Does not matter much to me but spice it up more and only pay them if they win. 😏

If they stopped having commercials every 3 shots and showed the event ad free, I'd agree with not paying players!

Why should corporations rake in cash and the players not receive anything?

All those rich, greedy a$$holes can go pound sand. Pro golf is just dead to me. 100% greed fest anymore. I have no use for any of them. Just like I have no use for all the bro golfers. My opinion of both groups is pretty much the same. They're not worth a 💩.

Nothing beats Scottie crying on the Olympic podium. Nothing like national pride and accomplishing such a feat. I think there is a two-fold issue in the country today inching us toward paying Ryder Cup participants. Plurality and relativism today seeks to move away from patriotism and nationalism and show that there are no great countries in the world, they're all relative to one another. Maybe paying players is a way to convince some who have come to believe in this globalist relativism. The second issue is money. Everyone wants to be compensated.

So I can see paying caddies and paying for a player's expensive, but I wish everyone just participated for national pride. Heck the European team isn't even a country, it's a continent and guys like Shane Lowry have said they're working their whole year to make the team.

I look at it this way, if an organization is going to squeeze out every single cent out of us for tickets and corporations to advertise, I think they can play 10 million to the players. They require volunteers to pay $350 to volunteer.
The bolded part is absurd and wrong.
My understanding is they currently make a sizeable donation to each players charity of choice.

Given that donation I'm kind of disgusted with the PGA players on this one. Given they earned their spot on the team with their play we pretty much know they are among the better compensated players on tour. Tour revenues have gone up and up and up. Guys at the top end are not hurting. This is a money grab that looks ugly (and dare I say "ugly American")

They should be paid for their time. If they don't feel like they deserve it they can donate it to the charity of their choosing.

The groups that lose out if the players get paid are the charities that currently receive donations from the PGA via the players.

12 players @ 400,000 each = 4.8 million. That has to come from somewhere ?

I can see the players point. If the event's goal was to break even, then I think the players would "volunteer" their time. But with admission fees and commercials, the organizers are making quite a penny, and really on the backs of the players. So I can see why they want to be compensated.

European players would pay to play.

I think the winners should get paid.

The losers should get what they are getting now. That, or nothing.

I have also read that the European team has stated they do not need to be paid to represent Europe. Kind a good slap there I thought.

The idea of getting paid, even if you lose, has never set well with me.

I don’t care either way.

In my opinion their travel and expenses should be paid for but beyond that no I do not think they should be paid to play

I don't see it being bad. I don't think the amount being talked about is going to matter to any of those that would play in this though.

The European players get travel, accommodation and ancillary costs covered to the highest level. They also get kitted out fully. I suspect their sponsors have extra cash if they are picked. So they don’t go short.

I still don’t get why this would be a big deal, or shocking really.

I would be on board with this, if they also were allowed to capture their own media stuff.

Just seems like a no brainer to me. It should be an honor to represent your country in sport, not a paycheck.

Don’t disagree, However, when competing in the Olympics, one clearly represents the USA. Being a player on the PGA of Americas American team is not even close to same in my book.
