Project X TITAN Black: Built for Speed, Stability, and Control

Snuck out to the range for a quick session with the new shaft. After a few warm up swings with wedges and irons I started to take some hacks with the Titan Driver shaft in my normal C1 setting on the DS Adapt Max K

This thing is stable for my driver swing. I used to be a lot more aggressive but I have started to smooth out my tempo and this shaft felt really good during the swing. I have no idea when someone says they felt the shaft load or unload. I just swing so I can't say that I felt anything different except the stability of the shaft. I kind of think of that after impact is made and whether I feel any "deflection." I have hit shafts where it feels very weak at impact and I really don't know where the ball will go. This one I feel like after impact the club head just keeps going on its path and I expect the ball to be going straight in front of me.

So I don't have a launch monitor so I don't have numbers but from what I was seeing the ball had a good flight for me. It was straightish and had no issues with launch. In my 9 degree head with 1 degree of loft added and 1 degree upright it was still pretty high. I did go to G1 which is 1 degree off standard loft and 1 degree upright and the flight was lower and more penetrating but I don't have an issue at C1. Looking forward to getting it out on the course and seeing it in action.

Finally got home from work and unboxed this bad boy. It’s a great looking shaft and looks awesome in my G440k. I took some practice swings and they just felt fast. I was worried this thing would be stiff as a board but I actually feel like its semi easy to load with the slight flex in the handle. Im extremely excited with the way it feels swinging it and I cant wait to try it out on the range!

It truly is a thing of beauty. The raised “ribs” graphics look amazing.

I’ve been playing golf since I was 4 years old. In high school, I won a state championship alongside JT Poston. I even received a scholarship offer to play at Brevard College, but I turned it down because I wanted to attend a bigger school—I didn’t think Brevard was “good enough” for my goal of playing Division I golf. To this day, that remains one of my biggest regrets.

The last time I kept an official GHIN handicap was about three years ago, and my lowest index was +1.5. I haven’t played enough lately to maintain one—between my 1-year-old and 2-year-old, free time is pretty limited. My three rounds this year have been 70, 80, and 77.

My swing is relatively short with a quick transition, and my driver swing speed typically falls between 105–110 mph. Because of the shorter swing, an extra-stiff shaft can be tough for me to load properly, which often leads to a big right miss (push or slice).

I just took some practice swings with the Titan 6.5 60g (X-stiff), and I’m genuinely excited—it has way more feel than I expected. When I first read that it was designed for fast, aggressive swingers, I pictured something stiff as a board. Instead, the handle section feels a little soft, yet it still has a bit of stiffness that seems to just kind of keep the club square . I can’t wait to get it on the course, and I’m really hoping that happens tomorrow.

What other shafts have you played before the Titan?

Went to a new indoor simulator place to get some first swings with the Titan, place is using the Full Swing system so there was some initial fun setting it up and getting it separate current shaft and the Titan.

Initial feel of the shaft is its fast, and you can swing it really fast.

After getting some driver swings in with the Phoenix (45gm TS) and seeing all shots being draw to a hook, I was not expecting m7ch from the Titan.

Immediately saw launch go up compared with the Phoenix but even better was how much tighter the dispersion was, aside from a really bad swing.

I have the numbers for each shaft but that will take some work to sort them as Full Swing session export and app sync didn't work as fully hoped for. Everything done with my gamer ball from last year as well, 2025 Pro V1

The Icon grip is a beast as well, somehow I managed to leave a glove in my push cart and didn't have one, lovely little blister for my troubles.

Initial thoughts are this shaft is going to be really good.

That's interesting, I have an RDX Blue I wanted to put up against this. Same flex and weight (I think).

Ooo nice little lineup to compare from the past! The Linq would be a interesting to hear the differences

Some background,

I do not have an official handicap, however "The Grint" estimates my handicap as a 10 -12.

I have played golf for almost 20 years. I started around 6 years old in The First Tee and over time graduated to Ace. I played one year of high school golf after stopping playing baseball. Now I try to play golf as much as possible.

I swing around 115-120 mph with a fast/aggressive transition. I am working on improving my tempo and smoothing out my swing to improve consistency.

I currently play Project X shafts in my Driver (HZRDUS Black RDX 6.5), 3W (HZRDUS Black RDX 6.5), and 3h (HZRDUS Black RDX 6.5).
I used to play Project X Rifle shafts in my last iron set.

Current Driver: Callaway Ai Smoke TD 7* (8* lofted down)
Current Shaft: HZRDUS Black RDK 6.5 70g.

i currently play a linq powercore blue 6x. Some other shafts ive used previously are a tour ad-di and tour ad xc, also a newton fast motion.

I edited my previous post with the full size image. My apologies.
Oh you didn’t have to do that! I already took care of it for ya! And all good man! Just helping for future picture posts because this shaft is spectacular looking!

Is this thing similar at all to the Black evenflow riptide shaft? I am looking for its "successor". Miss my old Mavrik with that shaft. Swinging a g430lst with kaili white now but planning to get a quantum TD max. Might just go ventus velo black but curious what the PX option is.

I will have to report back after i hit it. So far I have only taken practice swings. Ive never swung the Evenflow Black but it sounds like it has a similar stiffness throughout the shaft. I do have a Project X Denali Blue which seems to have a lot more of a kick to it than the Titan. I will be able to give a better description once i hit the Titan in a few hours!

I haven’t hit an EV riptide shaft. I have a denali blue shaft that I used to play and the Titan is way more stout

I personally am not familiar with the Riptide. Do you happen to know if the shaft has a "softer" section?

The Titan (from what I have read) is supposed to be a stiffer shaft through the middle and tip with a handle that feels softer to help aid timing for fast/aggressive swingers.

Based on practice swings with the shafts i own, (Linq powercore blue, tour ad xc / di, project x denali blue, & newton fast motion) the Titan feels the closest to the AD XC. The Titan feels similar to the XC profile but has a less mushy/soft handle.

Ok let's get this party started....

First off a little background on me. My name is Dean, according to GHIN I'm currently a 10.7 handicap. Based on recent skytrak+ sessions, my swing speed sits in that 98-104 range. I have a quick-ish transition and battle an over the top move like so many out there. Used to play a draw, now it's whatever shape shows up for that day. Last year I relied mostly on a little bit of cut, with my big miss being the dead pull to the left.

For this testing, I'll be using the Titan 6.0 with a Callaway adapter. I'll mostly be using a Quantum Max for testing, but may throw it on a Quantum Triple Diamond for some swings as well. The setup I've been using lately is that QM head with a Diamana Whiteboard 63s.

PX Titan Combo.jpg

My shaft was officially delivered yesterday, and I immediately threw it on the QM and hit some balls in the garage. Nothing really more than just a quick, get to know you session. Immediately it feels different to me than the whiteboard. For me, I got back and forth between Blueboad and Whiteboard, which makes the WB feel really stout in the tip section. I did not get that feeling here. Sounds funny, but that could be some of the feel I'm getting from a softer handle section which is masking that. Again, not really a session I wanted to dive too much into numbers, but for the last 20 swings I recorded, I was seeing really good ball speeds(147), but more importantly for me, was seeing a pretty consistent launch angle(14.2), and spin in a happy zone for me(2623). Again, not looking too much into that as it was just just a relaxed introduction.

Great photos!

Got a quick range session in before work. I would describe this shaft as being very stable with no noticeable kick like my denali blue has. The launch was extremely consistent and the spin seemed a bit lower than my denali blue or linq powercore blue. The ball really wanted to roll out upon landing and the ball flight was a flatter more boring flight than my other shafts. I had to bump my driver up a degree to 10.5 to get it to launch my ideal height. I haven’t been swinging it my best lately but i hit my driver really well during this session. My normal left miss was still there but only on poor swings. Overall I really like this shaft and Im super excited to put it in play during my trip to Myrtle Beach this weekend. If you have any specific questions about things I didn’t cover here or please feel free to ask me!

First, thank you for the name change, I forgot to mention that yesterday haha.

When you say stable with no kick, does that mean stiff or firm to you? This shaft is being described as having better feel so I'm curious.

No it doesn’t seem overly stiff it’s still got some flow or feel to it just doesn’t have a noticeable kick. It has a smooth feel throughout the swing without feeling harsh or boardy.
