Shot Scope V5 Golf Watch Review

I find the top right button for me sometimes requires a firmer push and holding it down a bit. Not too much of an issue but i've had a few cases where i press it and no reaction. I think in general this watch is not as touch sensitive and the buttons do need to really be pushed
The bottom left I have to push insanely hard. I think something internally gets stuck and it doesn't make the proper contact.

Just ordered a V5. Gonna be a fun and humbling experience

Oh the connex is just too much effort for me. I might have to bite the bullet and try the V5

Worth it if you like numbers. Will likely have to clean up a few shots post round but I enjoy that ritual.

Better than cleaning up/forgetting a few shots per holes I’d guess. :ROFLMAO:

First round review with my V5

Overall, very impressive product, but I definitely need a bit more time with certain nuances of the device (more on the below).

After joining THP in April, I’ve seen a ton of talk on Shot Scope, but never really gave it a consideration as I’d be using Arccos for a couple seasons. However, after getting another renewal notice, I decided to make the leap to SS. And for me, I prefer to not have my phone on me (biggest knock on Arrcos besides the insane monthly cost), I wanted a watch to track my round progress.

The maiden round was at Bear’s Best in North Atlanta - a fun and well maintained track modeled after some of Jacks favorite holes. Anyways, the V5 performed admirably, giving me very accurate measurements (as compared to my laser) and was very easy to keep track of my round (without being too busy).

The only thing I need to work on is putts - I got to a couple greens and could not get the putt tracking screen to pop up immediately. This lead me to input putts (and flag position) not perfectly, but it’s something just need to be more cognizant going forward.

I’m going to hold on diving into my data until I have a better sample, but overall, I’m really happy with the purchase so far.

Huge props to @Gavin - Shot Scope for the heads up on the Black Friday sale!

This is interesting.....from the beginning of when i got the watch--the putt tracker always popped up whenever i walked on the green

So when i'd walk on the green, my watch would immediately have the screen that showed "1-4 putts" and i'd just select whichever it was when i walked off the green, mostly i would try to select "2 putts" standing next to where i made my final putt. This seemed to work OK

I'm just wondering if this how your watch defaults? Honestly curious because this is how mine did

Great question - it eventually would pop up, but needed a bit of time to adjust to location. My guess is there was something goofy with the GPS - it had a hard time locating during round setup.

OK cool, i wasn't sure how the watch defaulted, i think there are a couple of options for how to do putting. Mine was always the way i described....where basically as soon as you walk on the green it just prompts you to say how many putts, and then auto-reads based on GPS where it "thinks" you made them from

This always was good enough for me, and i adjusted after the round on the dashboard any outliers, but i'm not sure if this was the standard method

Good deal - should be able to get back out on the course in a week or so to test again.

putting is pretty stressful and it feels like it missed my sandwedge around the green more often than not.

part of it with the putting is a few of my greens aren't remapped anywhere close to correct yet, so it doesn't pop up with the putting screen and I can't figure out how to manually pull up that screen.

Are you doing Automatic or Manual for putting?

I think I have only ever done Manual (not using the sensor). It isn't perfect, but if it misses a putt it is 100% on me just walking off a green without actually enterring it.

Auto - I’m guessing it was GPS related.

Really excited to take this out to the Grandaddy and try it at the Hideaway. I am not going to get too far into data collection or anything as I don’t want it to be a distraction, but I want to see what the interface is like, etc.

There's literally no way you're gonna use it in your rounds LOL......I'm just saying.....

Youre gonna be having the time of your life, posting to the forum , grinding in your match, etc....There's no way you're gonna remember to input putts , tap the watch etc. If you are a new user

BTW---not knocking the product, i love it! But heck i forgot to use it half the time at the Data Experience, lol. It has to become a routine, and then it is easy. But at first, it's hard.

My first couple of tournaments of 2025, i didn't even bring it. By the end of the year, tapping the watch and inputting stuff was second nature. It's a wonderful product, but it takes a bit of time to become routine, especially in high pressure environments

I was thinking the same thing - probably not the best place for its maiden voyage. Maybe hold until the new season @LeftyGolferWI ?

If it's the maiden voyage of the V5 i can pretty much guarantee he'll get no good data, and by the 8th hole he'll have a few error messages, putts he forgot to input, and likely just turn the watch off.

And i say this as someone who loves the product. It just takes a little bit to get accustomed to the routine.

Well okie dokie. No reason to slow myself down or get frustrated with it!

If you want to try by all means!!! I'm not trying to be a downer, just my experience, and again i do really like the product. It just takes some time to get into the routine and you'll have a lot going on

Yeah I don’t want to feel occupied trying to figure something out on the fly that’s for sure!

I think thats wise - soak it all in and don't worry about keeping track of it.

Round #2 with the Shot Scope V5 - much better experience today vs my first round a couple weeks ago.

Overall, I was able to easily keep track of putts / scores on each hole and I'm really loving the data I'm seeing in the app. Will be patient on not diving deep YET, but its pretty obvious where my game needs the most work currently - see below, this is a comp against a 10 hdcp:

As far as comfort & fit - my only gripe at this point is the strap. It seems I'm in between a couple "holes" on the band, so its a bit lose on my wrist. Not a huge issue, but it is something to consider. And on battery, I still have 65% juice left after 18, which is pretty great all things considered.

Glad you’re settling in with it! I love mine

I know this question has come up a few times - looks like it’s been addressed!
