Sergio Garcia Signs with Callaway

Good for Callaway. Hopefully he isn't signed elsewhere.

Funny to read the first few pages and now the last couple of pages.

Since the Master's win, he hasn't brought much a positive light to his image and I think this is a fine move for both sides. Not really much of a story IMO.

its funny, he doesn't seem like a Ping guy to me. I would have figured he'd find his way to PXG

Wonder if ol King of Spain Miguel had influence there.

He does seem like a perfect fit for PXG though haha

Did you not watch ANYTHING that transpired with him since the signing?

Back in 2007, when he spit in the cup at Doral. I became no longer a fan of Sergio. The bad acting he has done in more recent years should not surprise Tour golf fans, and I don't know why Callaway (or any other established brand) would want to be associated with the guy. Honestly if I was named Solheim and Garcia called asking for equipment, I would tell him no to free stuff , but if he wanted to play Ping I could not stop him from going to his local golf store and paying retail.

Meh, maybe Ping will get a discount... does he fit eith PXG?

Some of the comments here are quite frankly embarrassing! So much praise for when he signed and when they part ways there is lots of “told you so” from the same people, fickle comes to mind!

I’d never seen his green damaging antics prior to the last couple of years. It’s not being fickle.

Or, opinions of some were changed by his recent antics. I know I’m in that camp. Sometimes opinions really do just change.

Or maybe he became a piece of s*** after he signed....

Ping doesn't seem like the natural fit for Sergio (taking his bad on course behavior out of the mix) Taylormade seems more the fit but it appears he's burning bridges as he goes down the road.

Or since he started playing golf??

I think he is a free agent and playing what he wants. The ping stuff is all great so it makes sense he would pick them. Plus with Pings business style if he does not a fit he will not be playing them for long. They are sooo strict. Ping will pull accounts if clubs are discounted and they find out. If you sell a club early, if they see adds out before they want them.

They show up with masks and black bags and you are never seen again.

I hope no one picks him up. The less he’s seen and talked about the better. People I’ve talked to say he’s a nice guy, but what I’ve seen I am not a fan.
Ouch! Seems a little harsh.

Ping is like the gateway drug to PXG, lol

While his behavior related to Golf may be off putting I remember when my son was about 2-3yrs old and we were at the WGC tournament in Doral and my brother in law, who is a Doral Police Officer, was his escort for the tournament. After 1 of the rounds my brother in law took me over to meet him, and after a handshake Sergio grabbed my kids (he asked Of course) and carried him around to shake other peoples hands and do so some signings with him. It was awesome!! Say what you will but that will always mean something to me and he has my respect!

Pretty sure he was the same way prior to the signing too haha, I remember being taken back a bit by his initial Callaway signing based on his reputation up to that point. And it only got worse during his years with Callaway.

I was never really a fan of the signing. But as Harry said on a show once, you try something and learn from it.

that’s awesome! Like I said people have told me the same that have met him. I just can go off what I see personally on TV. Whether that’s wrong or right it’s all I got.

I know Sergio has done some pretty egregious things. Spitting in the cup being probably the worst. I do feel that we as golfers can all understand being frustrated though and cut him a touch of slack. This game will get the better of you at some point.

Also, there are some pretty regular instagram posts of people staging throwing clubs, in lakes, and snapping clubs after bad shots and doing other really stupid things on a golf course that I completely think are ridiculous. So obviously many many can relate to his temper tantrums if people are setting up videos to break and toss clubs.

Sergio playing good is one of the best watches there is. He is such an amazing ball striker. Hopefully with the wife and child he cools down a bit and realizes that he does not want that to be his legacy.
