Great idea. Post bad ebay sellers as well, always good to know who to stay away from.

Very good to know guys!

Jeez, look at all those sites! I had no idea there would be so many. You know, this probably wouldn't be a problem if companies would make their stuff Stateside. Just say'n.

I love the "official" threads. I just wonder what makes a thread the "official thread of _______."

This is all good information. I am very caustious about what I buy online and from where.

When my father passed away last year, my mom asked me if i wanted his golf clubs. I said ok thinking My dad's a golf nut and he'll have the best newest stuff. My mom shipped 6 staff bags full of clubs to me. Being as he lived in China the past 9 years I was wary about counterfeit clubs.
Of the 117 clubs I received, 28 in my opinion were counterfeit. 5 of the 28 counterfeits were putters that were in a popular Ping style (anser, zing, b60....etc) but were clearly made by a chinese company so those could be open to interpretation as wether or not they were counterfeits.
Of the remaining 23, 13 were two sets of r7 taylormade irons. I was able to determine they were counterfeits due to a lack of a serial number on the (i think its the 5iron but could be the 6 I don't remember) and the Taylormade logo was an older different logo.
The remaining 10 were Nike/Taylormade/Calloway Drivers that DID NOT have a serial number stamped on the hosel. So much for my theory that atleast my dad would never buy a counterfeit driver.

Man I rambled far longer than I intended. but the point I was trying to make is this: CHINA MAKES COUNTERFEITS SO BE CAREFUL!!!! I've seen knock offs from Louis Vuitton Purses, to DVDS, to perfumes, to Ipods, to THIS FAKE ROLLS ROYCE!!:

If its got value, China has counterfeited it so please watch out people.

My mom shipped 6 staff bags full of clubs to me. Being as he lived in China the past 9 years I was wary about counterfeit clubs. I know my father was such a golf nut that he would never buy a counterfiet driver/wood. Distance and gambling on Golf was so important to him that he would never risk his money on a copy that was cheaply made. However the "touch/feel" clubs such as putters and wedges....... lets just say I knew how desperate he is to shave a few strokes off his game.

So I took the remainnig 89 clubs into my local used golf store. I was upfront with them told them the origin of the clubs and, shown them the homework I had done on these 89 and why I felt strongly that they were real. Of the 89, they accepted72 with the remaing 17 being too "questionable" to take. Questionable could also have meant old and beat up for a few of those clubs.

Very interesting. Just fyi - there are a few clubs that might still not have serial numbers. We had a club ship direct from Adams that did not have a serial number. The buyer called us, concerned that it was a fake. We confirmed that this was a club that shipped directly from Adams and that there was no number on it. I can't remember what club it was though - but I don't think it was a driver. When did companies start stamping serial numbers? I have no idea if that is a reliable way to confirm a fake or not. Also, I've also heard that there are a bunch of fakes with serial numbers on them, but that they are still fakes.

I imagine that it's really hard to buy clubs in China, trying to tell what is fake or real. We've heard of a handful of local golf shops that do the bulk of their business in exporting. We've heard through the grapevine that they have tens of thousands of dollars in real products exported to China for re-sale.

The one on the left is REAL. The one on the right is COUNTERFEIT!

Not 100% on this one, but thought it should be looked into just in case.
