Where did you go to College

Some amazing stories in here, what a diverse group we have!

Gettysburg College
I was going to guess that. I love Gettysburg. I have visited the battlegrounds several times with my daughter. It is incredible how vast it is, and when you are there looking at the monuments, and the battlefields you get chills. My daughter too has been inspired by her love of history, and she is the reason we have gone so many times. Part of what led her to choose West Point had to do with American History and her experiences in Gettysburg really fueled that.

I admire the selection of West Point. I’ve been there numerous times including 4 stays at the Hotel Thayer on campus.

THe place is rich in History. I am in awe every time I step on Post.

I competed in a karate tournament in the field house at West Point in the late '80s. We got a tour of the grounds and I was in total awe of it, so much history and tradition.

What kind of thing (in general terms if you can't be specific) are you getting a patent on?

a web based job scheduling platform for gig economy workers.

I’m a huge fan of Law and Order, specifically the original.

I went down this rabbit hole for a bit on Christmas. That’s the one cop/lawyer show I can enjoy. The scientist gets mad at the ridiculousness of anything CSI.

I have played two chess world champions - male (Kasparov at the time, 2001 in Antwerp) and female (Kosteniuk at the time, 2007 in Amsterdam) - and managed to score half a point. I have played at the US national open chess championship in Las Vegas, at the Riviera hotel and casino (it no longer exists).

THe world Kick Boxing champ Kevin Rosier was the guest referee in the final bout. In the final my headgear came loose up over my eyes and while he was trying to seperate me and Big Chief, Big Chief kept hitting me in the back of the head, even after the bell rang for the first round, so I threw off a glove body locked him and front suplexed him and ended up breaking his ribs. When he came out his corner for round 2 my corner man told me to hit him in the side and one punch and down he went.

So after that Rosier approached me and asked me to train with him since I was a wrestler (both of us were living in Buffalo) and he was getting his ass kicked by wrestlers when he was doing mixed martial arts. So I got to go to UFC 3 with him and even got into an unofficial alternate bout because so many guys in the main event kept getting hurt and couldn't continue. Kieth Hackney broke his hand (on Emanuel) and Ken Shamrock also was coming off an injury and two alternates were already used so they were trying to line other guys up in case more guys got hurt. Never got into the main event, but met Emanuel and he got me into Sumo.
This is freaking incredible!

Wow! Honestly, Chess is a game that’s always intimidated me to learn, but I love watching people who are good at it play.

I'm obsessed with crime shows of any kind and at one point in my life I was very close to becoming a police officer.

Season ticket holder to the Pantages here in LA. In the Heights, Hamilton, Rent, Wicked and Phantom are the shows I've multiple times each. Actually met Lin-Manuel Miranda at a showing of Mean Girls before Hamilton had come out. He was sitting just a few rows down from me so I just introduced myself and told him In the Heights was one of my top shows of all time during intermission, then left him alone, he was friendly and not as well known yet.

That’s sweet! Love Pantages. Used to live in Palm Springs early 2000’s and was Lion King there. Was awesome. Wife and I purchased season tickets at the Orpheum Theatre last year and with COVID going on not sure what the status is for the upcoming year yet.

My last 11 years in the Air Force were as a Health Professions recruiter.

People were afraid of talking to Docs, Nurses and Dentists, but I loved it. They never wasted my time like hs kids.

Also, most people knew nothing about Health Professions so they never bothered us. Make your numbers and golf a lot ;)

I almost got paid to play football (soccer) in 2 countries. In New Zealand i was one division below getting paid but only played one season.

Almost signed for a non-league semi-pro team in England but had to get a job.

This may be personal for some, but others might find it fun. Give us something about you, that is away from golf that people may find interesting, strange, different, etc.

Me: I love Food TV. I can watch any kind of it from America's Test Kitchen on PBS to the restaurant shows that showcase places around the country. I can watch hours of it without blinking an eye.
Im fluent in German and Japanese.

Just don't ever get them mixed up. The Germans will be offended and the Japanese will complain you are slowing down consensus building.

I will add another little something to this thread - I have signed the Official Secrets act so there will always be things that I can't talk about

What’s that?

What’s that?
It is a law here in the UK that prevents people from disclosing sensitive information

People working with sensitive information are commonly required to sign a statement to the effect that they agree to abide by the restrictions of the Official Secrets Act. This is popularly referred to as "signing the Official Secrets Act". Signing this has no effect on which actions are legal, as the act is a law, not a contract, and individuals are bound by it whether or not they have signed the act. Signing it is intended more as a reminder to the person that they are under such obligations. To this end, it is common to sign this statement both before and after a period of employment that involves access to information classified as 'secret' (e.g. MI5/MI6).

I’ve made some

nice! I would tell everyone I can’t tell them things
The best response is 'I could tell you, but then I would have to kill you' :ROFLMAO:

I mean, I would abuse it. Nothing is too small when you are petty like me. “Did you eat pizza for lunch?” “I can’t tell you - state secrets”

I have been tempted many times

On top of that, I have also been through both general Security vetting and Counter Terrorism Clearance vetting to be allowed to access certain facilities during a previous job as well

I am in awe. If I play an 1100 it is game over before it starts. If placed in front of either of these two people I'd scatter the pieces on the ground and run.
