I was skeptical at first as well. Then the more I thought about it the more I realized my watch doesn't do a great job with hazards and I don't necessarily like having to pull out my phone to look at a hole map and also make sure the battery lasts the whole round. Will I go out and buy one immediately? No, but I am starting to see where it would be useful.
 
Like many, my home course offers a gps map unit on the cart. But (and this is a big but) you have to physically press it on every single hole to close the advertising and see the golf hole. Such a huge pain that it makes it all but useless. And the gps lag is atrocious, so often on your 2nd shot it's still providing distance from the tee. Having your own unit from Shot Scope that you know will be reliable, fast, and accurate eliminates any chance of poor tech provided by the course. And then of course, the clip to attach to your bag for walking? Genius.
 
After seeing the in-hand pictures, I definitely need one of these. Being able to attach it to my cart or push cart is great. Love the full size screen too. Trying to fiddle around with the watch can sometimes be a PITA and this would solve basically every issue I have with the watch.
 
Not much mentioned about the shot tracking side of it - I assume it has an RFID reader somewhere and you tap it like with Connex just without the phone?

Love the addition of green maps, and having a dedicated device for tracking and GPS vs using my phone with Connex, which would free the phone up to stay in the cart or be used for THP without the app losing its place.
 
This looks pretty darn cool. I don’t love/use the hole map on the x5 as it’s just too small. This could add a huge new piece of the puzzle

I hope that features works like the Garmin G80 for ex. Just have to click measure shot before you take off then when you get to your ball save the distance to a club.

This is where I’m at. There’s a handful of apps I could download but I have to keep my phone out and then battery life suffers as well. I don’t like watches on while golfing. So this fits a nice middle of all of those issues. Would be genuinely interested to try it at my course and see how it does.

You nailed it, batt life suffers on your phone, not to mention depending where you are at, the heat outside can drain batt life. I like a separate device and not have to depend on exhausting my phone batt
 
Didn't see it mentioned. I wonder how much this weighs?

Love that it's a USB-C charger.

I'm used to the watch now since I have to track steps for health insurance purposes, however I have one of the "cheaper" Garmin watches and cycling through hazard distances can be a pain, plus it doesn't have some dog leg distances
 
I'd like to hear more about the shot tracking capabilities. Does it use Connex tags/regular Shot Scope tags, or is the tracking all done manually on the device? It could be a great option for those who want shot tracking but don't want to wear a watch.

I like my watch and all things considered it serves its purpose and never bothered me. This will give me all the watch gives me but with a larger screen, that is where I make the jump
 
This looks like an awesome option for people. Also love using a non-proprietary charger. This looks like a winner to me!
 
Well, ShotScope has done it again. This looks like a very practical piece of equipment for most. Especially since I golf at courses that don't have in-cart GPS systems, this would be well worth it for $199 and so sub fees. The magnet is a game changer and just place it on the cart and you always have a in-cart GPS no matter where you're at. Love it! I'm also hoping you can track shots with it if you already have the SS tags. Rather not wear the watch if this is the alternative. That would make it a no-brainer to purchase.
 
Looks really nice. ShotScope liking it in these releases. Be back to read more later today.
 
My first thought reading the article was why wouldn't I use my phone for this. It does make sense what Gavin said and having the cart magnet with it always on.
 
After seeing these in hand photos I will own one!!!

This allows you to disconnect from your phone during a round. When I’m on the golf course, unless it’s a THP experience, my phone is in the bag so I’m not distracted.
 
I was like I don't need this I have a phone and a watch.

Now I see the cart magnet and I'm like....this makes sense.

I'm such a tool when it comes to this stuff. LOL.
 
Man this nails exactly what I am looking for in this type of device. It’s fantastic to see shot scope really start to hit their stride will all the options

Yeah, it makes perfect sense. This is why I don't wear my apple watch anymore playing golf either. disconnect.
