Talk to me about high blood pressure.

At 145/80 I’d make some lifestyle changes before I started throwing meds at it, but that’s modern medicine for you.

I am not taking medication - most of my life it's been 120/80, lately it's been 135/90. Stress from work, etc.

I am exercising more - I may do a heavy HIT one day a week, then moderation. I have every Concept 2 machine collected one every two years in my garage. Weights are great as you get older - the machines make it easier.

I also do deep breathing in the morning - time to do it right now - 6 am -- long, slow deep breaths -5 seconds in, hold a eecond, breathe out in 5-6 seconds. Meditative breathing - the average person breathes slightly 18 times a minute. Get it down to 6 in and outs a minute during this what I call meditative breathing.

Diet is big.

This is what they gave me:

LOSARTAN POTASSIUM

and I’m still anxiously looking at the bottle.

🫤
It is normal to feel a little light headed when first taking Losartan, so take it easy for a few weeks (avoid ladders etc if possible).

That quick stand up when I first got on it was a fun 1.

My BP was always in a good range until last year. I had an issue with a bad headache and cognitive difficulties. My wife took me to the ER and my BP was sky high (200 over something, or in that range). My PCP put me on Lisiniprol and later Valsarten, which managed it fine. Then this year when I was diagnosed with kidney cancer, I found out that your kidneys help regulate BP. Ever since I had the kidney removed, my BP has returned to normal and I am not taking meds anymore.

Probably not the case with you, but may want to keep an eye on.

Following along intently!

I am 46, and this is the first time in my life my blood pressure has ever trended high. Been like this for almost a year now, and it bothers the hell out of me. Add in that during that time frame I have been getting headaches more frequently, and I want to get it trending to the better.

Hypertension is hereditary in my family and after a TIA in my 30's I started taking Lisinopril, Atorvastatin and Aspirin to help ensure no further attacks

I have annual check ups with bloods etc and my last BP was 118/74 which is normal for me
