Scheyden Precision Eyewear Review

Was a fun testing thread. Definitely helps when the product is solid.
These turned out amazing! Everyone did fantastic work (and fingers crossed, that includes me!). I'm already planning on getting more than one pair!

This was an interesting and challenging item to review. Very happy I was selected. It’s an item I would have never purchased but now know it’s something I should have bought myself a while back.

Got my Scheyden CIA Grabbers yesterday. They are prescription and I got the dark lens.

Initial thoughts: they are bigger than my Oakley's but fit well and are comfortable for the time I wore them. They worked nicely driving around last night in overcast skies/rain. Prescription seems good. I had a code for 20% off so the cost of frames and lenses was about the same as replacement lenses for my Oakley's.

I will be going to the range tonight and playing a tournament on Sunday so hopefully have some good feedback to share next week.

And before anyone asks, yes, all my pictures look like mugshots. I r not photogenic.

Got mine today. Bought based on the THP'ers reviews. Also picked up a pair of Tifosi Rivets, considering these seem to be the runner-ups to the Scheyden's.

Alright, I have had my Scheyden CIA Grabbers for a week now and here are my thoughts. Will compare to my Oakley Flak 2.0 XLs as that is what i have been using for the past three years.

Lens: Presription, yes. The lenses are flawless. No ripples or distortion that I could find anywhere. I got the LT16 color and it is slightly darker than the Oakley Prizm dark golf. Being in Colorado this is OK though I may consider a pair of the lighter (L33) lenses for those overcast and late day rounds.

Weight: pretty much the same as my Oakleys.

Size: Frame is a bit wider than the Oakley. Lenses are also bigger than the Oakley. I actually like this now that I have worn them for a few days. I do not feel like I am getting the side-eye edge of lens view.

Fit: The Grabbers sit a little lower on my nose, but I have not found this to be an issue. The nose piece is larger than Oakley but has been comfortable, and I had them on for hours without removing or adjusting. The temples do have some adjustability, though I have made minimal changes. The rubber material is "grabby" and they hold head and hat well.

Price: I had a code for 20% off, so the price out the door for the frame and Rx lenses was $380, including shipping. Oakley is currently giving 50% off Rx lenses so I built a pair and the cost was $541, not including shipping or tax.

Value: Off the charts good.

Some people have mentioned that the included case has worn off the mirror finish on the lenses. I am using an aftermarket case that I can clip to my bag so that will hopefully not be an issue.

Do you know your hat size? I'm either a one or two snaps on a snap back, have tried other brands in this style but always too small

I believe 7-1/4, but that is also dependent on the hat maker. I rarely buy fitted hats.

I have never used the case with mine. They literally sit on top my hat when not in use and that includes when I take my hat off at home. I haven’t noticed any wear issues at all. I don’t wear them everyday because I would certainly get them scratched up or chemicals on them at work but any time I am not at work I use them. No issues at all with mine and the only time the sun is ever a problem with them on for me is when it sits perfectly in my direct line of sight on the golf course in a late afternoon. Nothing is going to help with that though.

Thank you! This was really helpful. I'm in the same boat in that getting updated Rx Oakley lenses is more expensive than a buying a new pair of Scheyden's. My vision has slipped to the point where I was choosing to wear my regular glasses. I'll order a pair today.

I have a spreadsheet of all my golf purchases each year. I've labeled everything that I've bought because of THP. I hope my wife never opens that spreadsheet lol.

You will enjoy these for sure. I wear mine all the time when not at work. Most the time I forget I even have them on.

I have a pair of prescription CIA Grabbers on order. Hopefully arrive next week.

@mantan After my order was placed , a rep called to ask me for my “PD” - pupil distance (?). Had to track that down. If you know that, add it to the notes to your order to avoid any delay in processing.
