The Chronicle of the 4th floor office build

there was some spam post about a porn shoot next to an office building that scorpion was replying to that JB proceeded to delete.

not sure if you missed that. lol. (y)
AHHH that makes more sense. Yup, missed it, just assumed it was a tongue in cheek comment about my disappearance. :ROFLMAO:

I was wondering if everyone knew what JB was talking about LOL!

Yeah unfortunately my engineering license has ethics clauses that kinda tie my hands to that damn book .

Yeah the code roughly says residences exceeding 3 stories are required to have the sprinkler system. And there is a loops hole that allows a 4 story residence to be classified as a 3 story residence as long as the 4th floor ONLY consists of a stair case landing to access either an uncovered roof top patio and/or an unfinished attic.
Sounds like they had you in the corner then. That sucks, my friend.

Yup, and the builder played some iffy games to make it appear as the space was "ready to be finished". The city said he should not have passed inspections with the drywall sections and internal framing in the "unfinished" space.

OH well, now we'll have a nice landing and building in shelves etc. Just gonna cost be a bit of cash and a lot of my time... I'm mostly over the emotions of it :ROFLMAO:

That sucks man! I kept meaning to ask you about it because I believe you were in the same battle during the Morgan cup. Unfortunate that happened!

Jake, you could fight them on this and probably win. However, it would likely cost as much or more than your addition. City agencies or departments usually cave when pushed but the City's attorneys will fight for a while and, then, likely lose interest. At least, that is the way it is in cases in which I've been involved.

Yeah I thought about that, especially since I've got an engineering solution that would be as safe and is defensible. But elected it wouldn't be worth the effort or cost :ROFLMAO:. Its ok I've resigned on the battle and have moved on to other things. Like fixing my driver swing, which has been going really well last few weeks
