Shot Scope V5 Golf Watch Review

I love the data. It’s great. It makes my gripes worth having it, and I would recommend it to others.

My gripes have to do with:
(A) start up before the round. I almost always miss the first hole as the watch is locating GPS. I know - start it earlier. But no other GPS I have ever had was this slow to pick up the signal.
(B) editing. Every round requires more than a few edits. It can be up to 20 additional shots that need to be deleted. Lots of putts. Some regular clubs as I take small practice swings while waiting or walking up to a green. I know if I change my on course routines and not always have a club in my hand, it would not pick up those extra shots.

I am still going to use it. Not sure if I will just continue with the heavy edits or change my on course routines.

The V5 is equipment that I have taken for granted when it comes to reviewing. My bad. I use it every round. In the mountains there are a couple of holes I have to pay attention to and edit but for the most part haven't had any issues.

If I play early of the morning it seems to have more issues "locating" course. Thats it. Its a very solid device that doesn't have the yearly subscription. Needed the course mapping at my local course reversed. 1 is now 10. Took them no time to get back to me.

I charged the watch, played nine holes, and didn't touch it or play for over two weeks. Still had 20% battery when I plugged it in yesterday. I have been impressed with the battery life.

Really happy with the switch to V5 from X5 I made a couple months back. I much prefer physical buttons to the touch screen and for me not having vibration is a benefit and not a downgrade. I had a couple issues with the charge port and reading tags like I did on the X5, but have found cleaning the charge port and the sensors inside of the strap to help with that.

The V5 is definitely an example of how much Shot Scope listens to customers. It's pretty cool to have these options.

Kinda weird question, but do you guys take off the watch when applying bug spray or sunscreen spray? I feel like it has to be pretty rugged......i mean they must design it knowing people are gonna be sweating all over it, spraying all sort of chemicals that could seep into the open button cambers etc.....

I was wondering today as i didn't feel like taking it off and sprayed both all over myself

Yep - I can definitely make it through 2 18-hole rounds on one charge if needed. Love it

Yes, I take it off.

Bug spray is nasty stuff that can be murder on screens. I've seen too many examples from fishing boat sonar displays that got wrecked for me to mess around with it.

i figured this was the safe play!

Sunscreen

Bleu de Chanel Parfum (for the cart girls)

Didn’t want to connect to the tags. The data showed that it missed nearly a dozen shots. I deleted the data. Don’t have much to add

How long have you been using it? My first like 20 rounds i was missing probably 7-10 shots a round also. Just random stuff because i pull a wedge and play quick and it doesn't tag. It can be a bit of a pain to go manually do it

After using it for 40-50 rounds now, i've gotten used to tapping the watch with the tag before each swing. It's become part of my swing routine LOL

I've had it for at least 25 rounds or more. Its part of my routine as well. I had to fight with it today

I’ve gone through 4 or so X5 where this happened. After the most recent time it happened on the X5 instead of replacing the watch they sent me a new band kit. When it happened again on the V5, I knew how the connection points worked inside the band which gave me the idea to clean them. So I detached the bands and cleaned off the connection points and that seems to have fixed it.

The GPS is working, but it’s decided it doesn’t want to read tags anymore

Check to see if the band is making connection with the watch. When mine stopped reading tags its because the screw housing holding the band to the watch broke so it was not making proper connection.

The gps part works. It won’t tag clubs.

I understand. The GPS is baked into the watch. The tagging requires a constant connection between the band and watch. See if the band is loose perhaps by reseating it. Requires a screwdriver

I've checked it. Nothing working

I forgot to charge my V5 yesterday for my league match and once again I feel completely lost out there without it. Even though the carts have GPS its not the same. I was wearing my Apple watch instead and I kept looking at it as if it was my V5. Sadly all I got was the time.

PSA. Charge your V5 before your rounds!

Replacement v5 shipped! Excited to start collecting data again

Playing in our club "Ryder Cup" today and tomorrow. Foursomes and 4-ball today.

V5 did 36 holes with no issue (was at 67% after first round). My son's X5 was at 47%, and could possibly have made it... but we charged it in-between over lunch with a power brick.

Not risking the V5 it for tomorrow - currently recharging both back to 100% !

Love to see this type of data point for the battery life. Looking forward to using my V5 for 27 holes on the 1st day of the Morgan Cup in a few weeks - doesn’t sound like I need to worry about the battery at all.

Funny story, i didn't wear the watch in my last tournament....and before every swing i kept tapping the butt of the club to my bare wrist LOL.....i've gotten used to using it i guess!!!!

I'm not quite at where i want to use it in my big events just because i have enough to worry about ....but probably will next year
