my main gamer shaft until July.
  • Ventus Blue Velocore+ - Thought the AD UB was a hair loose in the tip, so got a Ventus Blue and cut it down to try shorter driver shaft to find center face more consistently. This along with the CTTD ball showed much better results on course.
  • HZRDUS Yellow - Current shaft in the driver. Even Stiffer handle and tip than anything else, yet not boardy.

I really enjoy reading about your journey on the driver side of things.

From a swing perspective how do you think you’ve progressed there?

Swing is much different than a year ago. Last fall I was swinging a VIsta Pro 60R shaft in my driver, at 92-94 MPH swing speed, and just using a relaxed swing to attempt to control the outcome (minimize slice). Basically coming over the top and swiping across the ball. I went on a mission this spring to shallow out the swing, and commit to being able to swing the club again with force.

I know my limitations, as I'm not in my 20's anymore. Now I'm at 101-102 swing speed (loose), or 96 MPH cold out out of the truck. As shown in my post from early December, first swing in a session was 95.9MPH. That's normal cold speed for me. It gradually goes up. I'm comfortable with those swing speeds as I am still in control.
Driver carry last year was 210-220 with total 240, to now 240-250 carry with total 260+. So easily 20-30 yards longer off the tee.
The swing change has got my irons numbers up about 20 yards over last year as well. I used to hit my 7 iron 145, and now that's a 165 club for me. Same through the set.

Across the board I'm 20 yards longer.

That’s awesome man!

Im sure all my numbers are @outlawx -20 yards. Tell me Im not right.......
I mean when I get my sequence yeah but generally we’re not terribly far apart.

Hence the Stiff to X flex difference is probably correct.

@jlew have you got any swings in with this yet?

December is always tough for me from a fam perspective- two birthdays and holidays = have grandkids multiple weekends, and by the time they get picked up on Sunday I'm beat haha. I'm hoping January frees up a bit for me like it did last year to be able to jump in and get some swings going.

Let’s go grandpa

Ill take that as a "I have been dreaming of the absolute rockets that will come out of this driver and shaft combo, and it's amazing".

Close enough to positive feedback already.

I got the sticks out this morning for a sim session with the daughter. It was a good opportunity to test this shaft on real life conditions. As in cold, no real warmup, and only hitting random shots like you would in real playing frequency. No time to groove a swing in repeated shots.

it is fabulous. It’s 100% what I needed. All I can say is I have a much better sense of control now. My misses are still there, but they are in play. I’m hitting better center of the face, as my ball speed is also up a little. It’s got a great (lower) ball flight as well, which I needed.

I didn’t have a lost OOB drive right or left today, which says a lot. Only one penalty off the tee was rolling out into water that was 284 yards from the tee. I’ll take those penalties all day.

This is simply a great shaft.
