The Internet Invitational 2025

So Mo is on the Good Good Podcast. He said he didn't have slope on. That I don't care about. He then talks about the water ball that he moved the rock on and he said he knew it was a penalty. He kept quiet about it. He said he knew it should of been a 2nd penalty if he would of been called out on it. Chaz called him out on it. It should of been a 2 stroke penalty. They halved the hole to keep a 1up lead. That is the one I have an issue with and he basically said he was a scum bag liar. Bubbie said it wasn't the rule because he didn't address the ball which is 100% wrong. He didn't say he would take a drop and was moving rocks around and caused the ball to move. That is a penalty. End of story.

just a reminder there were some real sleazeballs out there. Have you seen the DOD clown come out cracking on people taking issue with his calling...was it Lacey? Sweetheart?

Dude...take the L, move on. When someone tells you what you said is inappropriate, step up, acknowledge, apologize, move on, don't come out with some half-baked "If you never call a girl sweetheart you never got any" type take.

Reminds me so much of what I like a couple guys that are not universally loved int eh space...Horvat, the Bryan Bros are standup...

and, controversially, I would say the New Zealand crew are..yeah, they break the rules of golf but they tell you going in they are going to, they are all playing by the same set of rules and are not trying to convince anyone they are playing official USGA or PGA rules or whatever...they are playing New Zealand rules.

At the other end you have Mo out and out cheating, Spiranac effectively cheating (and likely just as knowledgeable that she was so doing). Boo these people.

DOD and Sara have known each other for a long time. He is actually trying to get her to make merch that says "Don't call me sweetheart." He wants her to make money of it, it is all marketing. His persona is absolute garbage, but he is playing the game. I see that side of it, he is just a wrestling heel.

Sara already has this merch out there that says this, DOD is a tool

So this is where things get fuzzy. Going back to the very beginning, Portnoy says that this isn't a normal golf tournament and you do what you need to advance. So does that mean breaking rules? Well, Portnoy already established that he would make up rules as he saw fit. So if we are not playing by the regular rules of golf, is it just gamesmanship to try to get one over when you can? I don't know. In every other sport I care about, trying to sell something to the official is part of it - whether it's framing pitches to make balls like like strikes, over exaggerating contact in basketball and soccer, etc. I get that golf is different, but this tournament was in a big gray area and I think that works against them. I don't see why they couldn't have played by the rules (other than the fact that Portnoy doesn't know them), as it would not have detracted from the event in any way.

i do think Mo is handling this well by leaning into it. lots of making fun of himself and "slope gate" on his socials.
he's very very likable, and that helps alot too.

and this right here is why she should have done it. I found him despicable and unlikeable and have him on my "avoid as much as possible list"....but for you he was likeable. Two very different reactions.

Which means we are both talking about him, but not talking about...oh, pick someone random...Finch? I think he was in it.

And different people are going to find different things likeable so they NEED the DOD and Malosi and Spiranac and Chazzy and Bryans and Kwon...all of whom appeal to different people. Ultimately I think it is good you like him and I don't. If everyone liked the same thing it would be pretty boring

I feel like Mo was already being phased out of GG videos. I wonder if this is a nail in his coffin and if he’s not in much of their stuff anymore

Without GG he doesn’t get an invite anyway.

Mo hasn't been getting phased out of the GG videos. He has been in all the latest videos that I can remember. The only members I have noticed that get relegated to the GG Extra videos are Blake and the 2 guys from JnA.

Besides the duke, who are the trash golfers you want to remove?

Out of the 48 people I can come up with 10 from the official roster that I don't understand.
Nadeshot - No clue who he even is and didn't care for his personality
Daltoosh - No clue who he even is
Josh Richards - No clue who he even is
PFT - Barstool guy but I wasn't a fan
The Duke - Don't care to see him again
Isaac Sekulima - Was he even in the videos
Sketch - No clue why he's even a thing
Jake Adams- No clue who he even is
Jon Gruden - Don't understand him being there. His speech was good though
Chandler Hallow - Trying to get the Mr. Beast following

I think Marissa and Alexis would wipe the floor with Paige. They didn't have the best female golfers but they had the best female content creators.

I watched the GG Extra where they went camping with the GG Girls. Alexis came off as very annoying, but I know she has game.

I think Sara Winter took Isaac's spot

A lot of those folks you listed are barstool or BDS, which is why they are there

Nadeshot and Daltoosh are gamers who have been streaming for years. Nade for example has over 3 million subs on YouTube and that's not even his primary point of popularity (twitch streaming, call of duty, optic gaming, 100 thieves, etc).

They are gamers who also golf and add golf content to their YouTubes. It's smart as hell to include them and their audiences.

With a following like that I get it. I did enjoy Daltoosh telling Micah that he doesn't golf for a living like him when Micah tried to talk trash.

yeah, that part was hilarious - and it's why they made a lot of sense to get the invite, as they are genuinely entertaining guys coming from a different source of entertainment while being passionate about golf.

There are plenty of examples you listed that I didn't understand at all. Some really mediocre golf just to pull from an audience like Sketch was a WEIRD choice.

Sketch was an awful choice, no idea how he even has a following

Absolutely agree.

Toosh is hilarious even on twitch. He was never the best apex player but his following grew to his personality. He quit video games for a minute and started a golf YouTube channel but returned to gaming.

Nade is just huge from COD winning millions for optic gaming and then starting 100 thieves. Not my favorite personality wise but he has a loyal following for sure.

All the extra "filler" golfers were a nice touch I think. For the team aspect of this you have to have some E flight players that make you strategize. Personality wise I could do without some of them but I thinked they helped overall.

it'll be very interesting to see how they fill the initial field next year.
i hope they keep some of the "here for the ride" players involved and don't get everyone who is serious on the golf.

here's an interesting peek into Frankie's psyche.

As long as I never have to see the duke again, invite whoever they want and I’ll be happy. But he’s a Bob guy so there is no way he won’t be there.

Lol

Started watching this over the weekend with my kids. They loved it. Im finished with the first 9 holes of the event and I am really surprised at how much I am enjoying it

Something about it really pulled me in too. They had really great production, which helped immensely.
