Really? This makes an excellent hybrid shaft
Yeah. Feels very stable. Not much difference in feel between this and LINQ black. Shaft diameter “feels” larger in LINQReally?

Find a GT hybrid. It’s the stock demo shaft.I didn’t know that this was released as a hybrid option. Ponder engaging
I have this in my Mini and for the most part I don't find any complaints.Woohoo, picked up the 1K Black tonight and going to take it to the range and compare to Denali Black and EC1 tomorrow possibly.
Will do! I had the Denali Black in my AI Smoke TD last year and really enjoyed it. No need to take the Smoke head as I already know the Elyte has conquered it.I have this in my Mini and for the most part I don't find any complaints.
I've been so interested in Denali Blue / Black, do let me know how they compare.
I was having a good week on the sim with the Hzrdus black but noticed some balls fall with less spin and a hooky flight.Hey there I'm very curious to hear what you have to say about the Denali black shaft versus the Tensei 1K black.
I just went through various driver demos and fittings and ended up going with the new Callaway model. I had the AI smoke Max last year as well as the triple diamond max. Ironically in those models I got the black Denali in the standard max and in the triple Diamond max the only shaft available since it was in limited release was the blue denali. I also owned a graphite design tour ADHD model in the 5S which weighs about 59 g. My experience with those shafts was that for some reason the blue felt a little bit on the soft side such that if I swung easy I would hit a nice draw but if I swung too aggressively it did want to go left on me and so that shaft got left out.
The Denali black by comparison was quite different than the blue. It certainly felt stiffer it certainly did not want to go left and maybe because of how I swing even though it's supposed to be a lower launching lower spinning shaft than the blue I had the opposite results probably because the face wasn't closing as easily through impact and so for me it was a slightly higher more fade biased type shaft. That said with the AI smoke driver I was seeing high launch and relatively low spin between 2,000 and 2400.
Well after demoing the elite core model and having the comparison to my AI smoke Max I saw that the new model seem to have faster swing and ball speeds by anywhere from 2 to 3 miles an hour of swing speed and 3 Day 4 mph of ball speed which really impressed me given there is only one generation difference in these two heads. Additionally it seem to be more forgiving as well.
At the golf town where I was demoing the only shafts that I tried were the stock charcoal model which was the 50 g stiff blue profile if I understand correctly in the Denali, the aratera blue and the 1k black. I did not like the arretera as it really wanted to go left when I was aggressive with it reminding me of a more expensive Denali blue. The charcoal model which I think is really just a lighter blue model was actually pretty good and surprisingly more stable than my experience with the blue was previously. I have a feeling with the lighter weight maybe slightly softer tip that again it was keeping the face a little more open the way the black model does and so I was not going quite as left. However it definitely felt like I had to swing smooth and could not go aggressive at it because otherwise it would be too loose. Additionally I already have the tour ADHD in the same weight profile that is more stable shaft and has been a great shaft for me.
So if any of you are still following along after my long-winded post till here I tried the 1K black and was very impressed with it. I usually do not get along with black models as I tend to hit them a bit too low and ironically to left probably because the stiff tip does not stay open enough with my swing as I have a tendency to have a closed face angle through impact. This is why I have never liked the hazardous black. Well on a whim the person helping me at the golf town store put the 1K black in the head for me. I asked him if he did not think it would be too Stout for me. It was the 65 g stiff model. My swing speed tends to be in that 100 to 103 range and if I really swing hard can get it up to 105. The one key black was exactly what I look for in a shaft! Despite being heavier and stiffer in feeling than the charcoal Denali the ball speeds were equally high and on a couple were even higher. I did not lose a single ball that curved left. There may have been one or two that were slight poles five or 10 yards left of the target but no hooks. Misses that went a little bit right not overly fade. Additionally on those the spin did not get up above 2,600. The lowest spin I saw on any of my shots was about 1900. I remember one shot that I hit definitely off the toe and I got a nice high five yard draw that hit the center line that tied for the best ball speed and still kept a spin of about 2,200. Launch angles were in the 11 to 13 degree range so maybe one degree lower than the Denali. Feel was maybe a little less smooth than the Denali black but had a nice crack through impact where the Denali black kind of felt muted or dead through impact.
I think one of the reasons this shaft has not gotten as much Buzz as it should have is that it was not one of the pro models that have a couple of the more premium materials in parts of it. And additionally it was an exclusive release with the Titleist Woods which limited exposure. However it now seems to have gone past any exclusive deal with Titleist and is available in Callaway and TaylorMade heads from what I can see.
I did not find it overly low launching or overly low spinning so while it might be a little lower , I would think at most one degree and a couple of hundred RPM not much bigger than that. The most impressive thing was that it still gave me the highest ball speeds and the dispersion was both tight and slightly right biased which is perfect for somebody who hates to see the ball hook.
I've hit all three (Denali Black and Charcoal, 1k Black) with Cally driver heads, but spent the most time with Denali Black and 1k Black. I'd say 1k Black feels stiffer to me, but is not harsh at all. I found it was lower launching for me, and very accurate. I like the Denali Black too, but it's looser to me when similarly spec'd. I actually just ordered a 3-wood with the 1k Black not too long ago, and have been gaming it against some very tough competition, that's how much I like it's launch window and accuracy.Has anyone compared this to the Denali black?
Am curious how much lower it might launch and spin and if at my 100-103 average swing speed if the stiff 65gram won't be too much shaft.
I liked it in the simulator but I think I tend to swing more aggressively since I see my numbers so I hope it translates to the course as I ordered it as stock shaft with my Callaway Elyte.
But can likely change it to stock Denali charcoal if I am not sure.
Just think that shaft might be a bit soft .
