Shot Scope V5 Golf Watch Review

You can view the overhead on the watch or the overhead on the phone using my strategy while playing
I knew about the option on the watch. I’ll have to try out the phone option again. I figured once I’m able to get a round in with @Dougie he’ll show me some of the things I’m missing 🙂

He’s a master of tech. I though I was good but dang if he’s not better

😂 have you seen him bumble around Instagram!?!?

My 7i sensor just broke today. That was disappointing

Quick question. King Tec irons were finally added to the database and I put them in "My Bag" I expected all my performance metrics to be blank since I haven't used those clubs yet but some of my 923 irons from 2023 are still showing up in my averages when filtered to "Active Only" is this normal? Do I need to do something to 'deactivate' those old 923's?

If memory serves, you have to do a bit of maintenance on the clubs. When you go into My Bag, you've got to remove all of your old clubs so that your bag is blank. Then click each club and add a new one so that it replaces those other clubs. If you just change the club to your new King Tec it keeps the same stats from old. Ran into this when switching over to my Grandaddy bag, and made some mistakes with how I created them that caused me a bit more work to fix.

Ok cool. What the process here was is I created each club 5i - 58° in the box on the left by clicking the ‘Add Club’ button. Then after I added them to that box on the left (Unassigned Clubs) I removed a 923 from the left box and replaced it with the corresponding King Tec. I did that individually for each.

I hope I didn’t mess it up and have to start over. It was a pretty long process tbh.

Sounds like you did it the right way, to your point I've had to filter to active only as well to remove old clubs showing up. I wish they'd make that the default .... @Scooby45 any chance you can ask that question?? Why does it show all clubs in the performance instead of defaulting to only active clubs?

This sounds like desktop? In the app it was pretty easy to take clubs in and out. It defaulys to the club slot which is pretty nice when added new clubs, then just a few clicks into which OEM and model and away you go

That's a good question to ask. Flip side is it does default to a yearly filter so unless you are a super flipper it doesn't get cumbersome, even if you are one that flips in one or two more clubs.

Yes desktop figured it would be a lot easier to individually input 5i - GW on the computer than on the phone screen. It was 5 mouse clicks, typing in two cells, and dragging and dropping. x7

As someone who thinks about UX/UI and efficiency it was a lot to do.

How would you reduce it? Not sure how you really reduce to be able to track club type, OEM, and model to reduce clicks.

I have, to your point, always wondered why 'type' is a field when the club type is the next choice.

Input as a set. In my mind I should be able to select an iron set.

For example have an ‘Add irons’ button. Same fields as the individual club. One extra field or toggle boxes for ‘Set makeup’. I should have been able to add 5 - GW of all the same iron set in one go. Not 7.

I get having to do it individually with woods/putter maybe wedges.

I see where you are getting at with how does it work for tracking. Their system would have to separate each club out on its own tile on the backend once I enter a set. Then I would need to drag and drop each of those tiles over to the ‘My Bag’ section.

I assume it’s a system limitation with how their database is built because otherwise it’s a ‘no duh’ solution to this user interface problem.

that makes sense

I would think that having the performance data default to only active clubs would be where it's at right? I'm probably being short sighted on something, but I have to remember to flip to active only every time I go to data dive. If I wanted to compare to the old, I'd do a more comprehensive look and likely expand the data out a ways.

that makes sense
Cool. Glad it makes sense outside of my brain lol. I’m not trying to be a dick about it I just know ShotScope is one of those great brands that actually read THP for ideas and feedback. And on the very off chance this feedback hasn’t been received already I wanted to help make sure it was.

Got my new clubs added and ready to screw in tags when the haul arrives on Friday. Alls well that ends well.

I guess my perspective is how many clubs do you use during a year? I think the year filter default, or last 15 rounds, is more impactful than active, but that’s just me

I will send this over to some people. It is a good idea.

Yeah, instead of doing that desktop pop up for one club each time, do it once, toggle your set, and then it’s ready to drag and drop. Seems quicker by a bit.

The question is begs though, is as users would we want to save a couple minutes on the initial set-up? Or have software resources dedicated to further insights into the game. Whats the value of the software development time as end users? Given the set up is just once and not super complicated, I’d rather see the latter

Just wanted to talk up Shot Scope’s customer service a bit here: I emailed a request to add some new clubs that weee not yet listed at like 11pm last night, and I received an email back with them added to the system before 7am today! Unreal - great company to deal with!

Did that go away? Used to be able to add a complete set at once.

I'd like to have the one-time investment in the time for the software team to streamline the system. It's not like they would need to spend all of their time going forward providing this UI fix. Realistically it should be a relatively simple bit of programming so long as it's not a limitation of their database. Then they could get right back to developing the algorithms to give us the insights we all enjoy and have come to love from ShotScope.
