No such thing...I thought they were just another GI iron.
I've had my ZXiR HL's 5 days now (5i - AW) and have hit them twice at a dome (Toptracer) and once with a simulator. Michigan weather is still too cold but will warm up shortly. Descent angles have all been in the 41° - 48°, even with a well struck 5 iron. I'm using their KBS MAX graphite 55 R flex (high launch) shafts which certainly help. They feel great too, I-Alloy is softer that 431 steel. My swing speed with a driver is about 82-85 mph for reference. At 75 years I and can say these have restored my excitement for iron play.
I love seeing posts like this. Srixon really did some good things with this release.I've tried lots of different irons out on the range over the past 2 years and these ZXiR HL are
easily the best for my game.
I am only at 75mph and these have given me more speed. distance and height
than any of the ones below (for me).
Plus they feel great
I put Zelos 8 stiff shafts in them and the combination is magic
These are some of the ones I have tested
Wilson CB
Ping i240
TM P790

Cobra DS Adapt Max
Ping G440
Ping G730
Srixon ZXi5
Cobra Aerojet

As I've dug into it a little more I'm finding that out.No such thing...
I've been trying to talk my buddy into getting a set as well. He's 64 and he's still using his Ping K15 irons and woods. I keep telling him he could get so much of his game back if he upgraded. My buddy has been using my ZXiR HLs on the course for shots here and there over our last few rounds. He ordered a set today, I think they're going to be great irons for him.
It’ll be interesting if the there’s a broader movement away from the “loft jacking” wars in the GI/SGI space.I love seeing posts like this. Srixon really did some good things with this release.
I think we've already seen it tbh. As far as I remember, every major brand has an HL option. Some lean into it from the "height and lack of speed" angle, but others are talking more about consistency. You're always going to have distance irons, because there will always be people that want that and have the spin to handle it.It’ll be interesting if the there’s a broader movement away from the “loft jacking” wars in the GI/SGI space.
Cant agree with this! THe "HL" movement has been awesome. I think you will see more to come as far as marketing goes but maybe a small trend leaning back to high loftsI think we've already seen it tbh. It's hard for me to speak to consistency at this point because a) I don't really have my yardages/gapping dialed in yet, and b) consistency in ballstriking is not exactly a 'feature' of my iron game - but I can definitely say that I haven't seen any surprise flyers that went 10 yards further than I expected them to when I "accidentally" hit the sweet spot.I think we've already seen it tbh. I'm counting down the days. Just a little over a month out now. Can't wait until the Srixon Experience guys get these clubs in hand and we start hearing more about them. The feel of hitting them is pretty addictive, and the turf interaction with the Tour V.T. sole is really nice. So good the way it gets through the turf.
I think we got a darn good squad going to this thing too...we'll try our best to review these things from all the angles. Were the Zelos 8 available to you directly from Srixon? I am in Canada and the closest they had was the 750GH Neo.I've tried lots of different irons out on the range over the past 2 years and these ZXiR HL are
easily the best for my game.

Not gaming them but they tested well. I would probably go 2 weak if I was going to game them.Is anyone gaming the ZXiRs?
Thanks. I should be testing them in the next week or two. I've had some issues with similar style irons being rocket launchers with bad descent angles and no stopping powerNot gaming them but they tested well. I would probably go 2 weak if I was going to game them.
Srixon did not have the shaft I wanted unfortunately.
Try the HLs, I can just about 100% guarantee you won't have those problems.Thanks. I should be testing them in the next week or two. I've had some issues with similar style irons being rocket launchers with bad descent angles and no stopping power
I'm sure. They're spec'd .5* weaker than my current irons which I can already get moonshots with.Try the HLs, I can just about 100% guarantee you won't have those problems.
Im in same boat. Buddy and I and wives stayed in H Head for a week. He and I played twice. He's still playing Ping Eye 2s. No big deal years ago when he played 10 times a year, but retired he's playing twice a week.I've been trying to talk my buddy into getting a set as well. Wow, the Rs look huge compared to 5s. Although playing the 5s, they are definitely not a large club. The ZXiR is thick compared to the ZXi5. The trail side chamfer on the 5 does a good job of optically hiding how thick the club is. The R doesn't have that.

Blade length between the two looks very similar, with the R being a little longer. It has a more rounded end to give it that little extra.
