Shot Scope V5 Golf Watch Review

Finally up and running, but no clue what to do on the auto putting screen.

Usually this means you walk up to the hole and click pin collect. Or hopefully pick your ball up out of it haha. Afterwards during editing you can make sure you have the correct number of putts

Assuming hit the back button to mark the pin, then put in putts?

The back button takes you to more putting options (like 0 putts)

As @jdtox said, try to stand around where your last putt was made from and just enter the number of putts. It's usually pretty good but you can always adjust on the dashboard

Click however many putts you had when you are standing at the hole location. It marks the number of putts and the pin location. Sorry It's been a minute since I used auto putting.

Got it, I'm going back to manual lol.

In a perfect world you just putt your putts and the sensor registers where you were on the green. Then you click the number of putts you took while standing at the hole when done.

That would be a perfect world! I do understand why it's so challenging though to get the putting perfect. You're talking about a GPS chip focusing in on a very small area trying to get it down to like a 2-3 foot radius and also understanding when you are putting versus a practice stroke, an aimpoint dance etc....

It's a hard thing to do electronically

As much shade as I've thrown these watches, it worked exactly like it's supposed to today. Made it through the round with just a 32% charge too.

Happy things are looking up for you after so many issues!

Jen and Gavin use auto if I recall, fwiw.

That said, I also use manual but it’s because my putter sticky tab wasn’t sticky anymore.

Apparently I've become my mother since I was using the X5. Remembering how to do everything has been far too difficult. This is 100% a me issue, nothing to do with the watch. 🤦‍♂️

For those following along, auto putt actually worked really well on the 3 greens I remembered to mark the pin.

I'm a big fan of auto-putt here.

I think I'm going to be also. With the X5, I couldn't get a senson in the putter grip I was using, and didn't want to mess with sticking one on, so just used manual. Just having a hard time getting back into the routine of tapping sensors off the watch pre-shot, marking pins, etc., but when I remember I think the auto is going to work pretty well.

I just used a small cut-out of 3M VHB and a no thread sensor from the additional putter pack. Worked perfectly, never had an issue with it coming off. Current putter is OK for a threaded sensor so I'm back to that.

I'm going to check putting location on the edit anyway to get as accurate putting stats as possible - but auto-putt + pin confirm gives me the best starting point. I'm going to forget at some point in an 18-hole round if I use manual.

I’m pretty convinced both methods are really solid, it’s just what will best become engrained

Having issues with the lower left button.
It doesn't always respond to a press unless I am quite forceful.
Otherwise battery and function has been great.
Any idea on a fix?

I have exactly the same issue and we are not alone, plenty of others reporting the same issue across Facebook and Reddit.

You could try cleaning it to see if there is any gunk preventing the button to depress and come back out again but if like me that doesn't resolve it then assuming you are still in warranty get straight onto customer service and they will likely replace it.

Unfortunately I got mine used and warranty doesn't transfer so I'm stuck with mine - fingers crossed it holds out until Spring and hopefully a replacement model for me to buy new.

@Bus Just to clarify, in Auto putting mode you indicate the number of times you used the putter, not just official putts taken from on the green. The putter used from off the green gets put into your short game stats. Due to GPS inaccuracy, during editing you may have to adjust where the use took place if you were on the collar or just on the green, The watch could interpret the location either way.

This was a warranty replacement for my Touchscreen model that glitched so no idea if I get a full year with it.
Any idea on how to clean the button?

I have a spray that clean electrical contacts (used to use it a lot on my DSLR camera mount and lens mount and now it just kicks around waiting for something like this). I'm not sure if a WD-40 or the US equivalent if that isn't a thing might work. A quick squirt of that, some rapid depresses to move it into the workings and then a cotton bud to clean it up would be my route.

That said I'm definitely not in warranty so it matters not what I'm doing as it is all on me. I'd check your warranty position first before spraying anything on/into the watch.....

I find the top right button for me sometimes requires a firmer push and holding it down a bit. Not too much of an issue but i've had a few cases where i press it and no reaction. I think in general this watch is not as touch sensitive and the buttons do need to really be pushed
