The Official Banter Away Thread

Are you also enjoying some coffee with sweetened condensed milk? That's the only way it was ever served when I was there and it was glorious.
No but I’ll try it tomorrow!

The "sand" that is 10 feet from my present location is a hell of a lot whiter than that.

I'd rather stick my toes in the Jamaican sand as opposed to that Ohio "sand". Perhaps even enjoying a pina colada while I do it.

Random things to do when snowed/iced in...look at all the stuff in your pantry and find a way to use them. Current project, what to do with 4 cans of unsweetened coconut cream.

That's just crying out to be some kind of pudding or custard.

Man, this has been a long week y’all!

LOTS of articles, and more awesomeness to come.

Snow days with no getting out of the house for me and the twins as well as Lotte.

The Doc getting the bad call schedule during the worst weather here in decades, 72 hours through the weekend and now tonight a 24, so I’m solo with the mini-me’s.

But you know what? Life is ******* GREAT, and this place is a massive part of that. You all kick total ass.

They keep saying it’s the final call, yet they keep calling...

I am leaning the dessert route, but I do have some Gochujang and I was thinking about going an Asian stir fry route as well. I also thought about a dairy free ice cream with it as the base.

This. Some dark chocolate chips, cherries, and honey or agave to sweeten. An easier approach would be to add some maple syrup and freeze that.

I have dark chocolate, some peanut butter chips and honey or maple syrup. I think we are on to something here.

That sounds awesome.

I'm very close to dropping the "treat others as you wish to be treated" rule with my coworkers. Turns out it's a free-for-all, all-about-me culture now. I feel like my stress level will be way lower if I can only take my own advice.

More snow and ice coming our way as well as predicted power outages. Everyone stay safe!

Moments we live for..

A few inches of snow down already. Only calling for 5-7 this go around. At least the dogs are happy about it 🙄

While I greatly appreciate the ability to wfh, the last minute scramble to coordinate our doctos, therapists, secretaries, and drivers is more stressful than being at the office

I think I had the same gripe during the last snow storm  lol

Just continue to remind yourself that you love the change of seasons. It's my go to explanation as to why I continue to live in the Northeast.

Oh I live here solely because we have to for my wife’s job. I am lobbying hard for a change of scenery when she’s done her residency!

When we get hit we are used to it and generally prepared for it. Years ago after a surprise ice storm resulting in days without power ( fortunately it wasnt horribly cold and many people have fireplaces )there was a rush to get generators at Home Depot, Lowes and all places that sold them. The day i finally got one was the day the power came back on. Ive actually never had to use it. The biggest concern was sump pumps not working and basements flooding I live on a dead end and fortunately my friend and neighbor had one and we went to our neighbors who didnt have one and ran it to get the water levels down. It would have been a disaster without it particularly if you had a finished basement. Following what is happening in Texas and talking with a few people there i feel so bad for them just as i do when i see hurricanes and flooding and the destruction they cause. Heard a woman from San Antonio on the radio talking about trying to find a way to create heat in her house for her baby and melting ice for water, just heartbreaking . By comparison what we get is no big deal. Hope things get better quickly for the people of Texas.

Wife requests a chrome book as working from home is tough on her cell (para with special needs kids), so she sees ones thats $80 at a Walmart thats 30 min away. Says in store price only. So i call to confirm its there and they say yes, so we make the trek before roads get to terrible.. well you can see where this goes

I get there, lady looks and can't finds it, and says oh no maybe someone sold it on my break.. wtf its 10am, what break and who the hell else is driving in the snow.. so manager looks in the back and nothing, so what was supposed to be an hour round trip for $80 chrome book is now 2 hours and $200 (after they offered me a $30 gift card for my trouble) for a different one that I could've just gotten at my local store

/rant... eating fried chicken for lunch to calm down lol

Ps snow sucks

Today, my daughter informed me that her college graduation scheduled for May 8th will be virtual. While that decision is neither surprising nor unexpected, I'm somewhat disappointed.
