Ha. Close friend group has a weakness for fine dining. Even then, we’ve been on a bit of heater recently.

This goat biryani is freaking perfect. Medium spicy, so flavorful, tender goat. Also $17 and I had a full bowl and it looks like I didn't even leave a dent

This was a few weeks ago. We had cut up pieces of pork butt that I smoked and then paired with some peal couscous that I made with onions and carrots. Didn't need the knife that is shown.

Really not photogenic by any means, but had some beef cheeks w/ spaetzle on Friday at a Bavarian restaurant on Friday that was soooo good:

Then on Sunday, as seems to be the norm, cooked steak, made a panzanella and grilled potato salad for a buddy who came over:

I have tried to get beef cheeks from a local butcher shop and have not been successful. They say they can request them and sometimes they can get them and they would call me. I have asked about them twice and no calls.

There is a new butcher shop we have not been to yet, but will try there as well.

The one time I bought beef cheeks to cook, i learned you need to be a bit careful.
Let's say they were 1lbs each, the butcher shop sold them to me untrimmed and required lots of trimming, reducing the yield of meat significantly.
The good thing is that you can't eat a ton of them as they're so rich.

I gladly accept that challenge (if I can get some).

But thanks for the info. Having never gotten any, I don't know how much trimming is needed.

Looks great! Did you toast the bread bowl and cap first? That is what I like to do, add some butter and garlic and put it in the oven.

Speaking of pasta, have you tried Assassins Spaghetti? I have not yet, but look it up, it is interesting.

Went for Korean last night in Vancouver and had THE MOST INCREDIBLE fried eggplant I have ever had in my entire life. The battering, the sweet / spicy sauce, just phenomenal.
And then I ate an entire beef short rib, which was insanely excessive but it was so good. Sous vide for 12hrs and then eaten with the veggies to balance its richness. Very nice.
