LIVE UPDATE THREAD The 2024 Titleist Experience Featuring GT

I played with a couple of club pros yesterday with the GT woods in the bag and they all sounded awesome. Their shafts weren’t a fit for me or I would have asked to hit them.

It was cool to share a cart with you for the practice round on Sunday, when you hadn’t had a fairway wood in the bag for a while and were … I’d say, maybe cautiously optimistic?

… And then again on Tuesday, when that thing was already a WEAPON. Folks, @dAS0 is a good player. But I was blown away seeing how high that 13.5 degree GT2 was flying. I truly never would have expected that trajectory.
The state of having the 3w and not having it, too (Schrodinger's fairway wood?) was an interesting feeling, but after actually hitting it and seeing it fly high was plain fun to see. Compared to my utility irons, I think the 3w flies higher.

Hey mark this is Steve your caddie from the 1st day at the creek. The “hidden creek” is way back behind the 8th/9th hole about a 1/4 mile into the woods. The pond on 10 is the irrigation pond. I helped stock it with the old superintendent back in 2001. Monster bass live in there and we encourage the guests to give it a try. Hope you enjoyed your stay.
Steve! Thanks for the great work and reads on the last day! It was a blast!

Ok, full write up after a few days to think about it all:

First off, @JB and @GolferGal , thank you for planning all of this out. I still am in awe of how this community is such a great place and it starts at the top with how it is run. This was another incredible event and I loved every second of it. It was a privilege to experience a second Dormie property and get to talk and play with everyone at the event. Thank you!

@snafu The first participant that I met. You are a generous guy and I love the way your scores just dropped during the event. You brought up how you were playing beforehand and where your cap was, and then after deliberate planning of shots and the new clubs, bam. Sub 20 HC and dropping. The 84(?) that you shot at Hidden Creek is incredible and a sign of how these events are not just new gear, but a way to play better golf amidst a community of golfers. I am glad I was able to play a few rounds with you before and during the event.

@BMiller813 I see your avatar has changed...what a round that was! You are a cool, calm, and collected golfer, but when that eagle putt dropped, the emotions came out. It is well deserved (Thank you for the yetti - it will add my morning coffee to the list of ways I will remember this trip) and you added the bird and the HIO scare and the sandy par on 18 all into a single round. I look forward to hearing how the new clubs work out and if any additional bird species make the list

@eric61 Another guy who I played multiple rounds with, and another golfer who had a few early drives go awry in pre event golf but started his long drive show case at Hidden Creek. Thanks for posting all the Titleist knowledge to the form during dinner. As much fun as it was seeing bombs being dropped, I was more excited to see the 7w being played. Enjoy the new sticks and I can't wait to hear more as the FW get dialed in!

@amarkabove I knew you'd be a cool guy when you appeared at Twisted Dune with the purple shoes and purple polo. Maybe a matching purple putter grip? Style does not come up short, case in point the steak dinner attire! Great playing golf with you before the event and I loved hearing about some great golf being played at HC! Glad to spend the last few hours after most people had left on the putting green at the end.

@Canadan The dry humor is on point! Great conversations and though I missed out on seeing you hit that 1 iron out on the course, it was fun reading about the red numbers and learning more about THP, your interviews and tech knowledge during conversations. I really appreciate the talk about putting during our last hours at Hidden Creek. You are part of why THP helps golfers get better, both on the forum and in person.

@Pops loved the jabs and fun conversations on and off the course! It was great talking shop with you, both about your metal machining abilities and your past THP events. Jarring one off the flag stick during the last round added more fuel to the fire for that memorable day. It was great meeting you!

@R-Yang13 Loved the questions you sent towards the Titleist crew fast and furiously. Great information gleaned and posted due to you. If someone needs a pep talk, go to this guy, and he'll even do so with a smile. Your post about your goal to a 5HC got me to start writing about improvement and it was great talking shot planning and course management. I look forward to reading more about your 5HC journey! After seeing your drives, I don't think it is too far off.

Quite the few days were had and what days they were! I have a lot of reasons to smile for a very long time, plus a bigger desire to keep improving my own game. I am grateful for it all! Thanks to all of you for making it such a fun time!

Look what I found.

I wonder if the participants are sitting at the gate
At that time we where just leaving twisted dunes 5-10 down the street so we didn’t get there too early

More high praise - thank you my friend. Looking forward to seeing where this new top end of the bag will take you (besides further down the fairway and closer to/on the green)!

A lot of thoughts about this one, and I’m glad I took a couple of days to collect them before starting to jot them down. I’ve now been fortunate enough to get selected for a few of these, and they tend to come when I really need some gas in the tank. This has been an interesting year, it’s had its ups and downs, and despite all that this place and its people has been a constant source of positivity for me, and I appreciate that a great deal.

My golf game has been in a state of change over the past few years, and each time I am able to travel and play with new people, in new areas, I leave with a new appreciation for the game, its challenges, the subtle tricks it plays on us, and the way it can galvanize us as people, pairs, a team, or a group. I’m always amazed at the way these events can take relative strangers and throw them all together, and after a few short days they are all sad to leave each others company. I’m guilty of having the post-event-blues before, and this time is no different, because we truly had a special group of people that were able to gather in a beautiful place for a very short time.

This wouldn’t be possible without our hosts - @JB @GolferGal thank you for what you do. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this doesn’t happen without a great deal of behind the scenes efforts on both of your parts, and I can’t thank you enough for the positive effect that what you do has done for me as a golfer, and more importantly, a person.

Stephanie, Jacquelyn, and Josh, thank you for your generosity, your time and energy, and being incredible present, engaged, and transparent with us as we spent time with you. I have a much different view of Titleist as a brand after a few short days in your company, and I am happy to have your products in the bag going forward. After my fitting for the event, playing the clubs at Hidden Creek, and now a few rounds at my home course, I am truly excited about the prospects of what this can do to help me in my journey.

@BMiller813 I had a ton of fun watching you swing that proto shaft, and I was happy to hear about all the on-course success you had at Hidden Creek and now back at home. I’m happy we got to play a round together before, and I think this new gear is gonna treat you very well. Appreciate the new coffee mug (even though it will have to be shipped to me 🤦)

@Pops aka OK Spice it was awesome getting to play with you again, and I’m a big fan of your wife’s baking 😍. Appreciate the humor, the grit, the wisdom, and the generosity you’ve shown me, and I’m happy that if I ever make it to Oklahoma, I’ve got a hell of a guy to play golf with.

@amarkabove you made the absolute most of that Golden Ticket, and I was glad the injury didn’t keep you from enjoying this one. Every time I saw you your shoe game got better and better, and I’m not mad about the fact that we bought the same polo - when I come out east we can dress up like the Me and My Golf guys, but you’ll have much better hair.

@eric61 for a guy who hasn’t played a lot of golf this season you absolutely don’t swing like it. You were lacing that new driver out on the range, and I’m excited to see what it does for your game. You did your homework before this one, came armed with probably as many questions than I did, and did an amazing job with the updates.

@snafu my brother from another Country/Unit mother. From one vet to another, thank you for doing what you did, and thank you for heeding my deep advice to “just enjoy yourself”. To that end, you crushed it man. I was happy to see you settle in a bit after the first little while, and maybe see these things for what they are - golf with some great people, at a place we are incredibly fortunate to be at. A 15 HCP is well in reach for you, as well as much, much lower.

@dAS0 i knew we would probably get along when you showed up with a Mackenzie bag, and someday I’ll have 1/5th of your style. The sharpest dressed man at dinner, and came correct with the food and golf pics. The tee game improvement thread is about to take a real positive turn after watching you hit that new driver 🔥.

@Canadan - your kinda good eh? I’m happy to say I finally got a chance to tee it up with you my man. Thanks for all the advice, the laughs, the slanguage, the late night conversation, providing a ton of morale, and 1-irons. Appreciate you my man.

As far as the golf goes, you all maybe didn’t get the best of me, but you all brought out the best in me. Thank you guys.

Crazy to think that it was only a week ago I was driving down to New Jersey, insanely excited and if I'm being honest, marginally terrified. I do a lot of my golfing solo, which does occasionally result in being paired up with strangers, but by and large, golf is a solo venture for me. To say I have imposter syndrome and a fear my 'cap is way too low would be very accurate. I also didn't know if I was going to be able to swing with my hand injury and I really didn't want to be a downer to everyone else. But still, I couldn't wait to get down to meet everyone ahead of the Experience and just have a great time. The thing I appreciate the most about this forum is the general lack of toxicity. Sure, there are the occasional trolls, but no where else on the internet handles them the same way as THP. True THP'ers just want everyone to have the best time and play the best they can on any given day. It's completely refreshing, and it was that notion that was keep the fears at bay. There was absolutely no sleeping between Saturday and Sunday. Hell, there wasn't much sleeping at all. Excitement abounded.

As I've said in here a couple times, every expectation I had was blown completely out of the water. That starts with @JB and @GolferGal. None of this is possible without you and this unique corner of the internet is appreciated more than I think anyone could ever properly convey. I also enjoyed all 27 holes that I had JB in my group. You were quick with advice and compliments, and it was just a joy. I do hope to get to play a round with you actually being able to play at some point, if only because I want to see the trash talking competitor come out. This was definitely not the event for it as the vibes were off the charts.

JT, JD, and Stephanie, thank you for not holding anything back. The knowledge gained was massive, both on a technical level and a human one. All 3 of you were such a joy to hang with and golf with. I will always look to Titleist now, not just because of performance, but because of the people working there.

@Pops - Thank you for setting up the pre-event rounds and all the work in getting us together early to gel as a group. Watching you spin the cover off the ball with your wedges at Twisted Dune was incredible, as was just hanging around to the very end chatting.

@dAS0 - A sharp dressed gentleman and a hell of a player. You were able to set the tone early at the first dinner and made it so much easier for the rest of us to not be afraid to jump into the conversation. Glad we were able to get that round together at Twisted Dune and enjoyed that final ridiculous putting green challenge as we were procrastinating at leaving.

@BMiller813 - My fellow Golden Ticket user! We didn't spend nearly as much time as I would've liked, but that just means we'll have to find a way to play together sometime. Congrats on the Eagle, it gave all of us a jolt of energy on that last day. And thanks for the Yeti. My coffee at work the past couple days has been a nice reminder of the event as a whole.

@R-Yang13 - My man with the same polo! You have an energy about you that is contagious in the best way. We are 1000% gonna have to find a round together at some point. Thank you for the easy conversations and exuding joy with a Canadian accent.

@Canadan - That first 18 at Hidden Creek was an absolute blast, watching you and Talge just tear up the course and having fun doing it. There will a couple filthy shots with that 1 iron that will stick in my memory for a long time. But mostly, thank you for asking us participants thoughtful, simple questions to help us maximize our Experience. It was certainly noticed how much you give back to THP and bring the best out of us. And also thanks for everything on that putting green at the very end. It was the perfect chill way to end the Experience.

@snafu - I cannot wait to follow along as you get your cap to 15 and lower. It won't take long. It might take a bit more time than it should if you keep hunting for those windows, but it would be a hell of a lot less fun if you didn't. Those 23 or 24 holes we had Monday afternoon chasing Talge around he course were just pure fun and we both got to shoot an 84 which is incredible.

@eric61 - The other lefty I spent a lot of a time in a cart with at Hidden Creek. Seeing how your tee game improved from Twisted Dune all the way to that absolutely crushed final drive on 18 Tuesday was an absolute blast. The questions and conversations from you were next level (using that reporter brain for sure) and I'm so glad we got to spend as much time on the course together as we did. I'm hitting you up for a round next time I'm in Chicago.

If anyone ever holds themselves back from signing up for the chance at an Experience because they aren't sure they're good enough, or social enough, or whatever, let me tell you, just do it. The golf is great and the swag is really cool, but even if none of that existed, the people you get to meet and spend time with are unlike any other. Honestly, who has it better than us THPers? No one.

Looking back on our time at Hidden Creek

First I’d like to extend my very sincere thanks to @JB and @GolferGal. You both make our time on THP so worthwhile. Then you have these great experiences.

I would love to extend my heartfelt thanks to JT, JD and Stefanie. Thanks for taking time away from your family and lives to spend time with a bunch of fanatic internet golfers. Thanks for the Q&A time. Not many people get to experience what we were able to experience at the event. The time spent talking about equipment and getting to know you all just a little is easily my favorite part of the event. The new GT line is incredible. Thanks for letting me be a part of it all.

To all the guys that I was fortunate to meet and share the experience with I think each and everyone of you

@R-Yang13 Meeting up with you again was a real treat. Might even say it was a pecan pie muffin. Seeing your hard work to improve is inspiring never a dull moment when you are around. If you find yourself in Central Oklahoma, we will get a game together.

@snafu when we first met, you were worried about being the high cap player of the group. You didn’t let those worries, hamper your enjoyment of the event. You won’t have to worry about that again your cap is dropping nicely. I will use your advice at the tree, you can’t hit it.

@eric61 you man came to the Q&A, armed with questions and the laptop to keep the form up-to-date. From your swings at the practice round to your play at hidden Creek I’d say your GT fitting is paying huge dividends. It was a pleasure sharing the event with you.

@amarkabove you my man have great taste. Your bag was smoking and so are the shoes the High Point to me, however was your stash of putters the pink grip too long was exquisite. Enjoyed the time we got to play during the practice round.

@daso you were a blast to hang and play with. That GT 213.5 is going to be a weapon in your hands. You came armed to the Q&A and did a fantastic job of keeping form updated. Enjoy that full bag of Titleist.

@BMiller813 loved watching you make your first eagle. You played very well each round we played together. You were a great sport when it came to the Swinging Pete ball. I still wish that hole-in-one had happened. 🤣🤣 If you decide someday to make a road trip to a mountaineer away football game, bring your clubs. We’ll play around the golf.

@Canadan You being the Internet celebrity did not disappoint. I knew you were an incredible ball striker from stories I hear on the course and watching some old tech studio video. None of which give you enough credit for how you play that one Iron putter is pretty damn good also.

Thanks again, guys from the old man of the group

Big shoutout to the Titleist softgoods team too. Obviously the GT line-up is awesome but I love this hat, and their hats in general.

It’s so nice. I’ve been wearing it enough that now I need to figure out how to wash it. Anybody have good strategies? I’ve done the dishwasher thing before but don’t want to risk messing this one up so I’m cautious.

Huge fan of these alignment sticks we got as part of our swag with the experience - the little GT and script logo is a nice touch. Underrated piece of gear for anyone trying to improve, and happy that Titleist included these to help us practice and play our best.

Post experience bump from this one is very real 🔥

Love seeing these pop up after the event is well over.

You guys did such a nice job keeping everyone engaged without a competition.

I’ve always thought titleist soft goods was excellent. Hats, bags and travel gear 👌

I’ve gotten a boost after every THP event IE coming home and starting to apply what I’ve learned and playing a bit more confident, but my handicap has dropped almost a full stroke since coming home from NJ. The top of the bag makeover has done me a lot of favors here.

Is it the distance or forgiveness or something else?

Is it the distance or forgiveness or something else?
Distance is certainly helping, and like I said in the GT driver review thread, I’ve had the hardest time converting swing feels over to the longer clubs so the forgiveness is a plus, and having a pair of fairway metals I can swing confidently on par 5’s and not have to play the “layup to a yardage” game. Steph gave me some short game pointers during the event that have helped quite a bit as well, I probably had 3-4 tap-in pars today that helped a ton! My fitter told me that the handicap range I’m at can be hard to break through as the difference between a really good day, and a so-so one can be really slight, and since coming back I’ve had enough of those good days to get the cap to further drop towards my goal!

That’s awesome to hear! Love how the experiences can change games

Steph showed me something similar to what she showed @eric61 with a shaft leaning back open face shot after I toe skulled a flop from the same place on two I pulled one off the day before with JT. It's taken a little while to get used to but when I get consistent with it, its going to be a very useful shot. Just another example of all the Titleist people being amazing.

The GT valuables pouches we got from the event are such a cool piece of swag too. Titleist was insanely generous to us.
