SeeMore Mini Giant HTX Putter Review

My first round with the putter left me without any real impressions. Scrambles are so different than playing your own ball. The way we do is that the first person putting tries to show the line and if not making the putt, leaving an easy second putt. Then, the rest of the foursome goes for it. This type of strategy sometimes causes me to roll the ball well past the hole and does not give me a good sense of distance control. I am excited to get it out for a normal round and see how I roll it.
How's your experience with the alignment and setting up to the ball been?

In particular, that was one thing I really have enjoyed about the putter. I feel like (as long as my line is correct) I can easily set up correctly.

I agree totally. The RST alignment makes set up with a SeeMore as simple as any any putter that I have tried. In addition, the size and angular shape of this head facilitates alignment. I putted with a Mini Giant several years back and it was very friendly with respect to alignment. This seems even more so.

@Hawk, thanks for the review of this putter. It helped push me over the edge and I absolutely love this thing. I can’t remember the last time I had so much confidence in a putter.

Nice - I am really happy to hear that!

I could not be more happy with this putter. This weekend, I was lucky enough to make about a 35 footer for birdie on hole number 2. Hole 3 is a par 5. I reached the green in 2, but was a long way from the hole. I left my first putt about 8 feet short and muttered, “I had 3 putting for par.” However, I lined up my second putt and made it for the birdie. One of the guys in my foursome was laughing at me and I was smiling, too. Using a Triple Track ball and the RST alignment aid makes it about as fool proof as you can find.

Love to hear it @Tenputt !

The RST is without a doubt the best alignment aide for putters. It just flat out works. I think it's time to throw a SeeMore back in the bag for a bit.

Right now, I have 3 putters that a love for one reason or another. This SeeMore is one of them. I played a few rounds with one of the others and I putted decently, but I have been playing out of my mind and had been hitting an unusually high number of greens, leaving myself a lot of true birdie looks. I felt like I should have been making more than I did. I put this SeeMore back in the bag yesterday and throughout the round, I felt much more confident and dropped a couple more putts throughout the course of the round that I had been missing. Right now, the SeeMore is pretty cemented in the bag.

I definitely haven't found a compelling reason to take it out of the bag.

I don't really track stats these days, but had an anecdotally solid putting round my last time out. Hit a handful of 5-10 foot putts that saved holes for me.

I'll admit I'm not terribly interested in scores this year, so I tend to spend less time sizing up putts than I have in the past. Quit using the alignment line too. Interestingly, results seem to be the same, if not better. I do attribute some of that success to how easy it is to align both my aim and my setup with HTX.

Putter has been my rotating club this year. Scotty Cameron Super Select Newport 2.5 Plus, Cobra 3D Supernova and PXG Battle Ready 2 Bat Attack. Today I put the Seemore Mini Giant HTx in the bag for league play. 13 Putts, including a long fringe putt and three one putts and no 3 putts. Have rolled several versions in the past, this one is a keeper, just easy to line up and great balance.

Two things that come immediately to mind for me as well.

Really felt like I as all over the hole with the HTX over the weekend. Only managed to drop one really meaningful putt, but we were mostly doing that thing where you take really long lag putts and then try to clean it up. Distance control and aim was really good though. Just hard to make putts from so far away.

One thing I'd improve on with this putter is the sound. Definitely not my favorite of all time. Not off-putting or offensive, but I think it could be better.

Agreed. It is pretty good when hit absolutely dead square, but a tiny bit off and it becomes much less pleasing, at least to my ear.

Yea just bit high pitched. It's not glaring by any means. I'm nitpicking, but I think that's how you make something really good into something great.

Played a scramble Saturday. Used the HTx, sank 4 birdie putts for my team, 3 were from 15 feet or longer. One was about 30 feet. So the putter was working. The key was using the tech. When I got a little lazy, I’d miss the putt, mostly burned edges, with easy 2nd putts if it wasn’t a scramble. Yes, the sound is ok, when hit center. I’d love to try a version with the TPU insert from the past just to compare.

Man, I had quite a few burned edges the other day too. Always a good sign, even if it is a little frustrating.

Another day of burning edges, but another day of very acceptable distance control. I recently quit using the line on the ball to putt and I'm wondering if I need to go back.

This thing must set up right for my stroke, because I'm not missing the center very often. Roll seems pretty good. I haven't noticed any skipping on long putts, which I'm prone to do at times.

Dropped more putts in the 6-10 foot range than I have in a while yesterday. Had a little trouble adjusting to some slower green speeds and ended up leaving myself short a handful of times early in the round. Was lucky to save par or bogey on a few occasions.

If I start actually putting some effort into my putting I think I could put together a pretty good score. The other parts of my game have been solid, but I'm just lazy on the greens and don't invest much time in getting a read. Nonetheless, I'm scaring the hole a bunch and making a few here and there. Still think this is the easiest putter to aim and check alignment with. Something about the shape works so well with RST.

Who made a birdie putt?

Really not my best putt of the day, but it was nice to convert. Wanted to talk a little about distance control, forgiveness, and setup though.

This is not a flex, but I really don't miss the center of the face with a putter that often these days. It happens, but it's always a little surprising. I had a 20 foot birdie putt up a small slope in my last round that I toed though. I was so annoyed that I did that stupid thing where you just turn around and walk away instead of watching the ball. When I turned back around I noticed the ball was 6 inches from the cup (short left). Yay for MOI.

Distance control has been consistent for me with the HTX, but I did have some issues early in my round with LONG lag putts. With putts like this I have really low expectations to start with, but I was bummed to see myself 10-15 feet short a few times. A very consistent 10-15 feet. Finally on my last hole I decided to adjust my mental aim point to a spot past the pin and ended up with a tap in from 50 feet. Don't expect that every time, but it was nice to see that I was able to recognize and make an adjustment on the fly.

Finally, setup. I was feeling a little weird with that at first, probably because I hadn't touched the putter in two weeks. I was able to get myself squared away quickly, 100% thanks to RST. I'll just reiterate what has worked so well for me in case anybody is looking for a decent method.

  • After getting my line, I pick an intermediate point.
  • Aim the putter directly at that intermediate point with my left hand on the putter.
  • Take my stance and make sure the dot is gone.
  • Grip the putter with both hands.
I naturally want to set up with the ball too far back and the RST makes it very easy to avoid that issue.

I can't see this putter leaving my bag any time soon. I feel like I'm dropping more putts between 3-10 feet than I have in a long time, and I just feel really comfortable with my alignment, stance, and setup.

It's a sleeper. One of those putters I feel like people would be really, really happy with if they gave it a shot.

one of my best putting rounds in recent memory with this putter in the bag today. On the back 9, it was on fire for several holes, with a one putt from 7 feet, a tap in two putt from more than 100 feet with a break of more than 5 feet, a one putt from 15 feet, a two putt from 25 feet and a one putt birdie from about 12 feet. I think that I am going to stick with this putter for the remainder of the golf season.

Is there anyone using one of these other than @Hawk and me?
