EXPERIENCE The 2025 Grandaddy of em All with Callaway Golf

My first thoughts were to take as many notes as possible during the presentation. I will obviously want to get as many pics as possible too so once any embargo is lifted I can use them. I will be extremely active in each thread for the equipment I end up in. I will answer any questions any THP'ers have. I will also probably PM you and all the other alumni for thoughts, tips, suggestions, etc. on how to be better.
I think the part that I struggled with personally was feeling slightly intimidated- what I mean by that is we have great staff writers who handle the THP article, then I was blessed with some very knowledgeable teammates who could nail a lot of the key technological pieces better than I could...then there was myself who felt more "Mongo hit ball far". So it was finding where I could fit in, and provide valuable feedback....

Then it dawned on me- not everyone grasps the technology side. Not everyone understands the physics, or the reason they chose to use this metal over this one because of it's molecular properties. They relate more to Mongo hit ball far, than they do with the other items. Realize the reach that your words can have, THP has a ton of readers, even more so than active posters as JB has highlighted. So long way of saying- be authentic and present as much as possible- and you'll be just fine.

My man... that's why I loved your reviews. I have no technical knowledge whatsoever. I am definitely in the "Mongo hit ball far" category. I will be in that camp w/ mine for sure.

I really don't understand why people don't try them. Well I actually do, but still. I"ve had people of varied skill level from scratch to mid teens hit my core set and come away really impressed/surprised...no shocked really.

Heck I even let a buddy of mine who is 72 use the whole set for over a month since I can't swing. If the shafts would have been anywhere close to what he uses, not sure I would have gotten them back :ROFLMAO: Actually never had a doubt I would, but just wished I could have seen him play them.

I did trade in my AI Smoke towards my ideal set of A150's. Was only able to hit a few of them before sidelined. I can tell you that the Elyte Core would put up a fight against even those from my brief stint.

What I mean is don't overlook something out of your normal first glance type of profile from paper/pictures. This goes both ways from GI to CB or CB to GI. Give the new/new some swings just to see.

It may open some eyes of what's really inside the club. They absolutely nailed the tech and looks with the Elyte.

What is coming next is where you guys can peal the curtain back for us.
I have a preference and must try going in. That preference is just my starting point. That list will most likely grow after the presentation and I get to see the new-new.

My rental clubs on vacation was a full set of Elytes. Driver thru irons. And Opus wedges. I really liked them. So I won't be shocked if the core lineup wins out.

The rentals at my club are Elytes. Last time I played, my friend used them and now is about to buy a set. They are so good.

So got a chance to chat with some of the team Tuesday night, and one thing we didn't talk about was how each of you is preparing for the post experience reviews. How are you guys thinking about the next phase of the experience? Prepare notes ahead of time? Full write up when you get back? What are you thinking?

I went into it with an idea of how I wanted to approach, notes during the presentation, photos on the course, and ShotScope with me to help with some of the stats and memory from the rounds given my cold climate. Looking back, the most difficult part for me was the notes during the presentation- just because we were shoving some really good food into our mouths during it I missed a couple of sections that I needed for the iron write up haha.
I took pictures of every one of the slides during the presentation on Day 1 and took notes along with them, so I had all that info preserved. It was a huge help when it came time to start talking about the equipment.

Remember, you can take pictures of almost everything you see - there are just a lot of them you can't share right away.

I definitely plan to take notes throughout all presentations and then am taking a notepad to the fitting so I can write down specs and everything I can remember as soon as I am done so I don’t lose it. I am also taking my MacBook and will possibly use that for notes during presentations as I type much more efficiently than I write. I am not sure what method I’ll use yet. Once I am home I’ll be doing preliminary write ups and then gathering data right away on MLM2 (if the clubs come home with us) or else get things ready for when the embargo date is passed and I can post right away.

I picked up a V5 and think I will bring it with me, But as I’ve not used Shot Scope before if it feels like it is distracting at all I won’t be using it

On thing I am glad I did is I spent 5-10 minutes jotting down my thoughts for the day while we were at hotel each day. Gave me stuff to go back to and recall other things when I went back after the event.

I plan on notes and photos from ECPC to fall back on. I'll probably bring my Shot Scope tags for tracking some on course shots. Once I get back, hopefully with the clubs, it'll be testing and comparing versus my other clubs on the SkyTrak+. I want reviews written and ready to go once the embargo is lifted.

I like @Joshnoble01's idea to write down my thoughts each day. I will do something like that when ever I get a chance.

That's a great idea. The whole event is such a constant massive overload (in the best possible way!) that a lot of little things can escape you. It's great to be able to refer back to your notes afterward to jog your memory. I still have my notes and it's fun to look back at them and remember things I probably otherwise would have forgotten.

I still have our Grandaddy group chat, clear back to the day I was picked for the team. I read back through it one day last week when I had some downtime. Man, so many great memories flooding back, so many smiles and laughs as I read through it!

Of course you did...
Just like your feedback drove me to pick up the Elyte this year.

Can’t wait to see who entices me this year…

Well said Sometime "Mongo hit ball far" just resonates. :)

I still need to watch Group 2!!!

Got it that makes sense then. Just didn't want you to go in with the "I have no clue what I should be hitting" mentality. Having an idea for your starting point makes yours and the fitters life much simpler.
I’m sure time is limited. I can name 2 preferred setups. They can tell me what works

I am bringing my shot scope watch with me to get round info and a notebook for the presentation and notes in general.

Post event I plan to have a full write up at some point on the Experience and how grateful I am for the opportunity. That one may take a bit to make sure I get it right and let the excitement and dust settle a bit lol

This is my plan as well. Take pictures of the slides and just about everything I can. Then also take notes that I can go back on when writing reviews.

Photos have a good way of jogging my memory too so that will help when writing feedback.
