Srixon ZXi Irons – ZXi4, ZXi5 and ZXi7

Yesterday's round further cements my happiness in my return to the Srixon iron lineup. I have played the 565s and 785s in the past. The rough is high at my club and it was soaked from all the rain we received over the week. No issues for me with my ZXi5s and the V-Sole, I was able to get through the rough with no issues. I have been extremely happy on how well these irons have performed for me ever since I returned from The Srixon Experience. I am becoming more confident and successful with my iron game. Of course I will have rounds that are subpar but thats due to my mental lapses of not putting a good swing on the club. These irons are just flat out performing for me and look forward to playing some really good golf as the season progresses. I have been playing so well that I am thinking of picking up ZXi7s in the scoring irons. Probably just a pipe dream so I will continue with the ZXi5s without a doubt.
You’d be fine with the 7s. Probably all the way up to a 6 or 7i. But if you’re happy with the 5s and not finding hotspots on them, they’re significantly more forgiving. That said, the 7s are not blades. They have a fair bit of forgiveness.

Here is my impact record from a ~20 ball set today, this is 8i. This is about a half dollar sized impact zone and none of these shots were going to put me in any trouble. Most if not all would’ve been GIRs. I wouldn’t have gotten away with those impacts out toward the toe with my 221s.

Wooooooooow that's going to be spicy.

Why the 2?
Just loft progression. I'll likely only use it off the tee. I'm doing way better with the 3 wood than I ever expected. I have a few shots to certain numbers with it. And 2 looks cooler than 3. (I stumbled upon the Hy-wood also when bouncing through the website)

I like the 2U but it alternates in and out of the bag with my 5w. Lately the 5w has been delivering some epic approach shots, so it’s had some staying power even into the summer season when I’d usually start to rotate a 2i into the bag.

Pondering a more forgiving iron and I’m curious if anything’s changed in 7 years. I’ve lost 150 lbs. and I’m more flexible. I don’t play or practice enough for my I210’s I don’t think. I tried the 585/785 combo when I got my Pings and liked them. Looking back, that was probably a better fit but the fitter kept trying to put me in a 100 gram shaft. The Mizuno rep when I tried JPX forged said S300 hard stepped or X100 soft. I ended up in the Pings because that’s what I wanted and the PX LZ 6.0 no tipping. I don’t do well but “fast” or hot type irons.

Approach play was todays weakness. I expect that changes later in the week when these arrive.

I’ve been researching and it doesn’t appear there’s a better fit for me than some sort of combo Srixon set. I’m headed to Austads today to compare the size of them in comparison to my I210’s.

I looked at some irons at Austad’s. I may rule out the 7 series until 8 iron, if at all. They didn’t seem more confidence inspiring than the Ping I series. I didn’t mind the look of the Callaway Apex 200, Mizuno HM & JPX 925,:Titleist T200 and T350. The Srixons look the best to me. If I had to do it without hitting them, I’d go ZX4 5, ZX5 6-8, ZX7 9-AW. All ZX5 seems like a great option as well. I’m not confident with my Pings until I get to 8 iron.

I scheduled an iron fitting this Sunday. Srixon/Cleveland is at Austad’s this week so maybe it’s meant to be. Leaning ZXI-5 5 or 6-AW but some sort of combo intrigues me. I also like chipping with PW and UW/AW and find it easier with a smaller head. The 9-UW I play now I like.

Second day out today with the zxi7’s. So happy to be back with Srixon. They just feel like home.

Fast turnaround. From order to door in 6 days IMG_5954.jpeg

The ZXi7 AW is really nice. Some 30 yard pitch shots feel very nice.

Love the ferrules!

Irons really shined today at Bethpage Black and I needed them too!! I hit a sweet 4 iron into the 16th green that held and gave me a good look at a birdie putt. I hit a nice 9 iron on a par 3 I believe the 6th hole within 5 feet for a birdie opportunity in which I cashed it in. The confidence level with these irons is by far the highest I’ve had in a long time. As long as I put a good swing on it these irons make the ball go on my intended line with ease. Flushing a Srixon ZXi5 iron feels so good. I’m anxiously waiting for better consistent weather so I can practice and play more with my irons.

Tomorrow will be range or first course action. I did hit a couple of balls with the ZXi7 8 iron today and it is so easy to get through the grass. I’m surprised by how little effort it needed

I can attest - @Deebo76 hit some great shots yesterday. The kick in birdie, and hitting the green with a 4i, were fantastic shots that stood out, but his iron play was steady all day.

Hit the ZXI 5's today. Honestly couldn't tell much difference from my ZX5 MK II's. Am I missing something here?

Only that both models are spoken highly of?

I am genuinely excited for my 4 iron to show up

I would actually be very surprised if you found much of any difference from the MKII zx5. There’s many people that would be up in arms if they make major changes from model to model on these irons. I think it’s a good thing that theres not much difference.

define "much"

I'm really finding my numbers well with these. The switch to the PX LS was a great decision, and has really allowed me to have a deeper connection to the ZXi7 heads and actually, even the ZXi4 iron has elevated results because of it.

It's really nice to have ShotScope to validate some of these numbers, but man when I flush these, especially in a neutral or favorable wind, they are special.

The 7 feels so good! I have to say I was surprised
