I set up an outing with 8 guys and we play 3 rounds.

Does anyone have a good random pairings generator or easy way to set this up?

Thanks ⛳

Good question. We have a team event coming in June (I believe) for our AZTHP group. I'm curious how teams will be picked..........

You could do a quick and easy random pairings draw in Excel. Or just assign guys a number and use a random number generator to assign the groups. Basically picking from a hat, but with technology

We used one for a golf tournament I did for a bachelor party a couple years ago.

I think it was randomgroupgenerator.com or something similar.

Numbers in a hat?

I’m pretty low tech but seems like it would work.

Unless you up it to 4 rounds this is about as good as you can do with 8 players. Everyone plays twice with 3 players and one time with 3 other players. But everyone misses out playing with one guy unfortunately. If your group is OK with it all being random the simplest way would be to draw names from a hat to match each player with a letter 'A-H' and then fill schedule out with player names instead.

Here's a curve ball....Our group does a round robin. The perfect for 8 guys is 7 plays...add an extra 9 holes and swap out after every 9. It sounds awkward but everybody plays with everybody once as his partner and twice against every other person. If you stay with just 3 rounds you could do it with the database but it wouldn't be perfect. I use golfgenius as they have provided this. Excuse how it pasted, I'm no techie...

I was thinking along the same lines - simple as can be.

For our men's club when we do random pairings, everybody gives one golf ball to the coordinator. He tosses them up in the air, and you pick groups by whose golf balls land closest to the others. Decidedly low-tech, but it works.
