That is really cool. I live about 1 1/2 miles from the course, I would have loved to have been there. Maybe I am meant to travel to a THP event!
Coming up during that week and playing some golf. We only have tix for the Thursday round though.
Where do you plan on playing? I am sure the courses will be getting a lot of activity that week.
I don't think our golf plans are finalized yet. Coming up there is a 'road game' for me so my SIL and his dad usually make those arrangements. From past experience I think we'll likely stay over in IL to play. Probably some combo of Annbriar, Gateway National, Stonewolf, Cardinal Creek, Far Oaks, Oak Brook, or Fox Creek. As 'fun' as August in STL can be, Mother Nature might play a role in how much we play too? Although Father's Day weekend in SGF/Branson was HOT and MUGGY and we all survived the 5 courses in 3 days I had set up for us. If something happens including THPers during that PGA week I'd be up for crashing the party. I'll also update here if we have anything scheduled with openings. ALWAYS enjoy golfing with THPers.
One of my golf buddies wants to take a trip to Annbriar in Waterloo . Is it worth the almost 2 hr trip up for me. Nice course?

Btw Hacker, I will get a round in with you sometime this summer if that’s agreeable with you man.
Kind of crazy to think that THPers played the course just a couple of months ago, at Shaft Up...FOR FREE including travel.
Working in the merch tent, so when I’m not working I’ll be there. How many of you guys are attending the PGA Championship? I have Saturday and Sunday tickets and didn’t know if THP would have a get together or anything.
My boss is a member there, and even he's not playing there right now. (He went over and played Gateway last week.) That was a very cool event, JB. Fun to follow, even from just across town.
Funny you say that. We have guys at the MAC that are members over at Bellreive that just joined Glen Echo through our MAC deal because they are so sick of the PGA championship restrictions.
I don't know a single member that has been happy about hosting the Championship since it has been such a disruptor for the last 2 years. I can completely understand paying those monthly dues and not being able to play the course or when they do, being on temporary greens.
Yeah, that was exactly his beef. Said he hates the temporary setup. I can see his point. He pays a lot of money to be a member there. On the bright side, though, it's forcing him to get out and play some other courses for a change.
Just a question, but do you think Warson gained a few members because of the PGA?
My father in-law and I are driving from Fort Worth to St Louis for the PGA Championship this year. Wanted to see what course recommendations ya'll had since we want to stop and play some golf on the way. Halfway point is around Joplin kinda so maybe something close to that. Somewhere nice that won't break the bank.

If you do the SGF Branson thing instead Hunter's advice is SOLID. Buffalo Ridge is pricey (@$130) but it's a course you'll remember. It's also about 50 minutes off I44 if that's an issue. Branson Hills is a about 15 mins closer and a h3ll of a challenge and is still about $100, Ledgestone is about the same cost and detour time but not up to the level of either Buffalo Ridge or Branson Hills IMO. Rivercut in SGF is closer, 20-25 mins off I44 and just $45 with GPS cart during the week, no tax. It's a real nice Ken Dye design that was named the #1 Municipal in Missouri a few years back. It's the course I play most often on my membership. Even though I44 cuts right over Deer Lake coming into SGF (there's a tunnel under the interstate to play half the back nine) and it's cheap, I don't like it. Always crowded and in poor condition. If you just want cheap golf right off I44 in SGF I'd say do Bill & Payne Stewart instead. It's nothing spectacular but it is a Perry Maxwell design and the greens are always in great shape. Just $34 includes GPS cart, and no tax.Springfield and especially the Branson area have some real nice courses. River cut in Springfield is nice. In Branson, Buffalo Ridge and Branson Hills are fantastic. River cut would definitely be the cheapest of the lot.
