Woooooo!!!! What a time to be a THP'er, as we have Experiences coming down the track and we go back to back at The Vic. This experience is sponsored by one of the favorites of the THP community, Shot Scope. Shot Scope’s core mission is to help us improve our game with data. They believe that golfers can benefit from analyzing data from their rounds with shot tracking and making a plan to focus on improvement based on what the data shows. Shot Tracking combined with just knowing accurate distances with their GPS and Rangefinder offering is powerful if you are attempting to score better. In my experience, they are absolutely right about the power of data.
Getting to interact with the people from Shot Scope is what makes this Data Experience so special. While the lucky participants will get full data breakdowns from the professionals about their game, we can also learn a lot at home as we follow along with this experience. I would highly recommend downloading the free e-book “How to Improve Your Game with Data” from their website (https://shotscope.com/us/shop/products/ebooks/how-to-improve-your-game-with-data/). I have nothing but positive things to say about their products, as I’m a X5 & Pro ZR user.
Now that I’ve set the table, let’s talk about winning some coins betting on this one…

When & Where
May 4th-6th, 2025

Victoria National Golf Club
Out of all of the Dormie Network courses that we have grown accustomed to seeing at THP experiences, this Tom Fazio design feels like it provides the most carnage for participants. Victoria National is a course carved from abandoned coal mines and has over 500 million gallons of water on the course. It has bent grass greens and fairways, just a brutal test of golf awaits the participants.
If you want to take a look at what the participants will be dealing with, take a look here:

*There are also, hole by hole breakdowns by Templeton on the forum
The Format:
Monday- 18 Holes: Shamble Format (Best Ball- 70% Handicap)
Monday- 9 Holes: Alt Shot (50% Handicap)
Tuesday- 18 Holes: Singles (100% Handicap)
This format for the Data Experience is an absolute winner, as it has a little something for everyone. I really like the inclusion of the Alternate Shot stanza. With 8 points total available, 4’ wins the Data Experience. With the number of points equally distributed between Days 1 & 2, we are set up for an exciting finish in the singles matches.
Note: Team Gavin won last year’s Data Experience
The Teams
Team Gavin (Combined Handicap: 4.8)
@Gavin - Shot Scope (+3)
@jdtox (4.5)
@lambeau (6.6)
@tinkergolfman (11.2)
Team Jen (Combined Handicap: 3.6)
@jenisontheforum (+3)
@JB (8.4)
@Scooby45 (10.3)
@MtlJeff (+1.4)
I don’t know where to start, but from a combined handicap standpoint, this is the lowest number for both teams that I have seen since doing this in 2018. Both teams are stacked, and that should lead to super tight matches and an experience that isn’t decided until the final match.
Both teams include an experience rookie (tinkergolfman & MtJeff), this one is so close that it might be decided by which one of the rookies handles the heat the best. Outside of the rookies, we know that the rest of the field are absolute gamers, led by Gavin (minus his trusty R1) & Jen. Besides the namesake, Team Gavin sports perhaps the greatest experience competitor in THP history in jdtox (that was the most difficult sentence that I have ever written, I threw up a little in my mouth). They also have a steady hand with Lambeau to help their rookie tinkergolfman navigate his first experience.
Team Jen is also stacked, we all know that Jen can play lights out, as we have seen her play before. Joining her on the lowest combined handicapped team in the history of THP Experiences is The People’s Elbow (JB) & my Preview Show Booth partner in crime (Scooby45). Combined with all this experience, they draw a rookie with a plus handicap. I mean, what is happening here?
Opening Odds:
I don’t see how Team Jen doesn’t go off as a slight favorite in this spot. We have seen the JB/Scooby pairing win in shamble before (they go out together here also). There won’t be a whole lot of pops in this format, so slight edge to the team with the two plus caps. With that being said, any team that has both Gavin & jdtox is a live dog, as we know that they both just finds ways to win matches.
With a stoke spread in combined handicap that isn’t that drastic, the pairing were done in a very stock manner. It has the makings of a razor close competition, that could hang in the balance of a couple of matches on Singles Day. This could come down to the Jen v. jdtox rematch on Singles Day.
I have seen both JB & jdtox play at the staff retreat, and they are both are in good form, this number is slight and is based on the fact that I think that Team Jen’s rookie (MtJeff) handles the Vic better than tinkergolfman.
