Friendly reminder to get them if you are of age....

A friend of mine never got his, just simply didn't think about it, ended up getting shingles, and it's unfortunately become permanent. :(

Both my father in law and my friend have said the pain is unreal, and my friend is now having to take all kinds of nasty pain killers to just keep it from not ruining everything he tries to do. It's rare to have it not go away, but the risk is just too great, go get your shots!

i just had my annual check-up yesterday, and my doctor emphasized going in to get my Shingles vaccine. (i'm 52)
i'll be getting it asap, as i don't want that misery!

I've had shingles and it is the most awful thing I've ever experienced. I don't wish it on anyone. Haven't got the vaccine though

Ugh….this has been a debate in my head.

Not quite old enough... but having grown up an army brat, I just get the dang shots when they say I should. In my head, they can't come up with anything worse than what I've already been exposed to or injected with

You can get the shots after the fact... apparently the odds go up that you can get shingles again.

Thanks.

Took no chances with this crap. I have mine already ... thankfully!

Be aware that series of shots (2) kicked the sh#t out of me but I guess its less pain in the long run!

yeah, i could have gotten the first one today or tomorrow, but i'm going to wait until after spring break / golf next week.

Yeah, the first one I didn't feel great for a day or two, the second one I was completely fine, but your mileage may vary, lol!

As soon as I turned 50 I got the shots having had chicken pox as a kid.

Yes, the shots will beat you up a bit but the alternative is way worse.

I got shingles while I was in college! Not fun at all

I had an employee that got shingles that were really bad. Besides the body and the itching he got it on a significant part of his face. It caused a facial droop due to loss of mistake control, and impacted his vision in one eye. The pain was really bad and the medication he was taking to help with the pain meant he wasn’t able to work effectively for a while.

So as others have said, get the shots.

Yep lol. I got it maybe three years ago. SUCKED.

Got poked 2 years ago, was no big thing.

I got mine 3 years ago

I had never thought about it, did not remember ever having had chicken pox, but.....nonetheless, got a shingles attack in mid-year 2020 at age 83. So I probably had chicken pox as a child, but unremembered. As others have said, very painful. I had to wait several months to get the Shingrix shot(s) because of some other health problems. But now am glad I did. Only a slight defense: no doctor had ever suggested getting a Shingrix shot over all the years.

I’ve already had shingles. Had chicken pox as a kid. Not sure if I’ll take the vaccine or not since I’ve already dealt with it.

i got shingles about 10 years ago and it sucked. i got it on my back, it's like a burning pain and every time you move whatever you have on rubs against it and its crazy painful.

i'm not sure if they had the vaccine back then, if they did it wasn't talked about like it is now. now you can walk into any cvs and get the vaccine. if you haven't gotten the shot, i would advise it. i have heard about people getting it on their face....i can only imagine that pain.

Same and it was horrible I need to go get mine also.

Agreed. We've both had ours. The first one put us down for a day. The second round knocked us out for three days. I haven't felt that bad in years, even when I came down with a nasty case of strep two years ago. The alternative is worse, though.

Never had shingles but my boss is recovering from it. It was around her head, dangerously close to her eye and has even damaged her hearing in one ear. Especially tough for a woman, where appearance is everything. She's 52.
