That’s a valid take. It’s not cynical, it’s the true nature of the beast. This is going to be a sad state, but from the ones I know pretty well, build quality means nothing, unless you mean the quality of the contract.

Besides the duke, who are the trash golfers you want to remove?I think the mistake the PGA Tour made with the Creator Classic was trying to make it too much like a Tour event…
I think they can make this event more competitive and more watchable simply by keeping out the trash golfers and let the good creators do their thing.
Wesley Bryan, Grant Horvat, and Peter Finch would like a word.
this is right on.
the planning conversation will very much be whether they need to lean on the golf, or lean on the entertainment. Portnoy even made the comment at one point "I like my toys." I forget who he was referring to, but that's not someone there for golf ability. and you've got the Duke wandering around openly doing drugs they have to blur out and causing the course marshals to yell at them over pace - when the course is one of the major sponsors. that's pretty heavily on the entertainment side to the detriment of the golf side. on the other hand, we're not watching this to see a tour event. how do they find the sweet spot where it's still personality driven without falling off the cliff?
I've wanted to play Big Cedar for as long as I can remember. That video (and a few others) have only increased that wantit'd be interesting to see the impact for Big Cedar too. i know while we watched, my son kept saying how much he wants to play there now. (in between ear-muffing him through the frequent f-bombs) great exposure for those courses, especially the debut of the Cliffhangers par 3 course. i'm sure there's plenty of people today saying "we gotta go play there." i wonder what that will translate to in reservations.

I thought the same thing. I'm not saying she's not good but I wouldn't say great like I would about Brad.i'm kinda surprised how many people are praising paige's play. no doubt she hit some good shots, but it seemed to me when the pressure was the highest, she completely folded. frankie is going to kick himself for the putt on 17 and the chip on 18, but she put him in both those spots with poor play.
I think Portnoy would invite him back BECAUSE of the cheating accusations.... just to stir the pot. That's what he does.If you’re Portnoy, do you invite Malosi back next year? He doesn’t have the presence of some of the bigger players, so they could skip him and be fine
I think Marissa and Alexis would wipe the floor with Paige. They didn't have the best female golfers but they had the best female content creators.I thought the same thing. I'm not saying she's not good but I wouldn't say great like I would about Brad.
Didn't paige play D1 and pro?I think Marissa and Alexis would wipe the floor with Paige. They didn't have the best female golfers but they had the best female content creators.
Paige was a good D1 player. Played mini tours. Very accomplished golfer. Same resume as Marissa and Alexis. I said what I said.Didn't paige play D1 and pro?
If Dalke had anyone other than beef as a 3rd they boat race them.To me, it was shocking that it came down to the last hole, because I thought Dalke's team would win 6 & 5 or something - especially with all the drama on the other side and Frankie having zero mental resolve.
And although nobody will probably say it - Paige choked with the match on the line with her approach shot...Frankie's chip was just a formality because once she missed the green, they had like a 99% chance of losing.
Patrick Malosi Reed was their only solid player - and that was due to slope rangefinder, improved lies, over-refreshed wedge grooves, Callaway ERC driver, Emanuel Clase putting for the other team, PEDs....etc.
If ever there was a time to putt with a wood or hybridI watched the last shot over and Frankie never had a chance to make a good stroke. His practicing swings had him breaking his wrists and not a good motion for the pitch shot he needed . That was always going to be bladed across the green
He was so tense, completely in his head and anxious to hit that shot.. Paige asked him to walk up to the green to check out the slope and get a good read and he refused. He needed that to slow down, relax and loosen things up mentally. That tension and anxiety basically manifested in his swing and the blade across the green. Obviously much easier to analyze in hindsight.. hahaI watched the last shot over and Frankie never had a chance to make a good stroke. Marissa hits the ball a good bit longer than Paige from some of the golf I’ve watched.I think Marissa and Alexis would wipe the floor with Paige. They didn't have the best female golfers but they had the best female content creators.
She completely set this thing up for her to win. She took over the pairings and started talking about what was fair and all of that you could see where she was angling. When it was all said and done, I thought she got the short end of the stick, but Malosi carried them away further than I thought he wouldi'm kinda surprised how many people are praising paige's play. no doubt she hit some good shots, but it seemed to me when the pressure was the highest, she completely folded. frankie is going to kick himself for the putt on 17 and the chip on 18, but she put him in both those spots with poor play.
Paige was a pretty solid golfer and it's no secret, she said herself has said that she struggled with the mental aspect of the game and the pressures of Pro golf. I'm sure playing in an event, for a share of 1 Million bucks, tended to bring some of those old pressures and feels back when getting down to the wire, especially being the only woman playing with and against a bunch of guys.Paige was a good D1 player. Played mini tours. Very accomplished golfer. Same resume as Marissa and Alexis. I said what I said.
They had a committee on site of people that were not in the tournament that was there for this exact task. The participants in real time vetoed that idea and wanted to decide amongst themselves insteadThinking to the next tournament, I think that the proper way to make teams is to have the players seeded based on ability, at least for the final round or two. Otherwise, the entirety of the tournament is basically up to the ability to agree on what constitutes "fair" teams.
Sort of underwhelming ending...just...wow.
You get paid to play golf for a living...that wasn't that hard of a shot. Maybe you chunk it, maybe you hit it thin...but how do you blade it 60 yards over the green on a chip?
They're more interested in creating drama and controversy with the picks than creating fairness. The more they can make it like Jerry Springer, the more views and engagement they get. They had a committee on site of people that were not in the tournament that was there for this exact task.
