I have wanted to do this. Convince me. Why should I and what is the best?

I’m here because I also need convincing. I’ve looked at doing it before but lost motivation. I was leaning towards Grint back then, but may grab something like Arccos or ShotScope this time around.

Shot Scope, because they are best imho, not even counting the bonus points they get for being a THP partner.

As to why? I would answer that with a question back at you. What are your goals?

I firmly believe the stat tracking works best when the user has their why. For most, it’s isolating their skills to maximize the time they have in order to get better at the game. For others, the drive to improve might not be there, but the added data into how a round went provides additional value to this hobby we all enjoy.

For me? At times my why has been to get better. At times my why has been I enjoy the insight into the rounds. And at times my why has been comparing club performance.

So as to why? I’d say it depends on your goal.

it’s simple to me. Learn what you need to work on, and become better because of it.

It’s an inexpensive way (unless you pay a subscription) to confirm or learn where you are gaining and losing strokes.

And Shot Scope and it’s not close

Shotscope is the best I think and them being a THP sponser only increases that opinion. The biggest thing it helped me with was a huge ego check when I realized I didn’t hit the ball near as far as I thought I did. Learning the correct distances on my clubs was a huge help to my game.

It can kinda be a pain at times. You have to determine if the extra effort is worth it. Wasn't for me personally

What shot scope product?

What shot scope product?
depends what somebody wants.
I prefer the V5, and just make a conscious effort to get the club close so it registers and I don’t have any problems.

I just bought the connex sensors for $39.99. Seemed too easy to not get back into proper shat tracking.

Tried those. Dealing with my phone and an app was super annoying.

Oic.

I did it for years with Arccos.

I have an H4. It was equal or more so. But neither annoyed me.

I’ve tracked manually with decade but BY FAR the easiest is wearing a shot scope watch and using the tags…you literally don’t have to think about it all during the round and post round takes like 5 minutes and that’s with me doing manual putting

Also the shot scope watch is so light weight I don’t even feel it or notice it during the round

Honestly homes.....i think it makes sense to do it.

Take me for example, i am a pretty good golfer and know a lot about my game. Even still---being with Shotscope, i learned things i didnt necessarily know for sure, or at the very least confirmed things i was kinda on the trail of but not 100% sure

Prior this this year maybe i thought my long game could be better. But i truly didnt know how bad i was from 180+ yards until i saw my data. I am worse than a scratch player from these distances, despite being as good as a pro from 160 and in. Why is this? Because i can't hit the ball high enough....seeing my data this year was like being beaten over the head....but in a good way

I also learned my fairways hit was 53% , much lower than i thought it would be. Which means i need to either hit it further or hit more fairways. I have made major changes to address this

If you have never looked at your REAL data---i think you are missing out

Naturally, i would recommend Shotscope. Because they are real G's.....but overall, data is good

I love Shot Scope for so many reasons, but one that I don't see mentioned often is the lack of a subscription. Just a one time purchase, and you are good to go. As far as I'm aware, they are the only ones that don't require some form of subscription to get full access to their products.

The data representation one you have enough rounds is also the best in the business. IMO. It’s amazing they don’t charge for it.

It's pretty humbling when you first see where your game really is, but in the best way.

It's not always bad though. You also learn that you might be better than you thought in some areas. I would not have said my short game was this good last year, but data tells me it's actually darn near pro level. I always thought i was subpar because i lack certain shots, i can't flop etc.....but what i learned was, you give me a stock chip where i can 2-hop one ....i'm basically as good as anyone out there.

Funny story, i qualified for an event earlier this year in a "chip off" that required this type of shot. I walked up to it like Kenny Powers because i knew this was my thing. I'mnot sure i would've told you this like 2 years ago

The sheer amount of data can be a bit much at first. The only issue I've found is at certain spots on my course the signal isn't very good so i may have to edit putting but overall it's really good.

That was my only complaint with the H4. But was counter intuitive. What I found was when I played courses way with nothing but wide open spaces… it had the most trouble.

I’m hoping using my phone it will be better.

My short game at one point wasn't bad. It has taken somewhat of a back seat and I'm starting to see the consequences of that.
I need to get better about accurately editing my rounds so my stats are spot on but lately I've just been getting the post round edits close ish and calling it good.

What shot scope device are you using?

Weird double self quote.

This is the biggest reason why I do it. Reviewing a round or a season and looking for positives in an otherwise uh... less than stellar game. Some areas can be surprisingly good.

Convince me. Why should I and what is the best?
Shot tracking is kind of cool to me but obviously, everyone is different. I don't know that it will ever help me improve or help me make drastically better strategy choices. But it does confirm - or in some case disprove - what I think is going on.

I've been tracking shots since 2016 when I was using GameGolf. Shot Scope has been much, much better. I've never used Arccos but it is probably pretty good as well.

I'm currently using the H4 and would consider changing to a V5 watch
