Share your Morgan Cup Memory

Surely you have something from all of the follow-along reading

It looks awesome.. I started posting here about a year ago. So not too much experience. Joined in June but didn't really participate till around now..

My favorite moment was during the 2019 Morgan Cup, Friday night back at one of our houses at Haig Point, drinking some beverages and picking the brain of @Master Yagley for what seemed like many hours. Coincidently there was quite a bit of talk about Cobra getting into the putter market during that discussion, and low and behold it ended up coming to fruition this year (I’m sure a lot of the talk internally and partnerships with other companies were already underway at that point).

my second favorite moment was the opening tee shot (my first ever shot at a THP experience). Needless to say it was pretty nerve-wracking standing over that tee shot knowing you had to hit it 190-250 (depending on line) to get it over the water and dry on the fairway. Luckily for me, I hit my best drive of the weekend, and then @WICHITAREJECT stuck the approach shot to 3 feet for an opening birdie/net eagle. Too bad the rest of the drives didn’t go that well the rest of the weekend haha.

I'm sure I did. The Howy Longshanks gets tossed around quite a bit!
I don't recall this How Longshanks. Though it is possible it was brought up after darts and my memory may have been slightly cloudy.:ROFLMAO:

Similarly I am going to say my favorite moment was watching @BuckNasty hit the best 5 wood ever on #15 to reclaim the momentum after I 3 putted #14 to lose to @jdtox and @93civiccpe two of the nicest guys you could hope to play with/against.....still using the superglue trick BTW!!

So many memories.

I had the luck of getting the Golden Ticket in the 2018 Holiday Cheer and used it for the 2019 Morgan Cup. I got paired to Team Paradise. The number of people that reached out in my PMs to give me advice made me realize that I was entering into something incredible. Getting to know the team leading up to the event, the horrors of teeing off on the first match over that water, the food/course, and getting to know Team Hackers really made the entire event special. I wrote up somethings to memorialize the event for me and I go back to read my fellow competitors remarks. I say it was the best weekend of my life, and I absolutely mean it.

Great use of that Golden Ticket!

You and @Tenputt had some of the best recovery shots during our Best Ball and Pinehurst Match. That 5 wood (?) from the junk on the nasty par 5 was spectacular.

one of my favorite memories from the event was actually the pre-event round. it was a beautiful day, and most of us played lpga international. i actually played pretty well, so i was feeling good. we all parked ourselves at a big table outside overlooking the 18th green and ordered drinks. it was chill and great to be with everyone. it started raining a little, and for some reason @chefkritter felt the need to flex and prove he could hit the green from 250 out with a 3w. ...in the rain! so there was some side-action, and chef hopped in a golf cart with a witness (i might be wrong but i think it was jake) and off they went. he lost the bet lmao
It was Jake and I think someone else was hanging on the back of the cart too lol. Jake was the one that made him the bet. I am thinking it was close though and without the rain he might have pulled it off. Pretty sure the bet was he had to be pin high but not on the green though.

1st memory was just getting selected.

Most members these days just can't understand ... the Morgan Cup is still insanely awesome but in days past it was THE event, something on a scale you can't really imagine. Getting picked was like seeing presents under the tree on Christmas morning + winning the lottery + finding a Willy Wonka gold ticket in your chocolate bar all at once.

Too many to list so I'll throw some up in multiple posts. I'll start with this one...

The most nervous I have probably ever been on a tee shot was the opening tee shot of the very first Morgan Cup. Not just my first Morgan Cup, the first ever Morgan Cup. Remember that for a trivia questions years from now haha Reunion Resort, first hole was a slight dogleg left, which that side was guarded by a tree. Took my Razr Hawk driver(Callaway Sponsored player), and went over the tree and found the left side of the fairway. My partner hit it in the right rough and we played my shot. Format was a 2-man scramble. It took about 2-3 holes to get comfortable on the course that morning, because after the nerves building up on hitting that shot, I needed to come down from the high of hitting a good one.
One of my fondest #THPMC memories is when you called me as my captain before that year's cup, I felt like I knew you even before we even met in person!

And the nerves I felt on that first tee shot, after Josh made the intros and walking down the hill trying not to trip, putting the ball on the tee and hoping I could get it to stay there, remember to breathe while swinging, just being happy I made contact, and then actually have it land in the fairway was a huge sigh of relief!

There are too many memories both from the events that I followed which drew me in to this amazing community to actually competing in the event to choose just one. I've made some lifelong friends through it and there were so many surreal moments. @BuckNasty hitting that 5 wood was spectacular and I'll never forget some of the shots that @WICHITAREJECT and @Tenputt pulled off. The number of ripped fairway woods from dodgy lies that you guys made look easy still have me jealous and wanting to sign up for your master class on!! There are other memories like driving down the beach at sunset in the suped up golf carts to dinner and the party at the captains house the last night which I'll never forget. On top of this getting to know each other as well as Jose and Yags was just incredible.

I remember you teeing off first that hole and ripping a gorgeous shot that we all thought was next to the pin, only to get up there and see you were a couple yards off the back edge, that was fun hole!

Wow, one memory? It's probably that everyone I interacted with that weekend were just extremely incredible people and were all just in awe of the ride. My opponents, my teammates, the captains, JB/Golfergal...they were all there with one thought in mind - contribute to an absolutely unbelievable weekend put on by an incredible company and the best community out there.

I can and do understand. Finding out that I was selected is a memory that I will cherish forever.

Were there any "just decent" shots in our foursome that day? I remember a lot of incredible shots mixed in with our fair share of terrible ones! :ROFLMAO: That was a wild, awesome day.

Your final day match with @phoffer was epic.. I was glad to be able to watch it firsthand!!

😂 the battle between you and @phoffer was a ton of fun to watch as a spectator, I couldn’t believe some of the putts you guys were draining. Man I’d give anything to go back to that weekend and relive it, one of the best weekends of my life.

Dang, so many for me..... of the ones I can share telling @LittleRat the "origin" story for my forum name and somehow keeping a straight face is up there, as well as @JB making me tell that same story to our poor caddie at the patriot club.... but really it was hanging while we asked questions to @Master Yagley and littlerat and when we got the pairings and found out I was playing with Yags and our captain Jake (RIP my man).

The whole weekend was amazing and I got to meet some amazing friends that I need to catch up with again @JimBetts @KEV @X.Man @bigskyirish plus others but I am tagging almost everyone on THP so I will leave it there.
Love those - right there with you on them. Plus the way we ran into Yags and Jose at the airport.

So many memories for me of my experience in The Morgan Cup!

First memory for me was the sign up thread and then the staggered announcement thread where it seemed like it went on forever. When @JB would post that the first page was updated and seeing the list of the participants for each team grow I was on the edge of my seat the entire time.

When my name was listed there, I seriously didn't think I read it right, but I started getting tagged on posts and got a PM from my Cap @jdtox literally minutes after my name was selected. Excitement ensued and I just couldn't believe it.

So many more memories, but getting to play along side @jdtox was amazing on that first day. Although I made the exact opposite type of shot that @H8tobogie made on 18th hole, I had an absolute blast from start to finish!

Getting to know @LittleRat during the practice round and listening to him in terms of how he approaches holes, and really every shot, was incredible. The man is a wealth of knowledge.

Raising the cup for Team Paradise is one memory that will never fade.

I kept draining putts and @phoffer would just pour it in on top! Was a fun match to be a part of. That being said, don't discount your guys match...that back nine was an incredible display of golf, hydration, and survival. Wasn't sure your match would make it past the 10th hole...then all the sudden @BuckNasty comes out of nowhere to play some of the best golf of the weekend!

“Recovery,” denoting that our tee shots were extremely forgettable. 😂

That whole weekend was insanely fun. I remember giving serious thought to re-booking my flight home (it was really early in the morning) just so I could stay up later with everyone the last night at the Margaritaville down by the casino floor.
