Project X TITAN Black: Built for Speed, Stability, and Control

Took the Titan out for my 2nd range session and all I can say is WOW. I was finally swinging it correctly today and I was absolutely smoking it. This shaft just wants to go straight and long with minimal spin. I normally play an xtra stiff shaft unless the particular shaft is hard to load ill use a heavier stiff shaft. This 6.5 (xtra stiff) 60g shaft fits me like a glove as it’s not hard to load with the softer handle section. For anyone that has an aggressive transition this shaft is definitely worth a look and after today I highly recommend trying one. It’s going straight in my bag.

What's a quick comparison to a shaft you've previously played?

My 6.5x 70g Titan arrived today and I just got back from my range session.

Initial impressions are very high. I warmed up with my 6.5x 70g HZRDUS Black RDX shaft and saw my normal high ball flight that would fall right with a decent fade.

After switching to the Titan, I immediately noticed that I did not feel like I had to swing as hard to transition the swing and that I could find a more relaxed tempo. The shaft felt more stable through impact producing a similar to marginally lower ball flight.

I hit somewhere between 25-30 balls with the Titan shaft and found that my good swings were tighter in dispersion, and more consistent. My miss with this shaft was a low left hook, my normal miss with my last shaft is a high right slice.

Overall after my first session I have high hopes for this shaft and look forward to getting onto a simulator to put some numbers to this test for you all!

These look freaking INCREDIBLE

I am going to need to find one of these to swing. It sounds like an absolute dream. Have you swung anything in the past you'd relatively compare it to in terms of feel at the top of the swing as you transition into the downswing?

I know that is wildly specific, I am sorry for being a psychopath :ROFLMAO:

Tour AD XC is the most similar that I have tried albeit I havent used a ton of shafts. My previous shafts are Linq powercore blue, tour ad di / xc , newton fast motion.

Perfectly fine. Im quite the psychopath myself when it comes to golf equipment. Especially with shafts as of late.

How does it compare to the Fast Motion? I may be getting my hands on a 5 dot before too long to try out

Wyndam clark is playing this now.. He is a complete psychopath, so we will see it if lasts. But thought that was interesting.

he swings hard at golf balls and lockers.

It’s way way different. The fast motion is a unique profile. I really cant tell which part of the shaft is soft but it’s got a huge kick before impact. I’ve never really swung a shaft quite like it before.

Planning on some more sim time tomorrow but I agree with you, it's a profile that just feels fast but having control.

I started to really swing hard at it last session and it was so stable.

I really want to do some sim time comparing the Titan and the Linq Powercore Blue. The only simulators I have available to me are less than ideal setups.

I have a Smoke Blue 6.0 70 to put up against it, thought I had a Black 6.0 but only a 6.5

Hitting high shots with a HZRDUS black is something I’ve become accustomed to seeing myself lol. Did you feel like the Titan felt more active in transition, less, or about the same? That transition area is where I feel like that sensation of too stiff or too much flex comes from. I’m going to be watching that closely on my end as well.

I think I'm going to go through a little bit more of a get to know you session with this tonight. Really looking forward to it. Will be interesting if I see launch and spin numbers sit in a similar area as I did the other night.

I hope it treats you well.

at least I'll be in the garage so even if I snap hook one I'll be able to find the ball for the next shot
Haha. I know a snap hook all too well. Have you ever seen the movie rookie of the year? My transition is similar to the kids throwing motion.

Gardenhoser....warm up, you're going in! Love that movie. My transition looks like I am wearing a shock collar and it goes off when I reach the top of my swing.

Next session plan.

HZRDUS Smoke Blue RDX 6.0 70 playing at 45.5" first up.

First modification to the Titan has been done based on the recommendation from session 1, shortened to 45" for testing.

I typically prefer 45" or 44.5" as playing length to help with more consistent strikes.

Everything will be on a Full Swing simulator so I'm also anxious to see if my club bath replays improve from the terror from the first session.
