Shot Scope V5 Golf Watch Review

Got my replacement v5 today. I thought it would just be a refurb watch alone, but it came with full retail packaging! So now I have extra tags and such which is awesome! Looking forward to gathering data and having wrist GPS again after a couple months without :D

Well we have a pattern of working one round as only a GPS and the next it tracks club data, then back to just being a GPS. No real help when I tried get it resolved. About to just relegate it to a GPS watch

Gotta remember to charge this baby up and bring the freakin charger with me for Victoria National!

This has been the most frustrating device I have ever owned for golf. It either doesn't locate the device well and makes me wait to tee off, or it doesn't pick up the tags. I have tried everything. Customer service needed a bill of sale that was almost 2 years old. I have no clue where I even bought it. I suspect it was Budget golf. Don't know.. I just know I'm done fighting with it. Its a shame because its fun and a great help when working

No problem going 27 holes with this at Victoria National during the Morgan Cup. I wanna say I still had like 40% left.

My X5 started acting up on me, culminating in only getting to use it properly for about half my time at Ballyhack.

A new V5 arrived and will eventually get put through its paces. I may end up using it as just a watch over the winter to keep a charge in it.

Did you have tracking or did it just show up?

You've had some definite issues, it sucks to hear. It hasn't been my experience with their hardware but it's too bad you seem to have gotten some bad devices that have ruined the experience.

I got tracking. If memory serves it was through USPS via DHL.

when it works its a lot of fun.... fighting with it on course is really taking away from the experience. I'd recommend it... but keep records of purchase and box and a spare copy of the Declaration of Independence (well maybe not for you but others)

Hopefully I'll get an email at some point.
Email em. They've been very responsive at least. Good luck sir

I keep fighting the good fight. Didn't work again today. Seems every other round

My X5 stopped recording tags 3 weeks ago. Worked with SS to try and fix, nothing worked including swapping out the watchband. They were out of X5’s and offered a refund or
V5 as replacement. I hope the V5 works. Really miss the round tracking. Customer service was great. I like the company, but not sure the hardware is good. My X5 was only 5 months old.

Good on them for taking care of you. V5 is a great device. I have had issues recently and only got asked for a 2 year old receipt.

I bought my devices from their website, so they have record of the purchase. otherwise I’dbe in the same boat as you trying to find a proof or purchase..

I used my V5 (replacement for broken X5) for the first time yesterday. It worked great. I think it picked up my round more accurately than the X5. After 18 holes only used 23% of the battery. Hope it continues to work this well.

Got the warranty replacement, but how do I switch to using the new sensors that came with it?

All sensors are the same. So a 5i sensor is a 5i sensor is a 5i sensor. You could leave your old ones in and have backups

Awesome, thank you. Already took out the old ones, so I guess they'll be the backups.

A couple of tips for V5 (and X5 users as well) that I have found useful. I started out using self-stick felt furniture pads on my tags, then switched to glass table-top bumpers. These prevent the tags from wearing from rubbing on the bottom of the bag. The table-top bumpers have the advantage of being almost see-through, but the self-stick furniture pads have better adhesive.

Another tip is something I do at least every two weeks, if not every week. It probably depends on how much you play (me every weekday). I check my tags for tightness and have found that sometimes they have loosened as much as a 1/2 turn. If not checked periodically, I suspect they could come loose enough to break off. I know some people have mentioned a lot of the tags snapping. Maybe this is the reason?

Have you found the tags rubbing on the bottom causes an issue? I don't play as much as you but never really considered that.

Yes, I had two of my original tags from the V3 show wear and stop being recognized. See the picture. Nothing since I added the felt pads or bumpers.

I'm not seeing any issues myself despite there being some wear on the tags - I do check as suggested for loosening every couple of weeks.

I think if I were to get new sensors then I might put the clear bumpers on there - I had a set from a used watch I bought loaded with the furniture pads and I took them off as I use the tag to identify the club at the range when they are set up on the edge head down / tag up.
