I had asked for suggestions a few weeks ago about where to play while I was in the Great NorthWest. Had a few people mention that I should try out Pronghorn Resort in Bend, OR. My original plan was to play in Bend after the 7 1/2 hour drive to get down here from SandPoint, ID and then spend the night in Klamath Falls, OR and play Running Y Ranch, an Arnold Palmer design. However tee times were not going to be available at Running Y Ranch, so Bend is it

Pronghorn is a resort that host two championship courses, The Nicklaus Signature Course that is open to guests and the Tom Fazio designed course that is members only. Since I don’t have any clout, it would have to be the Nicklaus course, which was more than fine by me. I really enjoyed this course. Jack sometimes makes it rough on the average golfer with some of his course designs but I found Pronghorn to be very playable and pretty friendly. The course was in spectacular condition and the views were awesome. While the pace of play wasn’t the quickest, I didn’t mind as I planned on snapping a few pics to share anyways. If you find yourself in Bend, take the time to play Pronghorn. I can’t recommend it enough.

Most of the time, after you play the public course, you can go into the pro shop and ask to play the private course. Since it is the afternoon, there is less going on and less, if any, members on the course. The only caveat is they make you take a forecaddie.

Nice pictures. Played there 2 years ago with my wife and absolutely loved it. Stayed at the resort which was awesome as well. Back 9 is so good with the views of the mountains.

Great pics, THANKS!

A good friend of mine played there a couple of weeks ago, and said it was a really good course, and that he would go back anytime given the opportunity. Nice to see some photos to bolster his descriptions. :drinks:

That place looks incredible! My former boss who I keep in touch with has a place in Bend, looks like I need to go visit him!

Looks good, glad you enjoyed it.

I loved that course when I played it a few years ago. Then I got to go out on the Fazio course for a tour of the par 3 with the lava tube.
I would love to play that course sometime.

8th hole on the Fazio course.....

Great pics, thanks for sharing.

Love it! I'll be in Bend in September and am trying like hell to squeeze a round in somewhere.

That looks super nice. Thanks for sharing the photos!

great pics @time4tim ...the missus and i were looking at pronghorn as a vacation spot within the year...

I recently moved from NC to Oregon and ended up buying at a place called Brasada Ranch, which is about 8 miles from Pronghorn. While I love my course, I have ventured out and played both the Nicklaus and the Fazio course at Pronghorn. Both are enjoyable courses. While I miss golf in NC, central Oregon has some amazing golf courses!
