The Cruise Thread

Is the quantum class that much better than the oasis to spend the extra money? Me and the wife want to go on a cruise near Christmas and we loved the Allure when we went for our honeymoon last year
It is a smaller ship and does have some new features but being a brand new ship it will have a much higher demand and ticket price than Oasis class. If you wait a year it'll come down in price.

Canes you are amazing.

Sounds good. We loved the Allure last year and want to go on another cruise and the quantum looks insane. Might go on the allure or oasis this year and then go on the quantum next year.

Send me a PM with date(s) for this year and I'll see what's available on the friends and family list.

You are a king among men. I went on a bachelor party on Sovereign of the Seas about 10 years ago and had a blast and now am priming the wife for a cruise next summer.

I wish there were better cruises out of Tampa. I heard that the new ships are getting too tall to fit under the Sunshine Skyway.

Can't wait to hear how awesome the food and activities are from you Wardy! Make sure to sneak in some kid(s) events so I can tell my daughters, too. ha ha ha
I can give out short jokes, because I'm short, too.

He picked out his favorite trench coat and chloroform for the trip. :D

There's nothing magical about chloroform on a Disney cruise. Also, 24hr coke and/or root beer floats. Who needs little kids ruining my peace and quiet when I have a wife asking me to go get her one of those ruining it?

This made me laugh out loud. Thanks brother, I needed that today.

My wife and I took our honeymoon on the newest RC ship at the time. The second in the oasis class. The Allure of the seas. Beautiful ship and we had a great time. Can't wait to go again.

We are going to be on a cruise next week, and we will be hitting Nassau. Does anybody have any casino recommendations? I know Atlantis is there, but I suspect all of the tables will have high minimum bets. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

My buddy spoke pretty highly of Crystal Palace, but I am not sure on table minimums TBH.

I like to gamble, but I'm more of a $5-$10 craps player.

I've only been to Atlantis. The sports book is sweet.

Any suggestions on a cruise line for a 7-10 night European cruise?

Are you looking for five stars? Larger ships or smaller?

I personally dont care. I want to be comfortable and not have to deal with a ton of extra charges. I want my first cruise to be as worry free and easy to manage as possible.

Take a look at GateOne travel. Some pretty good packages available. Once I get off train I will send you some info via PM.

Thinking of booking a cruise for my wifes birthday. Neither of us have ever been on a ship so I don't want to do a full week, thinking 4 or 5 night since we have to fly to a port want to get our moneys worth. Or should I just say F'it and do 7?

Its a ways off, but I wanted to start looking for deals and have come across a few good ones. I have been told by a few to book a balcony room for our first cruise. Any reason why? Does it really matter what kind of room you have? How much time do you spend in your room?

Balcony (Veranda) is a good option, but it depends if you get sea sick. If you are prone to motion sickness, choose an interior room instead.
Choose ports you actually want to visit.
Not all boats are equal, so choose things based on your interests.
Book nightly activities early.
Choose your port carefully.

And finally, if you are going to book Carnival, remember to not judge the rest of the cruise ships and lines based on that.

Thanks for the tips...I wouldn't expect to get sea sick, but have never been on a ship that big or on the water that long. What do you mean by choose your port carefully? I've been looking at Royal Carribean and Celebrity mostly. Not sure about Norwegian. I have heard to avoid Carnival.

All of those are solid, but they will be different ship to ship.
What I mean by Port is that for instance going out of Miami, is very different than going out of Ft Lauderdale, etc.
