LIVE UPDATE THREAD The 2024 Titleist Experience Featuring GT

I swear @eric61 has the most repeatable swing with this club. Every shot has the club in the same position at his peak. Same, "I am going to SMUSH this drive", face, too.
This is 100% facts

Seriously could not be more happy for you my man, you truly made the most of this experience and the Golden Ticket. Was a pleasure getting to know you for a couple of days and chop it up. We gotta figure something out to actually play golf together though 👊.
We absolutely do. Rochester NY is basically next to Canada and you're an Uber pro now...

Question for our friends from Titleist: When designing products how much do you look at products from other companies? If so, do you have certain companies earmarked for certain traits? (no names needed just curious)
Playing with JT during round 3, he mentioned that he will hit most or all of the competitor's products just to feel and know what is currently out there and how it performs.

Add in the cottages and food and this one rises up the list quickly.
This is the only Dormie property with the larger buildings. We had 12 rooms(?) on the first floor and 4 (?) on the second. A huge shared living area in the middle made it easy to sit around and talk all things golf, Titleist, and breakfast cereal with everyone. I love the smaller cabins of the other properties, but this layout was better for THP comradery.

How far did that one go?
I hit a couple of big numbers out there, but was not used to the softer conditions (missed my prairie rollout 😂). I’m very grateful for these opportunities because I learn so much - I was placed in a lot of positions where I didn’t know how to play certain shots, were in lies I don’t see ever, or in short game situations that are very foreign to me. Every time I play in new areas and with new people I add to the toolbox, and the confidence and creativity gets a boost. Our caddy Al gave me some advice during our last round as it pertains to where I’m at and where I’m trying to get to with this game - “go play golf brother. Going out and bangin balls on the range gets you a golf swing - playing golf makes you a player.”

easy to get into the air. Lower cg, easy to swing, they are winners, and have a similar metallic click only slightly muted compared to the GT drivers. I love the sound they make!
Still holding firm in my opinion it sounds more like a premium putter than a fairway wood, and in my opinion on the sound of my former fairways 😂

Is that a ball I see?
I split the two bunkers and bounced up onto the green. A lot of room left on this hole, but after many shots aimed left and staying there, I am glad I aimed for my actual target!

Does a bear poop in the woods?
This course so nice even bears know to go elsewhere to do their business.

Walking through the underbrush in the trees was much cleaner than I expected

...yes, I went into the trees a bit...

Gonna have to step up my shoe game to come play with you I think though. Probably the best collection I’ve seen at a THP event so far.

Is the NJ/Philly area a hybrid of Northeat and North Carolina golf?
Last year was in NC so it was easier to compare the two courses. I see a lot of similarities, maybe less elevation changes at Hidden Creek. but that could be just the local area. The wooded areas were not as sparse and sandy due to leaf liter.

Guys, How good does the crown look when at address? Seamless to say the least. And what do you think of the sound?
Love the look. Its size seems perfect to my eye, not too bulky like it might be tough to swing and not too compact where I'd fear missing the center by a lot. I love the clean, glossy crown. Simple and a nice contrast off the turf.

The sound is wonderful. It is metallic sounding, but not harsh or pingy. A sharp click to let you know you did something correctly.

She was dishing out such great advice. But my favorite interaction was probably after she gave you some alignment advice on a tee box she looked at me and said quietly "I'm not ignoring you I just can't really figure out your swing at the moment." I replied "Me either"
Hahaha, well you’d figured it out by the end of the round! I know your wrist had been bugging you, but whichever hole it was where you wound up in that huge waste area — it took a couple misses but then you hit that gorgeous wedge out of there, and it was like that was the moment, and you didn’t hit a bad shot the rest of the round from there. Great drives, irons on this high trajectory and hitting/holding greens. It was an awesome way to finish.

I’m pumped to follow your journey with the Ai200s after seeing those iron shots at the end of our last round. Similar ball flight with nicer sound/feel would be a huge win.

Curious if you’re also in a new shaft compared to your old driver.
Same exact weight/flex is in my TSR, but I went with the pearl white and black when we parked that one in there. I think the orange and pearl white really pops though.

How is everyone's credit card doing after visiting the Pro Shop so many times? Worry about it later, right? :ROFLMAO:
I dropped it in the snow when I got back up here so it could cool off.

Episode 4 Movie GIF by Star Wars

That was seriously so fun to watch. Absolute 10/10 golf shot and I’m here for it. I’ll be watching that tee game thread very carefully sir 😉
I'm already liking the limited data collected thus far...

Split it up across a couple cards. No one can force me to do the math for a total.

Hahaha, it was fun to get that thing going. Especially because @dAS0 was there for the practice round where I drove the ball TERRIBLY.

On a serious note, I do think this is why a really good fitting makes a huge difference. Early in the first round, after a couple poor drives when I was still getting comfortable with it, Josh Talge told me I was getting tentative and needed to just try to hit it hard. He was right. Starting on the back 9 in that first round, I found myself really just swinging harder, and that continued the rest of the way. Stephanie gave me those set-up tips, and from there, on good swings, I felt my club path getting just a touch in-to-out, starting the ball slightly left (I’m a lefty, for those who don’t know). As long as I do that, I don’t have to fear big hooks. Just good set-up, make sure the grip isn’t too strong, and my only swing thought is to stay smooth in transition rather than jerking the handle. From there — smush.

I plan to get on a Trackman soon because I’m willing to bet my swing speed is up, just because I’ve gotten so much more comfortable with this driver and my swing in such a short period of time. My best drives went from 275-280 on Monday afternoon to 290 on Tuesday morning.

Stephanie made the comment that the shaft is a timing device. Makes sense. The fitter was right to get me into the Ventus Red. The handle stays stable in transition, when I have a tendency to react to feeling softness by getting wonky with my wrist angles. And then it kicks hard at impact, when I want to feel it really whipping through. The whole thing feels like it’s working with me, like it wants to get me into the right positions.

I feel like I was just drinking from a fire hydrant over these last few days on driver — learning SO much, from Stephanie and from Josh and from how the GT3/Ventus Red combo lets me swing. I had more than my share of inconsistency, but I’m also 100% positive I have all the tools now to go get some practice in, get fully comfortable and consistent with these changes, and turn driver into a strength of my game.

Sorry guys, I’m rambling here … to be honest I’m just really pumped about this, still nerding out on everything I learned and going over it again and again in my head.

Honored to have another one of these. This is an incredible little keepsake to tuck away for a rainy day when I need a good memory or two.

Is this what I do now?

Joke aside, knowing a 13.5* 3wd can hit and stop on a green is incredible!
It was cool to share a cart with you for the practice round on Sunday, when you hadn’t had a fairway wood in the bag for a while and were … I’d say, maybe cautiously optimistic?

… And then again on Tuesday, when that thing was already a WEAPON. Folks, @dAS0 is a good player. But I was blown away seeing how high that 13.5 degree GT2 was flying. I truly never would have expected that trajectory.

For real, @amarkabove, we need to see a family photo of all your golf shoes at some point!
