About me

First round with the Titan today and it was a little windy and pretty warm. I didn't go in thinking I would all of the sudden see huge drives and such but I hoping for a good driving day. I got on the range before hand and I saw I had a fade working today. No need to fight it just go with it. First tee I meet the 3 guys I am playing with and they want to play one up. No problem. I go first and pipe one down the middle that starts to fade a touch right. No problem as it catches the right side of the fairway. The other 3 guys were all shorter than me. Ok, no big deal. I should also note that the course will host an LPGA event in a couple of weeks so it was cart path only. I walked in 90 degree weather so I could go straight to my ball.

So long story short I came up just short of the 300 yd drivable par 4 and hit 11 of 14 fairways. I am generally around a 55% FIR guy so seeing success like this was nice. I took driver on everything while the 3 guys who couldn't hit it as far as me were switching up what clubs they were taking off the tee. The 11 fairways led to 10 GIR's and I played pretty good overall. I like the Titan!

Quick and dirty on course review, this shaft is fast, easy to swing and when you don't try to force it, it performs really well.

Today was a round I've not had for a while, consistent strong wind which I felt would provide a good test for the Titan, and it did.

Several holes I tried to force a shot and this shaft did not want to do that, leaving me with very short and bad position drives.

When I swung it, this came alive. The 3rd hole on my home course is a +500 par 5 with OB left, large rough and native right. I've never played it well as I end up pull hooking it OB or trying to avoid that and going far right.

Today, swung and ended up with a high baby draw that the wind took a little but ended up just shy of 330yds. Set me up for a 5 iron just short of the green, chip and two putt par when I normally take 7 or worse.

Hole 16 is another par 5, easiest hole on the course and just swinging gave me a beautiful fade that carried the wind leaving roughly 170 in to the green. Came up short on the second shot, chipped to inside 15ft and made the birdie putt.

First out in real world, this shaft is solid. Smooth and fast is how I would describe it.

Didn’t compare anything yesterday but hit the Titan yesterday on the sim. This is a fun shaft so far. I am seeing a different start line than I am used to but I’m liking it more than my old normal. The ball is coming off the face starting farther right but then drawing back to centerline. The harder I swing, the straighter ball flight I get. It’s a wild thing.

It’s got a great feel to it. Not sure exactly how to explain it. Firm but active where you need it to be.

This shaft did not like to be steered, several holes into the wind I tried to take the wind out by being to cute with setup and swing.

This shaft works so much better when you just swing it.

One of the trickier subjects for golfers, club manufacturers tell you what the 'standard' length is, which has grown from ~45" to over 46" in the quest for speed (longer means it can be swung faster increasing ball speed meaning more distance in theory).
Didn’t have he USGA change the rule to a max of 46”?

How do you think of it compared to the Nexus Black? I’m assuming a little different feel under the hands

I would say they have a similar feel when it comes to activeness throughout the swing.Titan softer in the hands. I didn’t get actual numbers but I think the Titan launches higher than the Nexus.

Got some more swings in the with Titan & Quantum Max combo. Still not looking squarely at numbers just yet but what I've seen is pretty solid. Anyway, this past session I wanted to hit against a couple other options and see if I could feel a difference here. With the same driver head, I hit the Titan, Whiteboard, and Tensei White. All kind of designed to achieve a similar ball flight. I mentioned before when comparing feel vs the WB, which still feels like it's stiffer in the mid/tip section. The biggest loser in this group, which really shocked me, was how that Tensei felt. I carried that shaft with me through three different driver heads over the years because I loved the performance. Honestly, in this quick little rundown, it ranked at the bottom of feel, and the ball flight was not nearly as consistent.

With Titan, I really like the sense that I can swing hard(not that I have a crazy SS) while still getting a softer feel under the hands. This thing really is stable. My miss with it right now is more left, but that's the swing fault I'm dealing with. But, knowing I can be somewhat aggressive has me not flailing shots out to the right. As we get going on week 2 I'm going to shift a little more into ball flight and dispersion.

I was really worried about the Titan feeling more like the T1100 from PX than it does. I wasn't able to hit actual golf balls yet, but messing around yesterday and swapping back and forth hitting practice balls the shaft actually has a good feel to it. It's hard to describe with this profile, but that softer hand section with the Titan does give that impression that it isn't as much of an absolute telephone pole that the T1100 is, but still feels extremely stable. Going to try to get out tonight to get some actual testing in, but even just swinging through with practice balls it gives you a good idea of the feel of the shaft through the swing, and so far I am pleasantly surprised with it.

This is a shaft that I feel gets more accurate the harder I swing. There are points I get too comfortable and swing too hard and just lose my swing trying to hit the ball too hard.... It has been fun so far trying to push this shaft.

Following along with this thread has convinced me, that I need to source one of these shafts for my own testing.

I definitely feel that. I even got a 106 SS reading on one, which is way harder than normal. But seeing me get this up in that 102-104 range is kind of fun. The good part about playing indoors is that I'm not worried as much where the ball goes. Just hard for me to take that swing and move it outside. But maybe with this one that won't be the case as much.

I have that same sense, it wants to be swung hard and you don't lose any feel or accuracy which is really nice. I found that when I tried to control it (make it do things I wanted to beat the wind) I lost accuracy and distance instantly.

Swing hard with it and the distance & accuracy came right back.

That was a lot of my experience with the HZRDUS black from PX too. Would be what I would expect out of the Titan but nice to see others have similar experiences.

Compared with the HZRDUS I find the Titan much easier and smoother. Numbers backed that up after testing it against the Smoke Blue same flex.

Shaft feels like it's working when you swing it strong, I don’t get that feeling from the HZRDUS.

I don't know why, but I love that the graphics at the top of the shaft are almost a bit raised and have a texture to them. Kind of a random cool element.

Totally agree. I know there are some rules against making a full shaft textured, but I love it here.

I havent hit a HZRDUS Shaft before but I think you hit it on the head with it feels like the shaft is working with the Titan. Its suttle but it gives it a nice and smooth feel.

It's been a while since I've hit HZRDUS black. I had the OG in a Cobra driver(f6+ I believe) and it felt like a board to me. I may still have a 4th gen here in a Srixon head I can kind of swing just to get a feel for it, but this one just feels smoother than those that I remember.

I have a black for my Max K I'll test against. I think that will be a better test than the Yellow I have, but I'll throw the yellow into the mix just for fun as well. I think those are two that people looking at PX will be looking for comparisons against.

Time to get to work.

First thing I’ll need to do is match lengths to my fitted length. Will take care of that today and then try to get some time tomorrow to start testing.

For me, I hover currently around a 4hc. Fairly consistent with driver but sometimes can get a little quick in transition which some shafts handle better than others for me.

I hit it high, roughly 120-140ft peak high, and I’ve always looked for equipment to help with launch and spin. Normally look for mid season about 270+ carry but almost never get roll out due to the height and spin. So anything that can help bring the launch down a bit while maintaining ball speed will be fantastic.
ugh that looks incredible honestly. I cant wait to take this from you lol

it gave me some throwback to the Blackbird shaft they did under Grafalloy
