Project X HZRDUS Yellow G5 Shaft

I can't say I feel it, no. But Im used to shafts with flex in the mid section. I've found I need stiff handles sections, and tips. That keeps the spin down and the ball in play for me. If I have a flexy handle shaft I lose direction control a bit. I've been in a bit of a shaft progress this year in a search for the right combination.
  • Aretera EC1 - Prior to swig change and jsut wasn't right at the time (Its closer now)
  • AD-DI - was fit to this when I had my old swing and needed something I could consistently close the face with. This was it.
  • AD-UB - After changing my swing the AD-DI felt loose and while long, had two way miss. The AD-UB was stiffer handle and tip. This was my main gamer shaft until July.
  • Ventus Blue Velocore+ - Thought the AD UB was a hair loose in the tip, so got a Ventus Blue and cut it down to try shorter driver shaft to find center face more consistently. This along with the CTTD ball showed much better results on course.
  • HZRDUS Yellow - Current shaft in the driver. Even Stiffer handle and tip than anything else, yet not boardy.

Same as you I've tried many different shafts and profiles. None have been a great match but had there advantages jsut did not lend to giving me a repeatable swing. Then I got a Talamonti with a used club from a member here at THP. Slapepd it in and have neve rlooked back just trying to match it with something more readily avilable. Came across the HZRDUS yellow Smoke & the G5 Yellow. Only way to test is buy 1 or 3 :sneaky: I cant wait to give these a try. It almost matches the profile of my Talamonti so between the older yellow smoke & now the G5 yellow lets hope to see some solid results and something I can implement into my driver & fairways woods

I had to google what a Talamonti was o_O

Here is what I love about this shaft.

I'm 160+ swings in on the day so far, and can get 2200 spin, 81 feet peak height, and 145 ball speed on a 97 mph swing. Yes this is somewhat cherry picked, but I am beat. With other shafts I would be in spray mode by now. This shaft is keeping me in play.

There is something in this that is keeping the gear effect in check. My side spin is greatly reduced, or it's just keeping the head stable through the swing better.

Moved ball about 1/2" forward in the stance and you can still get a higher ball flight (101'), but the descent angle is almost 40 degrees, so rollout is reduced.

Side spin is still money though.

This 6.0 60 Yellow G5 driver shaft is feeling lonely. We may have to do something about this soon…….

You waited this long?! I at least gave my a friends at the same time. Mainly because the shaft in my 9W just performs and I refuse to change it haha

Where's the writeup? And update to the sig?

Share your thoughts.

I'm doing a few different changes whiles also changing these shafts...
As a little update from what I've seen... Current can hit 102' height range with my driver and that was never a thing before.... Spin has come up by 200-300rpm but nothing in a bad way. This is all compared to my previous Talamonti LS70-S and the Yellow is the 60g-6.0

I'm assuming driver numbers.

Are you playing it in fairway(s)?

Most of my experience in testing has been from driver so far.

I do have it in my 5wood currently as I switched it out from the previous Kuro Kage Black. I will say mishits have been more forgiving ball flight wise with the Yellow but not enough hits to really have a numbers difference yet. Previous Kuro Kage was a 60g-S & Current Yellow is a 70g-6.0

Tonight felt like a Hallmark movie for me a little bit, where you see the main character go back to his hometown and see old flings and they rekindle their relationship…

First swing with the Yellow in my Elyte was like that, rekindling that love with an old fling. I was tired and didn’t take a ton of swings but the 5 that I did take with it were fantastic. More to come as we get more swings with it but found some early success with it.

I was thinking about you tonight when I pulled mine to hit. I’m glad to hear you got at least a couple of swings in with it.

Today was the first time I out this shaft through its paces on (Sim) rounds. Up to this point it’s only been range time.
All I can say is that it is STABLE in my hands. It has greatly controlled my left to right dispersion immensely.

While I can still miss a fairway like all, its marginal offline. Not “two counties over“ offline like I’ve had from time to time.
I feel I can swing as hard as I want and it’s not getting away from me. I love that. In both rounds today I had one drive OB, and that was because it went too far and found water. I had two other drives in trees, but first line of trees and was able to punch out.

I was also able to play the Chrome Tour ball today and spin wasn’t jumping up over 3000 RPM like before. So it’s keeping that part in check as well.

I‘m liking where this is going so far. 2026 may be very yellow in the bag.

First time i've plugged the HZRDUS Yellow G5 shaft in the Elyte X head. I think Ive been missing out a bit. This thing just wants to go straight. It's a little high, but I just set the adapter on N/S. So have room to loft down if needed.

Just warming up, 8th swing:

The smash on that is peak. Wild how good of a profile this is for you

I don't know why I get along with it, but I do. I can swing hard and it stays on line. It's the old "fairway finder" swing I have the gives me some issues at times. If I go after it I have much better results.

Hey @DB TT how does the titan EI curve compare to the g5 yellow?

I’m interested to hear this. My guess is that the Titan is the HZRDUS Black on steroids, and similar to the Hulk shaft. I could be surprised though.

HZRDUS is not soft handled, it's pretty stout. I'd characterize it as stiff/xstiff/stiff (butt/mid/tip). Titan would be closer to reg/xstiff/xstiff. The lighter colored plot (I'm color blind so whatever color that is TITAN. The darker line is Gen 5 HZRDUS Black. You can see TITAN is softer in the handle, but then much stiffer through the mid and tip section.

Here’s how it stacks up to the gen 5 black

interesting. Kind of like a Denali Hulk shaft.

Has anyone found a shaft that is close to the same profile as the HZRDUS Yellow? Seems to be 1 of kind for the most part

I think there are always going to be similar shafts on paper, but it's tough to say how close any really are.

I almost hate to post this, but in the fitting I did this weekend the stock Ping Tour Black shaft felt very similar.
