The one that didn’t work

For some it's drivers, others putters, for me, I was forever trying to find the holy grail of 3 woods.
Both Tour edge and Sonartec were surrounded with plenty of hype, but I found them both to be huge disappointments.

It’s on my list.

It was a launch monitor BEAST, but I couldn’t hit it on the course nearly as well as my UW.
I came to say these exact words about the Ping i530

The G440 fairways and hybrid.

Can’t believe I’m even typing that….

I tend to love ping gear and the 440 LST is awesome! But man, I just couldn’t stop hitting the hybrid and fairways left. Even tried various shafts. No idea why the disconnect for me. Clearly a me issue. 😔. I truly wanted the matchy matchy long end of my bag….

The Apex Hybrids. Its the only hybrid I actually liked the look up and could see myself playing but when I actually tried to put on in play, could not make it work for some reason. Eventually gave up and stuck to the long iron /UW19 pairing.

Hmm.. The one that comes to mind is the callaway super hybrid. I just could not hit that thing solid.
Came here to write the same thing. Paradym super hybrid…. I was so emotionally invested in that club being a superstar, and it landed with an incredible thud for me. Made worse by the fact I was testing it here.

Mine was the Callaway Rogue. Got it leftover when the epic flash came out, but that was the worst feeling driver I've ever hit. Quickly went back to the RBZ haha. I have hit one of the new Elyte drivers and that felt and sounded pretty solid.

For me it was Vokey wedges. They’re the holy grail of wedges. I have to put them in the bag. But!!! Coming from decades of playing with forged wedges, the Vokeys just never gave me the feel and therefore the confidence. Didn’t even last a season.

Ventus shafts. Just don’t work for me.

I can't think of any club I hit worse than my 3w.

Probably the Callaway Epic Max LS. It spun too much for me and I never felt like I was getting the same ball speeds as my Mavrik. It was more forgiving though.

Cleveland Hy-wood, for whatever reason it didn't click for me, even though on paper it should have been a perfect match.
I love that thing. This game is super weird.

Ping G425 Max driver, traded my 410+ for it and was never able to fit as straight or as far. Really liked the G410. Things happen.

What was the last club that just didn’t work for you? Which aspect performance wise made it so?
Callaway AI Smoke Hybrid, game tweaked enough that it had no spot, went with a 7 wood, and it is VERY good off deck or even mild rough...was a switch, had been hybrid guy for nearly a decade but no longer needed in my bag set up...

my wedges on hard as rock hardpan a week ago.

Honestly? I am still fighting the Ai Smoke 5 Wood. I want/need it to work, and the odd time I will put it all together and it is great. I swear though, when I really want it to work off the turf, it just all goes to hell.
Same here, hate the Cypher shaft, just felt dead and left everything to the right with a push.
Love the Ai Smoke 3HL (4wood), though. different shaft.
I'll also say the Toulon Las Vegas flow neck wasn't a match, but the few I've found with the short slant H 4.5 neck have been much better.

17* UW, just not enough speed to get it elevated consistently.
I have a 19*, and once I put a higher launchng shaft in to replace the MMT, it's great! And i'm a relatively slow swinger.

I'll add any thing with MMT's usually don't work for me.

Honestly, I could go with almost my whole bag of clubs at this point.
I don't like the counterbalanced shafts that I was fitted into in 2021 (C-taper lite), and I don't like my driver (Cobra SZ).

One length irons.....Cobra LTDx

Made the jump, couldn't get used to the distance issues with the longer wedges and shorter long irons.
Went back to traditional irons, and sold the one length.

I've got a 21* that is probably my favorite club with a Linq Blue in it. Probably should try a 19* with a similar shaft, as it would actually gap better...

Graphite Iron Shafts

I wanted them to work and tried as many as I could. Weight didn't matter, light to heavier just a dead feel. Maybe I never found the right mix, but will someday look at them again.

One club i wanted so badly but every time I tested it I just couldn't hit the thing very well was the Cobra F8, we just didn't get along no matter what.

One length irons. I know it's me but I just could not get use to them and the distance loss (for me) was too much

oh man, I need to think about this one..

Otherwise I'm just going to say every wood for the last five years lmao

Epic Super Hybrid. I couldn’t do anything with it. Just ordered a Paradym Super Hybrid so I’m open to trying that type of club again.

Cobra Darkspeed X driver. Good when it was good, but felt it was really unforgiving and produced a wild range of bad shots.
