Shot Scope X5 Watch

So, would you guys advise manual putting or auto? And any link which actually explains the difference.

Also, does the watch need to connect to the app when you are actually playing or only later when you want to upload your round?
I manually add the putts and mark the pin location as I was seeing missed putts when it did it auto.

What's the point of marking the pin location?
I think it goes to putting stats if you are using auto for putts (knows the pin location / putt distance)

Am I having a brain fart. Could have sworn
You could get a preview of the hole. If so how do you find it in the menu ?

Lol every once in a while a couple of deletes and it's all good. Now if this was correct what a wild hole.
In a year and a half, that's the first time
I've seen that with the X5 🤣

Not sure what happened yesterday 🤣View attachment 9300049

Can’t get mine to charge anymore. Going to have to reach out to customer service. Gonna charge the v3 for tomorrow round

My X5 also stopped charging, cleaned out the port with a needle to get any dust or gunk out but still is not working. It is also very laggy. I hard reset it 3 times but it didn't work, the same problems remain. This is my 2nd X5 as I had to send my first one back for replacement about 8-10 months ago for similar issues. I still have the V3 which works perfectly and is about 3 years old. Frustrating that the X5 is having issues again.

Mine has been lagging recently too. It seems like it takes several tries for the gps to find the satellites and takes 5-10 minutes a pop before it finally catches on. Sometimes we're already a couple holes in before I get set up for the course we're playing.

ShotScope agreed to send me a new watch band for my V5 however since I was waiting for the the V5 straps to come in, I dig out my X5 watch and used it for a couple of rounds now. I kinda like it and the drop shots issues has minimized. I'm finding myself "Relearning" the X5.

I do have one concern about X5, I have to turn it upside down on its crown to get it to charge, the charging cord doesn't "Snap" in to place, It's the same cord that I used for the V5 and it always "Snapped" into place. @Phil75070 - Any thoughts on this?

Unfortunately it looks like the tracking is going again on my X5. If confirmed this will be the third time it’s happened. I can’t think of anything I’m doing that would be causing the tracking to go bad.

It does seem like it "loosens" over time and doesn't require as much pressure to connect the charging cable. However, I play every weekday for the most part, weather permitting, and charge my X5 after every round. The charging cord still somewhat "snaps" in place.

Working with Shotscope customer support at the moment, the device is taking a charge but just not registering it properly, sometimes it will say 0% charge, then 30%, then 100% etc.
The main issue is the lag and the large button doesn't allow scrolling anymore, it works when I press it but not when I twist it. If I use the touchscreen to scroll it takes a few seconds to react to my command to move up and down through the menu and sometimes doesn't react at all.
I have reset to factory settings twice and re-downloaded the firmware but it hasn't fixed the issues.

I ran into my first real issue with this watch yesterday. I started to set the round up while on the putting green and it never synced up with the GPS. I tried several times, but I was on the first tee and said screw it. I really wanted to use it because I wanted to add more data to my profile but couldn't.

Mid round I powered the watch off and back on which seemed to do the trick. GPS synced up almost immediately, but I was deep into the round to use it.

Many of the bugs that I was experiencing earlier on seem to have resolved themselves. The battery is easily getting me through the round. Although there are some, there are not an unacceptable number of phantom shots recorded. The watch seems to sync with my phone much better than it used to.

My one last gripe is the putting feature. I use the manual putting and it would seem like it would therefore plot the putts much more accurately than it does. Other than recording number of putts, it is a pretty useless tool for gauging how well you are putting, at least for me. If this one feature could be improved, I would be in total love with the technology.

Yeah, played 9 yesterday and manually recorded every putt and hole location. Checked my stats on the dashboard and my longest putt was 2 feet. Total putts 2 feet.

I think it's just GPS doing GPS-like things. Sometimes it will have trouble getting a GPS signal depending on where you are in relation to satellites, what is obstructing the angle to them (trees, buildings, etc.), and environmental factors like cloud cover. I think we are accustomed to GPS always and immediately working on our phones, when in reality our phones' location services also utilize other methods to pin-point our location (cell tower data, wifi network signals). If you remember the days of standalone GPS systems in cars, they weren't nearly as fast or reliable as our phones are today, and GPS-enabled golf devices are using the same basic technology as those 20+ year old devices.

Shot scope CS told me how to get my X5 fixed with the charging issue I was having and it worked flawlessly when I played this week.

I get all that but my issue was a clear day standing on the putting green with no obstructions. A reset worked but just annoying

Shot Scope sent me a new band which seems to have fixed the issue. Still a little confused why it would have happened so many times
