CONTEST The 2021 Thanksgiving Feast Picture Giveaway

Let’s go!!! We’ve never done Thanksgiving at my wife’s extended family, but I know they’re passionate about their smoker. Now I’m curious!
Ever since I started doing this way a few years ago it is the only way my wife wants it. I brine it in grapefruit & pineapple or orange juice for about 2 days & then stuff it with citrus & smoke it breast down overnight at about 150 & then to about 250 in the morning.

So, I tried to sneak a pic and my wife caught me. Pray for me

To be fair, I am not making fun of my wife. I think it’s adorable that she is throwing out an imperfect pie. We haven’t had thanksgiving with her brother in 20+ years and her parents are elderly and can’t help. She really is taking this Thanksgiving VERY serious and I am trying to help, but she doesn’t want much of my help other than cleanup. Love her and our family.

I am here for desert pics.

Nothing big for us tomorrow, but I look forward to seeing all the feasts. Happy Thanksgiving everybody!

Cannot wait to see some prep and feast pictures today.

Bird is buttered and seasoned and in the smoker as of 630.. there's a base of mayo w/ seasoning underneath that top dusting, 🙏 it comes out good!

Also this post will help me track and remember my timeline since I'll be pouring some bourbon as soon as I finish my Cheerios

Why not just have the Bourbon in the cereal?

what time are you expecting the bird to be done?

I'm aiming for 130.. 17lb bird, doing 1 hour at 200*, 2 hours at 250, then 350 until done. My vertical tends to take a little longer so I have a cushion built in there

Ok I like that idea so my thinking is on par. I am aiming for 2pm

I'm always drooling over this thread even though I'm stuffed to the gillswe have a 16 lb bird I'll be prepping tonight, trying to convince the wife to let me cook it in the smoker instead of the oven

Use the smoker, for sure!

Bird is all seasoned & ready to go!!!

I just wanted to take a quick pic of the turkey before Kim bastes it and turns up the heat. 27 lbs and we’re not even eating a dinner here today! Lol. Looks like turkey sandwiches etc all week.

Roasting turkeys in a bag this year instead of on the smoker... kinda sad but excited!
