I honestly don’t know the rule on that. I would think he’s out but I’m not sure. lol

I am not clear. I would say he is out. But I think that means he is safe.

It’s in the caption lol he’s out. Helmet cannot be detached

It's an out. It's also a warning to the team because you aren't supposed to intentionally remove a helmet.

I didn’t read the caption. I clicked it and it took me to the video on IG. I didn’t think you’re allowed to remove your safety protection while on base.

Out

You can’t use equipment to do stuff. Just like you can’t catch a ball with your hat.

He’s way out

Out.

Also, f*** PCA. lol

👍

Based on the context of the post saying the rule says using a detached piece of gear to touch the base and avoid a tag I’d say he’s out. It looks like he intentionally took it off with the intent of using maintain contact with the base.

Out, that is headgear not any longer worn on his head. People could start using shin guards to get a longer lead off base while still on. If he wore it and slid in head first...safe.

That's dumb.

You can take the finger of a runner's batting gloves tuckento his back pocket and he's out...but this is an out?

Out

That's so freaking dumb, the foot long hand protectors are dumb enough, don't need this as well

I would call it out.

Out. Even if the rules were different he’s out for taking off his helmet and doing too much.

It’s actually an interesting question, because base runners often wear padded “oven mitts” for protection, and those extend at least a few inches past their fingertips. So if the mitt touches the base before the tag when the hand inside might not, is that guy safe or out? As far as I know that’s never been tested/appealed, so I have no idea what the ruling would be.

I guess it is like the defensive player holding the glove rather than wearing it with the ball in it. 🤷‍♂️ I personally would change the rule

I’ll also say out.

Out! You can't use equipment.

It's only the same as the OP video if he wears the mitts on his head

I think it's an out...if not because that's what the rule says, then because it's PCA.

Out I am pretty sure just for the intentional helmet removal
